- Following nine months of testing the International Football Association Board (IFAB) decided to introduce goal-line technology into football on 5 July in Zurich.

It's not the same thing. But there were so many mistakes. Even in EURO 2012. There's a linesman on the line of the goal and still there are mistakes related to this. Having a system that can cut out the mistakes related to this issue is not the same as robots playing on the field :P
GOALREF v HAWKEYE
Goalref is (1) cheaper (2) easier to install and could be used on a pitch at ANY level (just new goalposts and ball) (3) still works if the ball is not visible.
If any TV presenters, pundits and viewers like to see that the ball did or didn't cross the line, they can still view TV replays, as they do today.
Maybe the FA are suffering from nepotism by favouring the British Hawkeye version, which is more expensive, less universal and needs 25% of the ball visible to work.

They have 7 or more high speed cameras on specific places on the roof of the stadium which are pointed to goal. Special softwer then creates artifitial 3D space using images from all cameras. FIFATV made special video about this tehnology.

Thanks FIFA. The goal technology will help in matchs, in the EUROS Sweden vs England or Ukraine vs England, a goal was disallowed. We should take away these people near the goaline they do nothing but watch the players
the extra ref can check the replay and then say it to the real ref and the game would be just continuing for some seconds and then be interrupted (but hopefully only for goals and not the whole game, this would be really silly to use it for fouls

as everyone says you should put the replay available for the ref as in NFL, the goal Ukraine vs England was offside, the hawkeye technology will count the goal and not the offside position. making this technology useless.
A good solution will be to bet replay claim against substitution, with one free replay claim.

the reff didn't see that ball went it clearly . mainly i think because of the view . Thats why goal line tech exist . They dont want the same mistake happen again just like 1966 England v Germany too
