*My 12 year old nephew passed away on Saturday afternoon after a 2 year battle with cancer. This was one of his favourite songs and he asked his daddy to play it for him and an hour later he closed his eyes and passed peacefully. @Elisha Yes, you are correct; sin does separate us from God. Nothing can every separate us from's God's love, though. I think that it's so wonderful that even though we sin against God every day, He is still able to love us and want to be with us. I once heard during a sermon that no matter what we do, we cannot make God love us any more or any less.
@Elisha I think we're both saying the truth but talking about different things, and therefor confusing each other. Let me explain my side so that maybe we can understand each other's perspective. Your comment, "DO NOT be led to believe we are once saved always saved," confused me a lot at first, but I think I understand what you meant.
Romans 6:1-4 says, "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefor buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
This passage isn't talking about us physically dying like Jesus did; it's talking about how we must die to the world and its desires when we accept Jesus into our hearts and our lives. When we become true followers of Christ, we must die to our sinful lives and desires, and try to live a life according to the Bible. We can't repent for our sins once and then keep living a life of sin because "God forgave me and loves me so it's okay."
To be honest, I used to believe that lie myself. Whenever I was tempted to sin, I would tell myself, "Well, if I sin, I know I'm going to feel genuinely sorry and repent of my sin afterwards. I know that because of that, God will forgive me, so it's fine if I do it." I told myself this in moments when I was torn between what I knew was right and what my sinful nature wanted to do, and I used it to justify letting myself give in to sin. I did this for a long time, until I came across Romans 6:1-4 one day in a Bible study. I felt extremely convicted, because I knew the passage was right. I really realized how much I had been lying to myself, and how wrong I was.
So yes, you are correct. We cannot repent and say sorry for messing up once, and then go back to our sinful nature. Repentance isn't a one-time-thing-and-you're-saved kind of deal. We have to do it every day, because we mess up every day. Just to be clear, repentance means "to feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin," according to the dictionary, but another part to it is taking action because of that remorse and actively trying to be better. That's where I had been lying to myself; I felt sorry after I gave in to sin and wanted to be better, but I never actually changed my ways.
I was confused by your statement at first because I interpreted it differently. I thought you meant that even if we fully accept Jesus into our hearts and are saved through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, we can be un-saved somehow. This implied that something WE do saves and can unsave us. This baffled me, because being saved by Jesus has nothing to do with us or how "good" we are; salvation is a gift from God. We cannot earn salvation, Jesus gives it to us. He doesn't just hand out eternal salvation to everybody just for free, of course, but that's a whole other can of beans, and this comment is already reeeallly long, so I won't dive into it now. :)
Also, I want to clear up what I said about God loving us no matter what in my first comment. I think you might have interpreted that as me saying, "God FORGIVES us no matter what we do." That's not what I intended to convey. I meant, "God LOVES us no matter what we do."
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8
Sadly, many people, young and old, believe that maybe God stops loving them if they sin. That's not true at all! This verse tells us that God died for us even when we were still sinners and rejected him. God doesn't love us because we obey him, or we're "perfect," like a lot of non-Christians believe that Christians are supposed to be. God loves us like a father loves his children; he loves us the same no matter how much we mess up, because his love is not based on human works. It is not something we can earn or deserve, but rather something that God gives us. We cannot change how much God loves us!
I read a passage just earlier today that I'd like to share. It's Isaiah 43:2-4, and the beginning of verse 5.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.
4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.
5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you,
God is both powerful and loving, both king of creation and humble, both omnipotent and kind. He is the Lion and the Lamb. It's true; God IS love, but that certainly doesn't mean he's weak. :)

Yes we must love Him by keeping His commandments. Many don't know what Jesus wants of us, study and lead others in the Way. Bringing one to Christ frees us from many sins, but we must try to be good Christians. Love in Him

Three weeks ago I have listen this beautiful song at my church ⛪️ and tears of joys came out of my eyes and I can’t stop playing over and over this amazing song . My life was horrible 8 years ago without JESUS . He set me free from a deep and chronic depresión that I use to suffer since when I was 11 years old . I try to kill my self a few times but God had mercy on me. In August 2014 I came to Jesus by his amazing Grace , I throw all the medications that I use to take for depresión and sleepiness to the garbage, because JESUS change my life and I will don’t have enough life to praise him and be grateful for what he have done in my life .

The day before he left us, he found strength in his limited capacity to continue to uphold his family and his extended family in prayer. I was an atheist for 25+ years and really hated the Christian faith. I carried a lot of anger within me.
But in August 2020 i experienced a series of supernatural events that completely changed my worldview. I had a physical encounter with the Holy Spirit and saw impossible things happen. I accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior within a week of these encounters.
Today, i serve in full time ministry and have never felt more alive. God is truly real and God is truly good.
And if anyone reading this isnt sure - all you need to do is send a sincere prayer to God and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. He knows how to reach you and open your heart.

I had an incident at the hospital last week. I was very scared about a particular test. During the test, this song kept playing in my head. Even though I didn't know the lyrics to this song, it played in my head very clear, each and every line. It strengthened me. Do you feel your insufficiency for the position of trust that you occupy? Thank God for this. The more you feel your weakness, the more you will be inclined to seek for a helper. *“Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.” James 4:8.* Jesus wants you to be happy, to be cheerful. He wants you to do your best with the ability that God has given you and then trust the Lord to help you and to raise up those who will be your helpers in carrying burdens.

Let not the unkind speeches of men hurt you. Did not men say unkind things about Jesus? You err, and may sometimes give occasion for unkind remarks; but Jesus never did. He was pure, spotless, undefiled. Do not expect a better portion in this life than the Prince of glory had. When your enemies see that they can make you feel hurt, they will rejoice, and Satan will rejoice. Look to Jesus, and work with an eye single to His glory. Keep your heart in the love of God.

*Feelings Alone Are Not an Indication of Sanctification*
Happy feelings or the absence of joy is no evidence that a person is or is not sanctified. There is no such thing as instantaneous sanctification. True sanctification is a daily work, continuing as long as life shall last. Those who are battling with daily temptations, overcoming their own sinful tendencies, and seeking for holiness of heart and life, make no boastful claims of holiness. They are hungering and thirsting for righteousness. Sin appears to them exceedingly sinful.

God does not give us up because of our sins. We may make mistakes and grieve His Spirit, but when we repent and come to Him with contrite hearts, He will not turn us away. There are hindrances to be removed. Wrong feelings have been cherished, and there have been pride, self-sufficiency, impatience, and murmurings. All these separate us from God. Sins must be confessed; there must be a deeper work of grace in the heart. Those who feel weak and discouraged may become strong men of God and do noble work for the Master. But they must work from a high standpoint; they must be influenced by no selfish motives.

Some seem to feel that they must be on probation and must prove to the Lord that they are reformed, before they can claim His blessing. But these dear souls may claim the blessing even now. They must have His grace, the Spirit of Christ, to help their infirmities, or they cannot form a Christian character. Jesus loves to have us come to Him, just as we are-sinful, helpless, dependent.

Repentance, as well as forgiveness, is the gift of God through Christ. It is through the influence of the Holy Spirit that we are convicted of sin, and feel our need of pardon. None but the contrite are forgiven; but it is the grace of God that makes the heart penitent. He is acquainted with all our weaknesses and infirmities, and He will help us. Darkness and discouragement will sometimes come upon the soul and threaten to overwhelm us, but we should not cast away our confidence. We must keep the eye fixed on Jesus, feeling or no feeling. We should seek to faithfully perform every known duty, and then calmly rest in the promises of God.

At times a deep sense of our unworthiness will send a thrill of terror through the soul, but this is no evidence that God has changed toward us, or we toward God. No effort should be made to rein the mind up to a certain intensity of emotion. We may not feel today the peace and joy which we felt yesterday; but we should by faith grasp the hand of Christ, and trust Him as fully in the darkness as in the light.

By faith look upon the crowns laid up for those who shall overcome; listen to the exultant song of the redeemed, Worthy, worthy is the Lamb that was slain and hast redeemed us to God. Endeavor to regard these scenes as real.

If we would permit our minds to dwell more upon Christ and the heavenly world, we should find a powerful stimulus and support in fighting the battles of the Lord. Pride and love of the world will lose their power as we contemplate the glories of that better land so soon to be our home.
