    By the way...If you're in the UK, and you're thinking of buying a Sage machine (any Sage machine, not only their coffee machines), join my mailing list at coffeeblog.co.uk and then drop me an email to see if I have a current discount code to share. I don't currently get Breville discounts, sorry, but I do sometimes have Sage Appliances UK discount codes to share.

    Good video, thank you. I'm a recent owner of Gaggia Classic Pro, w/9 bar spring, also new to espresso. I have pretty much mastered pulling shots,but I have found I enjoy my americanos more than straight shots. I do 17gm to 38 espresso shots,four of those in a 16oz coffee cup, top off with hot water. Perfect for me,chocolaty, sweet,smokey rich flavor. I use Kicking Horse (Kickass)beans. Their other brands are good too. I have moka pots, stovetop percolators, Technivorm mokamaster, as long as the ratios are mastered, good coffee is enjoyable many ways. Good day,just my thoughts!

    Great to see you using the Sage Dual Boiler - I’m getting some fantastic results with this machine after a bit of practice. Will try a water first Americano ☕️🤙

    Absolutely love my BDB, and it's very smart in the black shade, a perfect match for my Niche. Cheers from across the pond!

    You’re right that people are confused about what an Americano is. I’ve met people who think it is just a filter coffee.

      Cheers Maurice, yeah I've actually heard from people who bought a filter machine because they wanted Americano.

    Hi Kev!!
    When can I get a t shirt to advertise my extreme love of coffee!?

      Haha, soon Dave, when I hit 10k subs maybe. Yours would have to say 'I'm a fellow coffee botherer' on the front, and 'even though I've never tried the stuff' on the back. 😆

    Why does almost very video I come across about coffee, seem to want to do demonstrations of espresso from either their coffee or there machines or grinders. Or just to advertise equipment.

    Thanks for the video Kev. You edited out a part that I was particularly interested to see, right before the tamping. I also use one of those collars for the portafilter. But then after applying WDT when I remove the collar there is this circle at the border of the basket that is practically empty! Does this happen to you? What I do is apply wdt again. But only superficially because otherwise I make a mess. How is it for you?

      Sorry Christian, no I don't think so. I'm filming today so I'll do a quick video of that part again with my phone and send it to you. Cheers

    Question, if an americano is basically espresso with hot water, isn't it possible to just let your espresso shot run for a full minute to get similar, all be it a bit stronger, results?

  • @InvisiblePinkSoylent
    @InvisiblePinkSoylent Před 2 lety +1

    I've found that in many places around the world americano equates to a weak , unjustifiably hot, drip filter coffee.

      That's what I call an Americ Ah No! The milky version is a Flat Shite, or Crappuccino.

    Hi. Why did you switch your Dual Boiler model from a silver one to the black one? I'm the DB review said you're going to test it long term. Was it just for esthetic reasons?

    Why not use steam wand for hot water?

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  Před 2 lety

      The dual boiler has a dedicated hot water tap, it doesn't dispense water via the steam wand. Cheers, Kev.
