My folks might not have liked my practicing a tuba in their house. A band director would have been glad to have me on board.

An excellent and interesting video. However, I would like to offer a suggestion--some viewers might not know what is meant be a 'half step', etc., so playing a Bb and then pressing the 2nd valve to produce A would illustrate this point more effectively by providing a 'side-by-side' contrast.
I'm an Alto Saxophonist soon to be a tenor Saxophonist, I'd love to try playing tuba though

Chris Olka, one of the best tubist said that he wanted to play the saxophone in band, but tuba was the only avaiable spot. Go for it!
@@matijajerman2005 two years later, I play Upright Bass in the bluegrass way and Electric Bass, I build banjos and ukuleles. Haven't touched a sax in a year since I sold my Tenor for vinyl, would love to buy a baritone sax or tuba someday still-

After playing tuba for a year, I'm envious because I can't get any of the fundamentals (pedal tones). I can get a few "false tones" such the Eb, D, Db, C...but nothing beyond that. I have a Conn 20J and an Olds 099.
What Mouthpiece does he use?

Where’s he now? He’s Japanese right? Come help us in Tohoku 😊. My 3rd grader plays the tuba but wants to change to sax because it ‘looks cooler’.

What tuba does he use?
Meinl Weston 195 "Fafner" Bb Tuba. One of the best Bb tubas there is out there

Why does he say some notes are the same when they're clearly not (though fairly close)?
Short answer: The tubing. 1 + 2 tubing is the same length as 3, but the 3 may be tuned differently than the 1 and 2, causing them to be a little off.

He forgot to mention that 1234, Open, 13, 4, 123, and 24 all can play middle F.
123 and 24 will give you an E. 1234 will give you a "Pedal" C.
You can play High F with any fingering
Not every fingering but yeah
