Kyosho PureTen GP Spider Mk2 - GS11R - Test #1

A quick swap from the CEN NX12 engine to a correct for chassis Kyosho GS11R that came on a “wrecked” Kyosho Spider GP Mk2 I bought.
I was able to fix the broken pull-start and clean up the engine to a point where I was hoping it’d work.
Once I started getting the single-needle carb towards the factory setting (1-2 turns from fully in) it started being able to be started and driven.
The engine manual indicates 3/4 to 1 turn is all that’s needed once run-in. I’m being a bit conservative and slowly working back from the 2-turns out setting used for run-in.

This is awesome, i have one exacly like that, it stayed catching dust for 20 years and i did my best in restoring it. Everything is still original and working (except lines and filters). Im thinking of putting a better engine on it now

KrYpz0n I put a ABC 15 engine on one of mine. It’s a bit better to drive, although I think a GXR15 would be even better.

I love kyosho , I have a 4 stroke spider that's shortened to a mini cooper body , I have their spada and mantis mini , I will never go back to electric ! .

京商純正のGS11Rエンジンは丈夫で、適度なパワーで始動性も悪くなかったし、燃費も良く、このmark IIにはまさに丁度良い感じでした。
mark IIが発売された頃から搭載可能なボディーやタイヤの種類も豊富になり、結構長く楽しめた一台でしたよ。
足回りや純正シャシーの軟弱さはありましたが、いずれもオプションパーツで対策できましたし、サーキットによっては柔らかいままのほうがよく走っていましたね。
ボディーは、安定した走りを求めるなら「ポルシェ911GT1」や「メルセデスCLK-GTR」がお勧めです。
「オペルカリブラDTM」も良かった印象があります。

I have this same rig, I am struggling to find any of the original hop up parts like the side exit exhaust

It took me almost 2 years to find the correct exhaust manifold, and then the correct side muffler for the hop-up option.
I’m now trying to build up a good GS11R and get all the little extra bits needed to make it run on a car!

lfsantosgeo definitely a GS11R in mine, although some of the first release kits were GS11X. :)

Some kts had the GS11X, but most had the GS11R. The difference was sleeve or ball bearings supporting the crankshaft.

I’ll definitely have to check my car to see if it’s the GS11X or the GS11R... If I remember correctly it is the X. Quite similar to yours. Guess there aren’t much differences among these engines then

I think there's enough GS11R crankcase sets available to buy to make your GS11X a GS11R :)

Anokopwvas Asap I think the camera tries to even out the volume. However the engine is fairly quiet too with the factory muffler
