Faulter they did not of their greed for greatly they have done us well in those times. It dreads me greatly that this song was merely a foreshadowing concept that would later be of treachery against those that beloved their work and the works of others in their field. Its shameful how much has changed over the years. It begs the question through the outcry of a hurt child within all of us only to say "why cant things go back to the way they were once before?" • @RichterBelmont2235

    This theme represents Richter Belmont's death, a requiem. Even more interesting is that it was Dracula who plays this in the intro, either to mock the last of the Belmont line or to acknowledge the strongest foe the count ever faced.

    • @michaelallen7146
      @michaelallen7146 Před 5 lety +114

      Given how "triumphant" and then it turns grim. It could easily just represent Dracula acknowledging the strength of not just the Belmonts, but human spirit as a whole (And paying tribute to Leon Belmont who he was friends with.) But also the corruption of their greatest weapon, The Vampire Killer whip. Which we know uses Richter's memory to test wielders of the whip due to it being its last pure user in centuries... And the one who held it before Shaft's magic corrupted Richter and refused to fight (Since it still held the soul of Leon's lover: Sara Trantoul.) Now. A weakened vampire killer and Reinhardt Schnieder. a human with the blood of a Belmont. He will destroy Dracula's curse a little longer. Just until he can return the whip to the rightful family.
      Or that's my two pence.

      Richter Belmont I would say is to show a little of respect for the Belmont. In Dracula X Chronicles, he had a short conversation with him, but a conversation that he found ''amusing''.

    • @condeaarondarkusexcubitor3155
      @condeaarondarkusexcubitor3155 Před 4 lety +26

      One could argument that Drac had a little more of respect to Richter than other Belmonts, mainly because he, at least, had a ''more razonable'' motive to fight against his forces. More than just ''is just because you are evil'', he believes that, under that behavior, Drac doesn't worthy of being alive, or at least, shouldn't be executing genocide.
      Drac can estimate opponents, specially if they try to understand his point of view.

    Both C64 and Legacy of darkness are vastly underrated games to the point some call them(especially C64) some of the worst in the series. For my money, these were the best 3D Castlevania games in the series and certainly among the best. The atmosphere, music and story are 2nd to none in a Castlevania game. The Ps2 entries, while solid in their own right, did not have the same feel with the atmosphere and the environments such as the corridors get redundant. They also lacked all of the platforming elements that made C64 and LOD great games(tower of science, outer wall, clock tower, tower of sorcery, tower of execution, tower of ruins, etc). Malus made the perfect Dracula as well. It is too bad they never made more Castlevania games than these. But alas, the public is too obsessed with those 2d metroidvania games.

      I remember watching a tier ranking of all CV games and one guy said “CV64 had a rlly unique story you don’t see in the other games” which I thought was neat. I haven’t played any games more recent than LOD lmao, but it’s interesting knowing CV64 is the only one who had a child Dracula? Malus was really neat, and this song is even more neat because in LOD it was said Dracula would come back to the tune of a destructive melody. So I’m guessing Malus, living in the cabin with his parents, played THIS SONG, and memories from Dracula came back to him. It’s mental, being some kid in a cabin only to realize ur the dark lord haha. I really enjoyed these two n64 games. (Also people cry at it being outdated but the Mario 64 controls are CRAZY outdated like that camera was ass, but u don’t see people trashing the whole game over it)

      The N64 games come the closest to capturing the feel of the old Hammer Dracula films the series is based on.

    • @jmn327
      @jmn327 Před 3 lety +7

      I do think it's fair to acknowledge how rough the controls and camera were in the 64 games, but I agree: no other titles in the series managed to capture so much atmosphere, mood, and general eeriness. For 1998 it was at times a genuinely creepy, sometimes terrifying (hello, hedge maze chase!) game, and that's not a feeling most other CV titles have really captured.
      Plus, the N64 titles seemed to really try and translate traditional Castlevania into 3D; again, that's something that hasn't really been tried again, and it's kind of a pity, since I think that could be done so much better today. And hey, they're the first games in the series that had more than one level with vampires as actual enemies, AND vampirism as a condition status, that's gotta count for something.

      They can think and say whatever they like, but the dark atmosphere, the loneliness and the sense of peril of this one no other Castlevania managed to capture. As for the music! Oh, the music...absolutely compliments the character of the game and is far more appropriate for a vampire game than the j-rock of the rest of the series.

After all, the 64vanias have a great deal of platforming, a lot of casuals came from Symphony of Easy and were unprepared for the unfairness of Castlevania platforming but granted, the woods in cv64 weren't the easiest way to introduce them to that 3D enviroment

    I was 11 listening to this masterpiece, playing Castlevania 64 at 12 at night on my own. I was so captivated by its story and characters, the mandgragora and thr necronomicon, such big words at the time. The bloodlines or families , Carrie Belnades and the Belmonts, or even the side characters that were also vampire hunters, were so original back in 1999.
    It's insane I used to play this even though it's filled with so much occultism, considering I grew up in a Jehovahs witness family. Fortunately, my God mothers' kids owned an N64, and it was practically mine. Thanks to that, I had a beautiful upbringing. My cousins would later watch me play it for hours and go on to become game designers. Later in life, I'd watch my kids play it for hours and share the story and fantasy lore with them.

      It's the harvest moon. In ancient times people feared greatly that the souls of man would be reaped at the end times, but it was to teach us the reaping of the crops for the harvest. To apply this during the mid 1800's centered around a gothic lore and atmospheric adventure omnipotently lingering over the castle leaving a divinity vs goliath foundation of epic excitement of vast uncertainties that were waiting to be unveiled. Capturing a tale for you to unravel. Beautiful is it not as the music plays ominously in the background as you are reading this. Truly captivating that cold shiver slithering down your spine. The painting of the piece has such an excellent wonder for the eyes to feast upon.

I believe this game had more influence than people gave it credit for. The use of 3D was ahead of its time, clunky but still serviceable. The atmosphere was perfect, dark and spooky, but not heavy handed, the characters you played as felt unique and brought strengths and weaknesses but the OST is by far the mvp of the game. For the time it has aged pretty well, and it has provided some of the most interesting and beautiful renditions of Castlvania oldies. The intro Opposing Bloodlines, the art and science tower and many others are just amazing at conveying the Castlevania feel.

    Honestly, this song sounds like a lament of all whose lives and/or families, friends and loved ones have been tainted, blighted, taken or outright ruined because of Dracula and his forces.
    It may be easy to miss, but this game especially highlights what happens to those who the forces of darkness prey upon and those whose lives are effectively stolen from them.
    Rosa. Camilla Fernandez. Charlie Vincent (if you take too long to reach the end). Heinrich Meyer. Actrise's daughter and the other 99 children her mother gleefully murdered. Henry Oldrey's parents. Ada's family and those killed by the man-beast tribe. The children Henry rescues. Several of the vampire enemies who were fed upon and forcibly turned (like the vampiress fought near the Underground Waterway entrance). The unnamed corpse found in the Forest of Silence. And even possibly Malus himself (possibly being the key word here.)
    This is a lament for those made casualties in this war against the Prince of Darkness. And a mournful dirge for the ones who couldn't be saved in this war against Castlevania's master now going into it's four century with no way of permanently killing Dracula in sight.

    I used to not start the game for awhile cause of this song. I think this game is so underrated i love this game. Sure it's not the best one in the series but still a solid game for it's time. Much love for an awesome game. One of my favorite games for the 64

    Richter's theme in a game without Richter?

      Its fits considering Reinhardt is a decendant from Richter.

    • @AdrianFahrenheitTepes
      @AdrianFahrenheitTepes Před 7 měsíci +1

      Reinhardt Schneider was Richter’s Great Grandson. Richter presumably had daughters, one of his daughters married a man named Schneider, she had a son named Michael Schneider, who in turn inherited the vampire killer and taught his son Reinhardt. The manual states that Reinhardt always was proud of how he was the direct descendant of Richter.

    • @kai0318

      Nintendo didn't make this, Konami did. The closest Nintendo has done close to that "not family friendly" are the entire Metroid series... or every one of Kirby's final bosses.

    ngl I find it kinda funny that a large chunk of the comments on this video spoil the fact that Malus is really Dracula with the same cavalier attitude as someone spoiling the fact that Sephiroth kills Aerith at the alter in Final Fantasy 7.

    • @1angelicdemon1
      @1angelicdemon1 Před 4 lety +1

      Well bare in mind the name malus kinda gives it away. Malice being of malevolence. I played this game years ago. To see a child play violin so well and finding out his name later on. My goosebumps were trying to warn me, but did I not know he would be Dracula. The big twist indeed

      @@1angelicdemon1Malus was a child, Dracula used him to reincarnate, killing him. Guess he couldn’t find his own kid as a victim of his scheme at the time.

      Not yet, but I wouldn’t mind if Legacy of Darkness got some kind of re-release. I never really hated CV64 back a while ago. I was disappointed with how Cornell was a broken character where not much changed if he did his werewolf transformation. But overall, I feel like it was a good first time at 3D Castlevania.
