I really love the slightly unhinged energy of you panic sewing and making all these pieces. I laughed out loud when you almost fell out of your chair lol! I think you did amazingly well within the time crunch and even outside of it, and these videos and the frequency of uploads is giving me a lot of joy. I know this must take a lot of effort along with a day job, and I want to say how much I appreciate it!
I love the full little series of all the pieces in your and your mother's dresses since alot of people gloss over the accessories. It's so exciting and inspiring so see all the little trinkets that turn a dress into an event in and of itself. And it's SOOO cool to see all the effort and different skills that go into each little piece so thank you

I'm really loving your sleep dep/time crunch chaos, reminds me of my engineering degree a few decades ago... trust me, I'm laughing in sympathy, not laughing at you. Glue gun, for the win! Glad you're showing all the accessories, I can sew the things (adequately, but I'm getting better, finally learned how to do a proper placket on the project I'm currently 12" of whip stitching and a handful of fasteners away from finishing), but I have no sense of accessorizing, so the more I watch others do it, the more I hope to learn through osmosis!! As an armoured fighter at medieval festivals I'm constantly looking for just the right period-adequate thing to shade my noggin from the sun when my helm is off doing meet and greet things, but I never see anything from an appropriate time period that catches my interest... my little straw hat may be somewhat period-appropriate but doesn't really go with purple 16 ga steel armour!! I'm tempted to turn it into a bonnet now, but I don't know that that'd look any better LOL.
Wonderful work. You are very skilled with the glue gun. As several people have already commented...hot glue can be a bugger to work with. You've got it down pat.
Goodness, it's hard to ge a historical costumer - tailor, dress maker, sewist, under pinnings maker, milliner, hair dresser, hand bag maker, crocheted, sock knitter, etc. So many skills that would have been done by specialists for each item for this level of sophistication. No wonder you got a bit tired!
I thought your headress looked fab. I also took inspiration from that ada lovelace portrait. Although I went the mantilla route as I knew I would only be doing a few dances.
I am so enjoying this series! I wish we could raise the bar with todays fashions. Certainly not going back to Victorian days but fashion a little prettier. But I am also in my 60s LOL. I am looking forward to the ball.
i've only realised now that i don't think i've seen people wearing both a bonnet and a cap at the same time in the early victorian era when it was the norm 50 years prior. I wonder when, how and why it changed
For the front curls bits on Ada, you might try small bun forms on the side, the sort that works with a ponytail and creates that perfect shape maybe? 13:34 I don’t know if you already did that but cest la vie
i was about to say it was iving ada lovelace but i figured it's on purpose, that updo is everything, i might want to reproduce her outfit at some point
I may be wrong or it may be a regional thing. I have been a costume maker for approx 35 years and have always known the tortoise shell comb as a Mantilla. No shade.
Yet again, you did an absolutely amazing job at pulling everything together. Bless you, but I just don't have much luck with skillfully applying hot glue, or having it hold with any longevity. Check out V. Birchwood if you get the chance. She's UK based, and has also made a video on bonnet construction. You and your mother look really terrific!
