      Chicken feed: what would be the motivation to stop layers from laying eggs? For the feed companies to lose their market for layer feed? Do we really think ALL of the feed companies would comply? This is still a free country where businesses want to succeed and get ahead. I work for a global livestock feed company and this would never fly at our place.
      We are in an egg deficit in the US right now because of highly pathogenic avian influenza. Flocks have been destroyed to stop the spread of the disease. This is the reason the price of eggs is so high right now, along with high input costs (high grain prices, diesel, etc). I cannot justify a reason for a conspiracy to reduce egg numbers.

      @TheSuesido Před rokem

      @@ericfarrand5534 I have a great deal of respect for what you do. Personally, I have never been called a conspiracy theorist, but there are simply far too many "oddities" going on that are crushing our food supply, and far too many things happening that stink of the government demanding we totally rely on them for everything. Food for thought, have you ever read 1984? Perhaps read it, especially about Soylent Green . It sounds hauntingly similar to what is happening now. Recall when Venezuela (hardly a third world country) was taken over by radical socialist globalists.....at the very least I believe people need to continue to discuss the "oddities" they see before someone tells us all not to believe what we see for ourselves.

    My chickens used to lay all year round. This past summer I started feeding 16% protein crumbles from Tractor Supply. They stopped laying daily, and a couple stopped laying altogether. I have 36 laying hens and I’ve always purchased Dumor and Producer’s Pride chicken feed from Tractor Supply. Between the months of Aug-Nov of this past year my chickens quit laying eggs. I changed over to a local feed producer and within a week my egg production increased from practically zero to 18-20 daily.

    I’ve been trying to find the email to write into The Smiths regarding the loss of my family’s new baby. He was a full term stillborn with a knotted cord that the OBGYN never noticed. My family is broken, and my wife is devastated. Monday would have been his C-Section date. This Saturday was his due date. He was born sleeping January 9th. Listening to Granger has helped me get through this horrible time. Thank you Granger and the entire Smith family for all you provide.

    It is NOT a C Theory. Tractor Supply admitted they changed their formula this last yr.....claims is supply chain issue. Some in the Homesteading community have tested the Mass produced feed. There is far less protein than needed, and 1-2 enzymes missing that is necessary for hens to lay and be fertile. Big box stores, and mass produced feed that has multiple labels for multiple companies has been affected. Larger egg suppliers for the country have also noticed a significant drop, hence eggs being in low supply (same goes for the avian bird flu hype)re having this issue. This is being done on purpose....all by design...goes hand in hand w what's going on the last few yrs. We are newer Homesteaders (5yrs), and having a small ytube channel ourselves.....we have had egg layers for 4 yrs, and the last 2 yrs we butchered cornish hens. We had an issue w our hens laying starting around end of summer, early fall. We werr getting half what we were used to previous yrs, and currently we are getting 2eggs a day, and we usually get 10-12 in the winter. We have contacted a local feed supplier, that doesn't do chicken feed, but was able to forward us onto someone not too far away that we can get some numbers. Otherwise making your own feed is what we are intending to do (aftet the Blizzard conditions roll through). Shooting Star is actually a couple hrs away as well, we are on other side of the river in ND. I follow your channel, and listen to your music; but was NOT aware you'd be so close.....otherwise we would've come to watch. Haven't been to Shooting Star in abouy a decade now🙃. Hope your get here safely with how bad the weather is gonna be. God Bless from Homesteading in the Heartland🥰

Just like when they are molting. Their energy goes into growing new feathers. God has a plan for everything. I guess most of them are new to chicken keeping. It’s a continuous learning experience. I have 80 laying hens. The only slow down I have had this past year has been during molting time. All of mine are first winter layers so I would not expect any slow down and haven’t had any. Just a fun fact, hens typically only lay thru winter their first year. I do not make homemade feed rations, I use a non gmo mix from my local feed store. It is half the price of anything at tractor supply.

    I been having chicken since I was seven years old and they never lay during the winter. Only spring and summer and sometimes fall it’s still warm. If you want your chicken to have eggs all year around then you have to keep it at a certain temperature. For your chickens to lay doing winter time you have to keep the hen house between 60 and 75 degrees. This is simple add the three things below in to the nest boxes of your chicken cage. What this does is trick the chickens thinking that winter is never going to happen and they will continue to lay eggs all around. Just like they do commercially.

    My chickens started laying again. They just molted twice this year and so it was a lot of time this year spent in molt without eggs. Just be patient and after the molt they’ll start up again. Also some breeds dont lay much in winter and neighbors have hung christmas lights in their coop and reported more eggs with increased light. I just leave my girls be and they do their thing. I get what i get and am happy with it. Theyre on store bought feed but the feed store makes it. Real good feed, keeps the girls shiny and hard egg shells too.

  • @northmsoutdoors
    @northmsoutdoors Před rokem

    Yes, our chickens went through a period of not laying as well. I heard it was because of Producers Pride and Dumor feed from Tractor Supply. We get our feed at the Co-op now and they have started back laying. Not that I actually believe it but if they are not getting enough protein they will stop laying.
