  • A watch I've had since 2017 that Grand Seiko made for a short time. It's one of my favorite watches and I wish Grand Seiko would revive it, but we all know that's not going to happen.

It’s just too good. I have the black dial SBGX261 which I LOVE, but sometimes the sword hands feel just a little fancy for me. I think the addition of lume to the hands on your watch (and 4 of the indices, lovely) make it that little bit more casual which is what really sets it apart. I love love love it. Definitely a nice looking dress watch, however, that ticking center seconds hand is a deal breaker. If it used the Seiko Meca-quartz with the smooth running seconds hand this definitely would be a consideration for my collection. Seiko’s attention to detail on the dial and case is unmatched in its price range.

I think antimagnetic watches using a "cage" to make them antimagnetic specifically DO make it out of ferromagnetic material such as soft iron (which is about as ferrous as you can get) to create a Faraday cage for the movement inside.

Everything you said. It's amazing to me that GS no longer has a simple three hand quartz, or any simple three hand sports watch with lume. They do have ONE with a date complication and lume, the SBGP007 but this is EOL and I think USA specific. Yes, they have three handers without lume. And people say Zaratsu polishing, who needs lume?? BS! GS sports watches have both Zaratsu and lume. Obviously it's needed. But as you point out GS no longer even has the kind of nice but kind of chunky SBGX341 (white dial) and 343 (black dial). What I really want is a three hander with lume and a version of the 9F85 movement but without date, but with the 9F85 independent hour hand for time zone changes. There is Citizen's The Citizen, specifically the AQ4091 variants which do have lume and also solar charging--the design is pretty nice despite the date complication. But to repeat what you said in the video, come on GS!!

@@mybrainlikesthings I've heard that the GS promise of +/- 10 spy for their 9Fs is a bit conservative. Either way you are getting a very, very accurate watch, but I give a slight edge to GS in here because they provide a trimmer screw. In a few decades the watch may run slightly faster or slower and the trimmer allows you to correct it. HOWEVER, there's so much else to consider when comparing GS quartz with "The Citizens", such as overall comfort. I've recently tried a cheaper Citizen eco-drive in titanium (ref. AT6080-53L) and I've been _impressed_ , while on the other hand the 9Fs I considered were in steel, and nobody raves about GS bracelets... I'll be choosing "The Citizen", probably ref. AQ4091-56L.
