The red sparks on tech, much like the killscreen, does not take DI/LSI into account. Smashing the wall allows you to LSI, therefore you can dip into the techable momentum by holding down while the animation for untechable plays in certain edge cases.
tbf the kill screen can appear when you're nowhere close to dying
5:47 Terry’s leg is invincible during the active frames (8 active frames) so yeah that makes sense that it would clank. It’s not okay but it makes sense.
The first clip: chrom’s up b has some weird effect where occasionally if you get hit by it, you’ll lost all particles, like tech stuff and the smoke. He got spiked down and bounced off the ground into the air

Looks like Terry threw out crack shoot in that last clip and sonic hit the leg hurt box so it snapped him out of animation
no I think it's literally just his double jump animation, he briefly raises his hands above his head

6:10 seems to be like when Falcons raptor BOOST does the hit animation without actually doing damage
0:19 if you're on the ground and you get hit by the initial spike hitbox of chrom up B, right after he does the spin, then you get popped up in the air like that. Idk why, but it happens pretty often when trying to edgeguard chrom. The electroshock super armor blocked the hitstun from the spinning up B hits, and the first hitbox after the armor ran out was the spike one.
I wholeheartedly welcome the React Randy arc of Marss. A react randy destined to beat Coney at his own game of content farming.
So the reason several of these splash screens look like they don't hit is that when you trade, your character's image is instantly replaced with a damaged pose. For example, that last clip, Terry used up-B causing his legs to be way up above him. Sonic hit with Bair, and Terry was put into the damaged pose, which DOESN'T have legs up in the air. So the result is, it looks like he got hit from a mile away.

The red spark tech at 6:55 does have an explanation! (nerd details in the reply)
First, keep in mind that you have a certain window before and after you hit a wall where you can tech.
There is a certain speed at which you can't tech anymore. When you hit a wall with past that speed, the game displays those red sparks.
HOWEVER, whenever you hit a wall your speed decreases slightly. There is a chance to hit the wall past max tech speed (thus displaying the red sparks), but it goes below that limit after bouncing, and you have a small window at which you can still tech, despite of the visuals.

6:56 I’ve seen something about this before. I believe this happens because the the untechable flash isn’t 100% accurate so there is a small window of knockback that can cause the red flash even though it’s still teachable

I think Locus up b'd frame perfect into that back air and because Terry rotates with his head staying in the same spot when he's in the Up B animation his feet are up but when he's in hit stun it resets back to Terry's original position leading to that funky kill screen. If Terry had a unique hitstun animation for getting hit out of Rising Tackle it'd make a lot more sense but because he Up B'd frame perfect his legs were high enough to get hit by Sonic's back air. The super impressive part of the clip is Lemmon turned a certain hard miss if Locus did literally any other option, even just not doing anything after his ledge jump into the funkiest hard up b read of his life.

I believe that last clip sonic got the back air because the get-up option terry chose was jump but his hurt box was shifted to where he jumps before Terry's model actually gets to that point

For the paluV.peach clip when you take vertical knockback you can tech at a later percent even if it shows its untechable.

By the way for anyone who didn’t know hot to tech that untechable back air, the knock back on kalos sometimes gets kinda screwed up at certain angles and allows you to tech because you interact very strangely with the walls
Maybe, but the untechable marker animation doesn’t actually line up with when the tech ceiling is, so it’s probably that
Chippy’s brain is unparalleled
I can only think of a few moves that would cause Terry to get hit by that bair, but only two of those I think would happen in that situation just because of frame data.
Either he did an up air or he did an up b, both of which were dumb (Unless he went for the true version of it, but we know he didn't because he got hit.) in that situation as he saw the sonic jump in a way where he could bair him.

In the final clip it looked like terry used up B which then leads to two weird things...
One, why up B?
Two, your legs are legit invincible during that up B, it beats final smashes at times (I don’t play casuals, but I do match into casual players)
Also I think when that Terry ftilted the Hero’s neutral B, the invincibility ate the first part of the fire ball, which caused the remaining hit boxes of the attack to be deactivated, so there was no explosion. Think Link’s up B, where if you shield the initial hit you can stand inside the attack even while he’s spinning because the hit boxes after the first one you shielded get deactivated.

My theory on Peach teching after red sparks appear: you can tech if your knockback is the exact amount to produce red sparks, but not any amount of knockback beyond that amount. It's a common coding error (AKA the off by one error).

Probably not that, but it might be just there's no hurtbox there and just a hitbox, and the hurtbox is more on the body

Its kinda crazy that people dont understand that when you attack you extend your hurtbox.... that's why the Terry got hit and pplant etc

Red tech sparks are sometimes techable. It's really weird and I don't think it's intentional so I guess it's a bug that can happen sometimes.

The Terry clip sums up all that is wrong with that character. I remember playing ftiendlies with bowser and a terry stopped my F-smash with just an F-Tilt, and to add insult to injury, when the two attacks collided it eas bowser who was hitstuned meanwhile terry was mashing instantly. Now look at how he stops one of the most powerful projectiles in the game with ab F-tilt.

If I recall correctly, that red untechable animation will very rarely be incorrect. As in, it was actually techable (hence the successful tech), but the wrong animation was applied. I think it’s like an extremely rare occurrence having to do with some very small range of values that can be calculated during that moment where the animation is decided. Think there’s a Reddit post about it

The dark pit situation was because side b sends dark pit up afterwards and the hitbox just sent it up that arc. Really weird interaction still.
