- Grand riviera princess hotel review. A beautiful hotel in Mexico, Playa del Carmen, 1h drive from city center of Cancun. In this video you will find info about places you can eat breakfast and lunch and the best restaurants to eat dinner, hotel entertainment, hotel transfer to Playa del Carmen 5th Avenue, the main shopping street by the beach and other useful info if you are trying to decide if you should stay at this hotel or if you already booked it.
P.S. I'm very sorry if the video seems too shaky, I will try my best to avoid this issue on my videos in the future!
Best video on this resort I’ve seen!! Well presented and love the music btw, good job thanks !! 👍👍
This is very helpful. Especially the part about needing reservations for the restaurant👍
We've been searching everywhere for a good place to spend two weeks in March 2019 and this video convinced us this is the place. Thanks for taking the time to do this and all your positive notes.
So happy it was helpful to you! Have a wonderful vacation in March!
Wow 12 pools! Love the looks of the beach area and the food looks amazing 😋

So happy that you liked it, thank you!
Poolside Travels question - when you said it gets smoky around lunch time, is that from people smoking or from something else like cooking?
@@boredcow Oh, sorry for the confusion, it's from cooking meat.
@@PoolsideTravels that's what i was hoping for and assumed! but i read reviews about cigarettes being allowed in some areas so i was hoping it wasnt that haha. thanks for your reply!
Thank you for this amazing video! We will be there in 2 months, for 14 days ❤
Hi! Glad to hear you liked it! This hotel is an amazing choice, hope you will have a wonderful vacation! :)

We just booked our rooms for August! Great video I'm looking forward to it!
Priya Johal, Thanks! Hope you'll have a great vacation in August!
I just got back and you will really have a great time like we did.
Booked for september! Fingers crossed for no hurricanes
There are shuttles , buses that go to the hotel from Cancun airport prices vary
Great review! Thanks for the video tours and tips! Planning to go there. Are the specialty restaurants and bars included on the "All Inclusive?" Or just the buffet area? Thanks! More travel adventures! Cheers!
Hi! I'm glad you liked the review! They have 12 places to eat in, 2 of which are buffets just for breakfast and lunch, 2 are buffets for breakfast lunch and dinner, 5 are thematic restaurants Grill, Italian, Asian, Mexican and swiss, and the last 3 are the only ones that are NOT all inclusive Chill Out(the only restaurant by the beach), Le Fleur (international) and Las Olas (seafood). I went to only one of them - Chill Out, it was with a beautiful view, but I'd say the food quality does not mach the price, it's not worth the money. And there are 9 bars All inclusive. Only the Chill-out area is not included for Junior Suite, Junior Suite Deluxe and Junior Suite Deluxe Pool room categories. I hope I answered your questions. Have a great vacation!
@@PoolsideTravels thank you!!! Awesome!
Thank you so much for this video!! This will be our first time to an all inclusive and the first time out of the country so I’m a bit nervous! I’m a planner and going somewhere I’ve never been I want all the info! Both of the resort videos were very helpful! I had a couple of questions if you don’t mind: is it best to have usd and pesos? I’ve seen a couple of videos that said they seemed to prefer usd. I didn’t want to exchange and not need it or not exchange and then need it! Lol Also, this one is super random, like the other person asking about ranch dressing lol, but, did they serve Dr Pepper or sweet tea?! Thank you very much for your time and again thank you so much for your time making these videos!
I'm so happy that this video was helpful to you! To answer your question about the currency - I think there is no need for pesos in this hotel or it's area, because it's a touristy area they accept dollars everywhere and it is true that they like tips in dollars better than pesos, don't really know why though. About Dr. Pepper - I'm not a 100% sure, but sorry, I did not see it there. As for sweet tea, did not see anyone ordering it or drinking it so I don't really know. But don't worry they have a great non alcoholic beverage/cocktail menu, surly you will find something that you will enjoy. Have a great vacation! Also could you please let me know about ranch dressing, Dr. Pepper and sweet tea here in the comments after your vacation? It seems that people are really interested in this, haha.
Poolside Travels thank you so much for your quick response!! We are going in a couple of months so will check on those!!
Great music and video.this hotel looks 5 times better than the grand velas rivera maya !
Thank you for your kind words, appreciate it! I haven't been to Grand Velas Riviera Maya, checked out their photos on booking.com and the hotel looks stunning. Are the photos old? I would love to hear your experience in that hotel, what you didn't like there?
Going there in April! Did you see a younger crowd there of singles as well? Fun times in main pool?
Thank you so much for your video!! I was wondering how did you get transportation from airport to the hotel?
Did you get an answer to this?
Hi, great review, in octuber we gone to visit the resort. You know if there is a diference services or rooms between grand riviera princess and riviera sunset?
Regards
Hi! Thank you! Both sides are equal, they even have the same exact breakfast/lunch/diner restaurants, went to both and the service and everything is just the same. I think the only difference between both sides is just in the title. Hope you have a great vacation in October!
When going into downtown will a guide be with you too aid in the experience of the food culture.
So sorry for not replying to your question for so long. Did not notice it. This is probably not relevant to you anymore, but no there is no guide, they drive you there and that is it.
Hi! I’m going in June and got the Platinum suite. So for all restaurants, alcohol and things like that, are they all included? I know the excursions are extra and whatever souvenirs you buy but what about snorkeling gear or the ride into to city? Thanks!
All food and drinks are free (except for few special restaurants or foods like lobster and fancy bottles of wine etc). All other things you have to pay for and there is a ride into town costs about 8$, but please watch the video part where I explain one scheme that is involved in this ride. Be careful and have a great vacation!
Did you have to pay for any ala cartes or can you have as many visits as you like during your stay?
kind of an odd question, but when you were there, did they have ranch dressing? last time I went to cancun our resort didn't have ranch lol
AREDFUCKINTOASTER Hi! I think I saw Ranch dressing in the main lobby buffet, but I am not a 100 % sure, sorry, ha ha :D
Thanks for the video!! Booked a vacation in April! How is the beach? We booked a Platinum suite is it separate from the rest?
Hi! Your vacation is getting so close, I'm so excited for you! If nothing has changed then - they have 3 platinum areas sunset, riviera and Yucatan, the Yucatan is separate from everything, sunset and riviera are just closest to the beach, but still have a separate building, pool, bar, snack cafe, buffet and lobby. Hope this helps and let me know how did you like the hotel! 😊
@@PoolsideTravels Thank you! Also I have the app on my phone
Do you suggest making reservations for the restaurants prior to arriving?
@@carolynratcliff6337 Oh, smart move, now you will already be familiar with the hotel. We didn't have any problems getting restaurant reservations at the hotel when we arrived, but it was January, it's the coldest month, maybe that's why there were fewer people there. Does the app allow you to make reservations without a room number? If so, maybe it couldn't hurt to book restaurants for the first couple of nights at least.
Hello, do you know if there’s free WiFi in the rooms? We’ve booked to stay in a Deluxe Junior Suite
WhySoMelon Hi! Yes there is free WiFi in the rooms and all over the hotel. Have a great vacation!
Thanks for the video. I will be there in a few days. Can you tell me the name of the app for the hotel?
Hi! Here you can download the app. Hope you'll have a wonderful vacation 😊

You really pissed about the straw thing? Mexico cares about its oceans and aquatic life. Thank goodness they do because some people can’t drink directly from the cup like they do at home and don’t care that that straw it could end up in the ocean up a turtles nose. Kudos to Royal Holiday.
I'm sorry I think you misunderstood this info about the straws or perhaps I didn't make my message clear. Those signs about not using the straws are just a show. In the Platinum side they give you straws in every drink without even a thought. I saw people getting straws after they tipped the bartender. I'm pissed that they are using this just to get more tips. But I guess at the end of the day what's important is that there are less plastic being used in this hotel... Also I was just informing people of the situation about the straws, green thinkers or not for some people that is useful information.
Its naive to think that banning straw for tourists will change anything, while at the same time hotels/companies and just locals are wasting chemicals and trash into beaches and oceans. Go outside your butler service and AI walled secured hotels see real life in mexico
grishaaa1985 it’s not about banning straws for tourists, it’s about banning plastic straws for EVERYBODY EVERYWHERE. I would say you’re naïve for thinking that less plastic straws being used period won’t help, even if it’s just a little bit. And FYI I’ve never had a butler in my life and I do leave the resort and I’m well aware of the pollution situation especially in Tulum.
Question for you boss. I’m heading to this resort later on this year with my family including my 3 older brothers. We are all close in age but I will be the only one falling short of 18. It would be a shame if I wasn’t able to hang around because of an underage wrist band. My parents trust me to be responsible but also don’t know if they will be strict about it. Long explanation but get back to me if you can I would appreciate it
Hi! If I understand correctly your question is will you be able to hang out in a adults only pool? The adults only pool is for Laguna villa suite guests only, all Laguna villa rooms are for adults only, so if you are under age I am assuming that your parents are not reserving Laguna villa suites for your vacation? For Laguna villa suites, because it's adults only, there is only one kind of bracelet and its for 18+. Did I answer your question? Anyways, don't worry, there ara a lot of other, even more fun and big pools to hang out, all the entertainment is happening in the pool that is accessible for all the guests. So, hope you have a great vacation, let me know how it goes!
Can you reccomend a Shuttle?
Hi! I'm sorry, I can't recommend one. But I strongly advise you to book one before coming to Dominican Republic and do not get a taxi at the airport (google punta cana airport shuttle and search for the popular, big companies, the chance of you being schemed by this kind of company is very low). The best of luck to you!
Was there a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the water?
TRemix Hi! No, the beach looks pretty clean, there was almost no seaweed when we were visiting in January. Though I should mention that there are a lot of rocks as you walk in to swim. Actually almost broke one of my toes while walking in the water. I suggest to bring water shoes with you.
@@PoolsideTravels There was non stop seaweedd when i went this Sep xD
@@maisonkeithking Oh, I'm sad to hear that, hope it didn't affect your vacation and you still had a great time. But, yeah, depends on the season I guess... I saw that Tulum beach is full with seaweed and has been for all season, when usually it gets clean after a month or so. Some kind of changes happening there...
@@maisonkeithking Check out this vido, fast forward to 1:05 and look at this beach czcams.com/video/bCcTBSnp6rQ/video.html Now this beach looks just awful... Was the beach similar to this one?
I was there this June it was almost that bad.. We stayed in the swimout rooms. Here in Nov. we are going back but this time doing the laguna villa rooms, hope the beach is a bit better! :D
Hey, I’m planning for my birthday. Is everything included , like do we have to pay for the restaurant since it’s all included, Ik they buffet is free but what about activities and restaurant
Hi! Yes, everything is included the restaurants and activities as well. There are some wine bottles that cost extra, but the wine that is included is good and at some restaurants you can order lobster that also costs extra, but basically everything is included and you can do perfectly fine without the expensive wine an lobster 😄 Hope you have a wonderful birthday! 🎉
P.S .Activities like diving, snorkeling trips will cost you extra, but the activities at the resort like volleyball, foam parties, water aerobics etc. they are free.
How costly are we talking lol ?
How costly are we talking lol ?
Not that much..if the prices have not changed then around 50,60$ for the lobster and for wine or champagne starting at 50$ and more for a bottle. But as I said before you can have delicious meals and drinks that are included.
Hello, is there WiFi available in this hotel? Travelling here next week
Ryan Walker There is WiFi available in this hotel, and it is very good actually. Does not work on the beach, but works good in restaurants, by the pool, bars, rooms etc.
Ryan Walker Have a great vacation!
Fantastic, thank you very much!
when did you go because it is not crowded. I dislike crowds
Hi! I went in early January and it wasn't crowded. But the weather was not perfect, some days it was raining and it was cold. Probably that's why it wasn't crowded.
Thanks so much
Be here in 2 weeks lol
I fell for that jewelry scam, still feel stupid for that
So sorry that they scamed you. But don't feel bad. They are professionals at what they do, I would probably fell for it too if I hadn't overheard two women talking about this scam. And people fell for much worse scams, so this is a good lesson for everyone to always be alert.
