Setting up my flexispot standing desk today. Getting organized for 2022 and giving my home office a makeover. My office is in a corner of my bedroom and I wanted to simplify things down to the essentials. Minimalism for me is all about getting things down to the basic element as a way to simplify my life, my routines and also as a way to keep my space clean and organized. I have to create storage solutions and try to utilize my little bit of closet space vertically for just that. This standing desk has been incredible for my physical well being too. It forces me to stand up ever hour or so so that I am not sitting on my butt too long in the day. The flexispot standing desk is legit and I love the USB charging ports. Well done! I love how light and pretty your office corner is. I agree - it is sooo easy to fill the desk top and it eventually stresses me out. I recently did the same - just moving things out of sight and finding homes for all the little stuff was helpful. Very inspiring!
I like your new desk. That is very handy the way that it moves up and down and makes it so smooth going from sitting to standing. The one thing that I would like to share with you that you might get some value out of is something that I came to as a combination of traveling and decluttering is pens. You probably have a different relationship with pens than I do but I am a bit of a weirdo when it comes to pens.. first of all, I hate blue ink pens. So an easy decluttering decision for me. After checking each for whether it still writes or not, trash or donate for me. Next I love a pen that flows and writes smoothly, ( black ink )with a medium width line. And as a mature adult, life is too short to write with a pen that I don’t love. Traveling trained me to always put things back where they belong immediately so they are always where I know where they are, so I reach down into my purse, and grab the unmistakable shape that is my pen without even looking. I told you I am a freak ha ha! Extra bonus, for my little save the planet heart, my pen also has the ability to replace the ink cartridge when it runs out of ink. P.S. I also have a second pen which lives standing in a cup on my desk. That being said, I love your channel, admire you for helping others and putting your journey out there to share. ❤
Hey Carla - so happy to see your smiling face! I hope you’re healing well. ❤️ Your new desk looks like a beautiful nightstand/desk, especially with your lamp up in that corner next to your bed. Dual functions - yay! I know you’ve been thinking about getting a little lamp for that corner in your kitchen - maybe the salt lamp will work there until you find the one you’re looking for? Just a thought (for those of us who are moving towards using everything we have and getting rid of crap we don’t use)! 🌷

Worth thinking about setting up a good work station i.e. screen at eye level so you don't need to tilt head down, keyboard (separate, plugged into laptop) accessible with arms at 45 degree angle to body. This is best for your back and wrist joints if you are working for long hours at a screen.

I highly recommend getting a riser or something to lift your monitor up to be at or closer to eye level. Looking down all day at our computers, our phones, books etc. is awful for our spines. It's likely to cause low back pain, headaches, picture older people with hump backs. Improving posture can relieve and help us avoid a lot of pains and issues.
That is absolutely true about the flowers, something I would have never thought of.

I love how you started with your essentials.
I think mine would be:
- laptop + cable + keyboard + mouse
- notebook + pen
- daily priorities page (undated)
- visual timer
- window light + SAD lamp
- glasses
- glass of water
I will need a little filing system under my desk, I think, to take the papers off my workspace. It's a very small desk. I didn't even count the sit-stand adapter or the laptop stand! The setup is the same colours as yours, but not as beautiful. 😛
My electronics charging station is near my reading chair instead. :)

I hate overhead lighting, too! I've been rotating through my lamps to find the right one that provides enough light to see but not *too* bright. I use a lo-fi standing desk (hand crank), and it's nice to have the break from sitting. Consider a mat if you find yourself standing a lot, it helps with fatigue. New set up looks great!
yes i like this lamp cuz it is adjustable on a dimmer!! i feel you with the lighting standards lol
You can buy bulbs with a dimmer to adjust your existing lamps brightness and also warmth. I personally use the ones from ikea but there are others as well.

Don't know if you've already done this, but I highly recommend getting a bookshelf unit, with some drawers and cabinets, to fill the empty living room corner, so you can have all your books and office supplies (cricut, printer, journals, stickers...) in there.
oh yes to be done...I think I will do this with a console table that has sliding doors to house the tv atop :)

Your work space looks amazing. This was perfect timing for me as that was my first job before I start work, my office looks like a bomb has gone off in it. My desk has no drawers and Im looking at all the stuff Im keeping on it. Im going to go through and just have the essentials out. I really need to declutter this whole space. Thank you Carla.

Your desk setup is magazine worthy. It's beautiful and functional as is everything on it such as the lovely flowers.
One concern that I have is with your passport. I am a worrywart. I love the look of the passport on display, (as I know from your videos and comments that you are worldwide traveler and it's something that I aspire to), but I worry that it would be tempting for a burglar to steal if God forbid someone broke into your house. Just a thought. Please feel free to take with a grain of salt.

I just moved house, 3 bedrooms. I culled bags and bags of things to charity but I still have a lot.
Unpacking boxes and I copied your tactic of lay it ALL out. I culled more!
Simplifying my life is hard with toddler stuff but I'm getting there!

Your desk looks great, I’ve tried to organize mine so many times but I have to use it as a desk and a vanity, I’m never satisfied. I may invest in that same desk though if I ever get the chance to work from home, I love the option of being able to stand, I try to do it at work sometimes but it’s just me bending over breaking my back lol
oh desk and vanity is not an easy solution!!! i would let vanity take over my work every day lol
