One thing that I find really refreshing about seasons 5 and 6 is how Lucifer and Chloe have actual conversations. She found out the truth at the end of season 3, but even after that it was a long time before they started to get on the same page and move past all the drama and miscommunication. Here we get to see Chloe actively trying to think about how she would feel in Lucifer's shoes, and it's nice.
What sells this scene to me is how Lucifer's smile goes away as he realizes the look of fear from Dan's face. He has seen that look many times and knows that Dan knows.
I think Lucifer is invulnerable with Chloe now as a reflection of his feelings for Chloe. He feels invinsible now and finally getting what he desires. That is why the mojo thing got transferred to Chloe as well. I’d be interesting to see if Luci is now vulnerable without Chloe around. He got his mojo back out of his desire to find her.
This is actually very good question... Before he was vulnerable around her(insecure) and everywhere else he felt strong, but if now he feels strong around her and without her around he can feel vulnerable or afraid... thiis is goin to be fun, if this is it..
I have another theory is maybe lucifer realized the he doesn't need to show his emotions through his vulnerability, which means lucifer still loves Chloe but he realized he doesn't need to show it by being vulnerable.
Not quite sure if anyone will see this but in season 2 ep 12 the scene where he go to bar and met up with Maze and his mom. He said whatever that is they are telling them he doesn’t care. Because he was happy that he and Chloe was real. Then he said he feel “invincible” I believe that their relation empower each other which was already said. Anyways my theory is that when Chloe was attack in that ep he felt helpless and useless watching her about to be attack. So maybe he switch back to being invulnerable. I don’t think him being invulnerable mean he doesn’t care about Chloe or is shutting her out. I think he starting to act more like himself and doesn’t have to be “human” around her anymore. Cuz he knows how she feel about him. But at the same times he is having trouble about his identity and maybe self hatred. Can’t wait for 5b to see what will happen but until then thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
I love it. It really makes a lot of sense, I was wondering about a reasonable explanation for all of the sudden exchange as I don’t think as well he’s shutting her down or not letting her in. I just hope it’s not part of Michael’s bigger plan 🤞🏻
Oh he cared about her my ass when he was sleeping around with other women through the whole episode Chloe deserves better than Lucifer anyways he doesn't know how to keep his dick in his pants🤔🙄😡🤬😠
I think Luci is scared to show Chloe he's true self. He still must have problems with hating himself, which was mentioned in season 4, even though thousands of years have passed for him, the way he sees himself hasn't changed much. The moment he realised that detective may be able to see what he sees, he's terrified.
No he was scared about that through previous seasons mostly in seasons 1-3. No I don't think he hates himself because now he has the woman he loves and knows she loves him as he is, she accepted his devil side. He is probably scared because all this episode he felt powerless to help her especially when he was paralyzed by the copycat killer and was unable to save her
I think that subconsciously Lucifer made himself vulnerable around Chloe to show that he cared but never realized it because it was subconscious, and now that he knows that she cares too he realized he didn’t need to do that anymore and made himself invulnerable again
I think part of him made him vulnerable around Chloe because he subconsciously thought him being invulnurable would scare her away. He wanted her to believe but he was also scared that she would, and that it would make her run away. Obviously he has deeply cared about her since season 1 and this hasn't changed. Now he just realized that it's okay to be himself as he is and all of his fears that she would run away and disappear forever was just that. He can finally be himself around her without fearing the worst is going to happen. We know that his self-actualization impacts how his divinity works. If he subconsciously believes he has deserved wings, whether or not he actually wants them, wings it is. And until that belief shifts, he can't get rid of them and they'll keep popping out as we saw in season 3. 😆 Which is another funny thought. Lucifer may be a Fallen angel. But he never fell from God's grace like Amenadiel did. Meaning subconsciously Lucifer has never thought he was undeserving of the wings his father gave him.
Lucifer is like an oyster. He started to open up to Chloe but now that he realized what it meant he's scared and shut her out (with his unvulnerability).
Personally, I don't think that's really what's happening. Because you can see throughout episode 8 that he's completely devoted to saving Chloe, and then he hugs her twice unabashedly, with no nervousness or reservation. If we're going by the logic that his new invulnerability means he's shut her out, it wouldn't make any sense based on their relationship over the last several seasons. He shut her out emotionally for half of season 2 and most of season 3 --- and as far as we know, he was vulnerable through all of that. I think it's more likely that he's either decided he feels invulnerable when they are together, or he feels he needs to be stronger in order to help Chloe when she needs it. If you remember, this sudden invulnerability comes directly after he's been paralyzed by the fake Whisper Killer. He probably hated feeling so powerless and being unable to do anything for Chloe in that moment.
I think he become invulnerable around Chloe now, is that because Chloe accepted Lucifer as the devil and Lucifer started not hating himself anymore. Like Michael and Amenadiel, angels are self-actualized. Lucifer always afraid that Chloe will not accept himself as himself and also as the devil, and he subconsciously become like human around Chloe (that is, being vulnerable), but since Chloe accepted himself now, he also gradually accepted himself.
I agree! The first episode he was invulnerable..but by the 3rd or 4th one, he was already starting to feel an emotional connection with her. There was a car scene in "manly whatnots" that he asked her if she was scared of him. She responds, no. And I think at that moment he chose subconsciously not to be invulnerable. I think he truly didn't want her to be afraid of him.
Remember when Ella and her phycho boy are comparing their jobs/lives. About how they made each other stronger ? . I choose to believe this is why Lucifer is back to full power. Being with Chloe makes him better - stronger.
I think form when chloe walked away and Dan came in those few seconds i think Lucifer made a choice self consciously to put back up his guard around Chloe if that makes sense
I dont think that's the case...I think he became invulnerable when he could help chloe at all during the case, and had to watch her struggle versus the killer. I think that changed him
I actually think that because he's slept with her and accepted she makes him vulnerable that HOW that happens has changed. The original literal sense was because he was so emotionally resilient and would never see it without it being painfully obvious. He's embraced that, now he's accepted something far more dangerous than his body is at stake for her. His heart. His existence as existence itself knows it. Compared to that, what is a meatsuit?
I think he became invulnerable again because he was so powerless when the murderer earlier in the episode tried to kill chloe. He doesn't want to feel like that again and not be able to save chloe, up until that point his invulnerability could never have gotten chloe hurt. And then I also think that he didn't want chloe to have to see him die. In that moment he wanted more than anything to live for her. And protect her. Just a thought you know.
I wanna believe he's put up his invulnerable for a good reason and stuff but there's something about the tone of the music and his facial expression when he says he's dropped his guard that worries me.
Maybe it's worrying him, but maybe he has to think it over and decide what is more important for him. Being with Chloe undoubtedly makes him happy and after all these years in hell he's still so in love with her, so rejecting her would make no sense. He can choose her over his unvulnerability.
It's more like his invulnerability comes right after he couldn't help her with the killer. Remember, he becomes invulnerable right after the killer scene. He felt useless without the jojo, and then couldn't help her with the serial killer, he became invulnerable to protect her.
Lucifers invulnerability in this instance makes sense to me, when we’re around the people we most care about they are most able to manipulate us(Chloe being able to use Lucifer’s mojo on him) but at the same time that person makes us feel invincible(Lucifer being invincible around Chloe)
I think it is more like a realization that being vulnerable and losing his power was all in his own self-hypnotized state and him realizing it has broken it. It is not like he doesn't love her. Earlier he saw how Ella and Pete empowered each other as opposed to the give-take part he was seeing in his own relationship.
The showrunners did say that the prophecy was actually Lucifer releasing evil from within himself. So the whole "finds his first love evil will be released" thing is really just Lucifer falling in love with Chloe and getting over his self hatred.
