  • In this video we will be talking about how to take control of your life from the philosophy of Plato. His philosophy is often referenced as Platonic idealism. According to Plato, you need to take control over your life by first conquering yourself.
    Another important lesson we can learn from Plato’s philosophy is that first you need to take control over your life by first conquering yourself, your impulses and drives, in order to live a moral and fulfilling life. To better understand the Platonic philosophy on how we can better take control over our lives, here are 5 lessons from the philosophy of Plato:
    01. Change your mindset
    02. Change your habits
    03. Be in control of your emotions and behavior
    04. Pursue your deepest passions
    05. Be the leader of your life
    I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope these 5 ways to help you take control of your life from the philosophy of Plato will add value to your life.
    Plato is one of the most famous philosophers of all time. He represented the philosophy of ancient Greece, belonging to its Classical Period. He was born into an aristocratic and influential family in Athens, where he founded the Academy, the first institution of higher learning in the entire Western world. Along with his mentor Socrates, and his student Aristotle, Plato is one of the most influential individuals in the entire history of humankind. It can even be said that he is one of the pillars of Western civilisation. His philosophy is often referenced as Platonic idealism and his biggest contribution is the Theory of Forms or Doctrine of Ideas, which asserts that the physical world is not the real world. Instead, ultimate reality exists beyond our physical world, in the world of ideas. Plato was not only a prominent figure of philosophy, but also of religion and spirituality; so-called Neo-platonism deeply influenced Christian theology. Plato invented the written dialogue and dialectic form of philosophy. Some of his most famous books are The Republic, The Symposium, The Apology of Socrates, Allegory of the Cave and The Dialogues of Plato, in which the main character is Socrates, who influenced Plato’s philosophy to a great extent. His entire work has survived for more than 2,400 years and has remained very popular the entire time. Like his mentor, Plato was a practical philosopher and there are many life lessons to learn from his philosophy.

    I lost control over it since I was 20 and I'm 27 now, it's sickening.. I never thought that the trauma and anxiety will keep me from living this long but it really did. Now I'm trying to process things as if I'm sinking deeply into an ocean and I'm trying to get rid of all what's weighing me down in order to reach the surface and breath some fresh air then go live on a land instead of the suffocating ocean.

      After a great loss in my life, philosophy saved me from the pain and suffering of this event, and during the healing process showed me how to straighten my life in issues I knew about but also in others I ignored, it got me close to myself, God and the rest of the world. Rasha Aya no matter how you feel inside, or what your past has been, life has given you the elements required to overcome the problems within you, just go straight to the true cause of your sorrows, and put them in the true dimensions they really are, you will find out that you are much stronger than you feel or think. My love and best wishes to you! and remember: Ne te quaesiveris extra!

    "One of the great philosophers of Greece, Plato, was a contemporary of Diogenes. They were continuously in controversy because Diogenes was a mystic and he knew things which Plato could not even dream of, although Plato was a great philosopher. And in the books and the histories of philosophy, you will find Plato, you will not find Diogenes. But the real thing was with Diogenes, not with Plato, who was a great thinker, a giant intellectual. Diogenes was a simple, childlike, innocent man, but he knew something which thousands of Platos together could not know.
    One day, when Plato was on a morning walk by the side of the sea, he saw a man. It was early in the morning, a little dark - the sun had not risen yet. He could not figure out who the man was. This man was Diogenes and in a spoon he was bringing… He would go to the ocean, take the water in the spoon - he had made a small hole in the sand - pour the water into the sand, and then go back.
    Plato, standing there, saw him doing it. He looked like a madman. For a moment he thought, “I should not interfere.” But such is the mind - it becomes curious: “Maybe he is not mad; perhaps he is doing something meaningful and I am not aware of it. And what is wrong if I ask him?” So he said, “Please forgive me for interrupting. I don’t want to interrupt you - you may be involved in some great work - but what is going on?”
    Diogenes said, “I am trying to empty the ocean.”
    Plato said, “My God, with this teaspoon?”
    And then the sun was rising and Diogenes started laughing and said, “Plato, what else are you doing?” Then Plato recognized Diogenes. He used to live naked, but that day he was covered with a cloth, just to hide himself, so Plato would not know him at first. Otherwise he might not have interrupted.
    Plato was simply stunned, he could not answer. Diogenes said, “That’s what you are trying to do. Your mind is nothing but a teaspoon and with it you are trying to exhaust the oceanic existence. What I am doing is just to remind you… I know it is not possible. You should also remember that what you are doing is impossible.”

    Certainly, there is no replacement for a well-disciplined life according to Plato's philosophy, but we need to remember, too, that we live in a world of blood sucking vampires who are always trying to control us and others. My point is that sometimes we need more than self-discipline. Sometimes we need to be liberated from oppressive situations. Such a philosophy as Plato's should also help us to recognize those things (people, drugs, etc.) which are holding us back.

    • @quintonsuyker6526
      @quintonsuyker6526 Před 2 lety

      I often question what are these blood suckers you speak of. Do they actually exist? Or is it what we see alone that makes them real?
      Like, say the government, because most beleive they are infact blood suckers. Is this the only reason they are? Its my beleif thats the case. And we possibly could be the blood sucker we are blaming

    • @gordondills2773
      @gordondills2773 Před 2 lety

      @@quintonsuyker6526 The blood suckers I speak of are those who very naturally fit into or make use of our present economic system. That is, one can take advantage of another as long as such a deal is within the limits of the law. I have found in my life that many people care about being fair in their dealings with others, and I have found that there are many others who will take advantage of others for economic gain no matter how cruel and unfair the deal. Just because one can take advantage of another does not mean that one should.
      Disciplined thought and action, in the Platonic sense, is certainly desired, but my point is that it is not the whole story. An extreme example would be a well disciplined philosopher living in Ukraine. No matter how well disciplined such a one is, if his house and business are bombed out of existence, all that he had worked for is lost because of some others thirst for power completely out of his hands. Less extreme, the same is true for factory workers fighting for better conditions-many times we are at the hands of blood sucking vampires. The old saying is still true. It’s not what you know; It’s who you know. It’s not how well disciplined you are; it’s who you’re related to. I’ve seen old men who have worked hard and lived disciplined lives, still die in poverty.

For me his most outstanding areas are Logic (basic foundations of all modern computer programming) biological investigations and classification and his texts on politics and metaphysics. I definitely don’t agree with everything he says or wrote nor do I agree totally with any philosopher. If you are studying philosophy and you don’t cover Aristotle you’re are not getting a rounded perspective on philosophical thought.

    I think that Plato is quite toxic. His world is a fairy tale disconnected from reality. And good and bad principle only makes people feel worse and hate themselves.

    I hate the analogy of the horses, why does the black horse have to be bad and ugly and the white nice and modest???

    I'm not about compliance, sorry but the people in positions of power need to be held accountable for their immoralities and this shows nothing of that. Personally speaking of course.

    Thoughts of Plato are absolutely irrelevant in 2022. They didn’t even have proper toilets, nor they knew electricity.

      The world is changing , but human beings are still the same: self righteousness, greedy, selfish, full of pride and lots of sinful thoughts. In some ways, we try to do good, however, the lust and desire deep inside our hearts fail us. The struggle never ends, we need to find the best way out of all the problems. The way can be found only in the Bible.

      In the year 507 B.C., the Athenian leader Cleisthenes introduced a system of political reforms that he called demokratia, or “rule by the people” (from demos, “the people,” and kratos, or “power”). It was the first known democracy in the world.Aug 19, 2019

    : / 1- THIS VIDEO AND OTHERS LIKE IT, WITH ITS MESSAGE, IS JUST NOT THE TRUTH! 2- WE ARE ALL BORN GOD, OUR FATHERS CHILDREN, BORN WITH A "SINFUL NATURE" ( WE ARE APART FROM GOD OUR FATHER, AND HAVE BEEN GIVEN FREE WILL! WE ALSO HAVE BEEN A CONSCIENCE TO LET US KNOW WHAT IS "RIGHT" AND WHAT IS WRONG" ACCORDING TO OUR FATHERS SPIRIT AND ESSENCE. HOWEVER, WE ARE AFFECTED, INFLUENCED, CONDITIONED, PUT INTO ALL KINDS OF SITUATIONS, AND CIRCUMSTANCES, THAT HAVE A TREMENDOUS AFFECT ON US ALL, IN INDIVIDUAL LEVELS OF SEVERITY, AND DAMAGE! WHICH THEN AFFECTS OUR SELVES AND OUR LIVES! 3- NON OF US ARE CAPABLE OF BEING "TOTAL CONTROL" OF OURSELVES, OR OUR "LIVES" ( BUT WE CAN CERTAINLY TRY ) 4- WE NEED TO BE SAVED FROM OURSELVES BASICALLY, AND CAN ONLY BE SAVED BY THE PERSON WHO WAS SENT BY GOD OUR FATHER TO HELP US ALL WITH THAT EXPERIENCE AND PROCESS! JESUS CHRIST! HE IS OUR BIG BROTHER AND OUR SAVIOR! NO ONE CAN BE FORGIVEN OR GET BACK TO THE FATHER WITHOUT GOING THROUGH JESUS FIRST! SO ANYONE WHO WANTS FORGIVENESS, WHO WANTS RECONNECTION WITH OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN? AND WANTS TO KNOW THE TRUTH IN ALL THINGS INSIDE OF THEMSELVES AND OUTSIDE OF THEMSELVES AROUND THEM? THEN THAT PERSON WILL HAVE TO FIRST GO TO JESUS FOR FORGIVENESS, HEALING, UNDERSTANDING, RECONNECTION, GUIDANCE, PEACE, JOY, DIRECTION, AND ULTIMATELY SALVATION! 5- THIS IS THE ONLY TRUTH! THE CHOICE IS ALL OF OURS TO CHOOSE, INDIVIDUALLY! ........... JESUS SAID IN THE FIRST BOOK OF THE NEW TESTAMENT IN THE HOLY BIBLE, THE BOOK OF MATTHEW, IN THE FAMOUS SERMON ON THE MOUNT: " I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE! NO ONE CAN GET TO THE FATHER, EXCEPT BUT THROUGH ME! ANY ONE WHO ASKS FOR ME? WILL RECIEVE ME! ANY ONE WHO SEEKS ME? WILL FIND ME! AND ANY ONE WHO KNOCKS ON MY DOOR? I WILL OPEN THE DOOR FOR THEM" !!!!!! ........ SO ALL ANY OF US NEED TO DO TO FIND THIS OUT? IS TO ASK, SEEK, AND KNOCK! GO TO JESUS AND DISCOVER AND EXPERIENCE "THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH!" ..............

    Im nothing. I come to Allah as nothing. Empty, so Allah can teach me. Im nobody but a slave and dependent on Allah. I make mistakes and i love alot. So i already know i don't trust my judgment. I go to Allah and my guardian Angels. Not me! Everyday is a new day new era new life never lived . So im just trying to learn. Im trying to recognize that im not the master, if i knew everything then I wouldn't go through these mistakes and sins and imperfections. So i can learn to accept and recognize myself. And to change that about my mistakes and imperfections and sins.
