I'm on day 15 rn but maybe the mobs wouldn't spawn bc natural spawn is off
So this movie is insanely massive, its an old recording so i was talking a lot more than usual. it became difficult to cut stuff out without it being weird in the final product, so we left a lot in. future videos wont be this long (i think) but i hope you can all enjoy this still!

The long videos are the best
so im thinking that the reason your mob farm wasnt working wasnt because of the big chunk with all the spawners at all my guess is it might be because of the middle chunk since when you run over it mobs would spawn but you might not be running far enough away for them to despawn (128 blocks away)
In fact I prefer longer videos, like Minecraft, playthroughs, and etc! So I'd like you to continue the longer ones to keep me occupied and on task! But of course it's your decision in the end! ❤️❤️❤️

Just so you know, bees are a renewable resource, if you grow a sapling next to a flower it has a random chance to spawn with a hive containing bees. As long as you have saplings and flowers you can make more bees.

Sky, you could've gotten yourself a Oak sapling if you bone meal the Flowering azelia. It works like a sapling too and will grow a azalea tree (like those you find naturally)

I don’t think mobs can spawn on slabs because they are not a whole block but I could be wrong.
What i love about this guy is the live commentary...other content creators tell a story and we don't get the feeling they had during the moment... Buh Skye's here just let us feel it all

I feel like for certain mod packs there should be a feature where trees have a chance of dropping golden apples and there's a chance to get golden carrots while farming and maybe some other small similar things. Would be pretty cool and it would give a lot more players the ability to cure villagers easier on certain worlds like one block or skyblock and just overall have a chance at a decent food source that's somewhat sustainable until you can progress further in the game

I have plans for making a version 2, but playable and bigger. Sorry about the crazy stupid stone area where I didn't realize wtf I was doing.
Use a better wood type. I forgot to include reeds somehow, the bee spawning issue needs addressed, and a few other things. Mainly, spreading everything out a little bit. More chunks. I need to add more traps like I used to. I enjoy hearing people get really excited over something trivial in other maps.
My maps are usually very... different. I am hooked on trickling tech levels using artificial walls, like separating out resources. I am sorry that the nether removed some of the content you had planned :( But I expect people to do anything they can to win, and the nether was a big milestone, hence goodies! :D
The reason your mob farms ain't working could be multiple reasons but I think these are the 2 main ones.
1: The mob cap is full cause of the chunk in the back
2: There is a bugg in minecraft in some versions mostly after 1.16+ or 1.18+ where they changed how slabs and light levels behave where top half slabs and bottom half slabs will let light through the top of the slab. This means any kind of light will go through and give light levels to the block directly under it. This includes Skylight.
Based upon what I have seen in the video so far (1:13:39 into the video) you only tested out your mobfarm during the day where there is 11+ light level of Skylight everywhere. Also you did point out earlier that mobs did spawn at the tree farm. Which again happened during the night time. So my biggest guess would be that this is a bugg related issue where your roof let skylight into the mobfarm, even though it seemed dark you should have checked with the debug menu (F3) to check if the actual light levels were at 0. If that is the case that the light level is actual 0, it might just be that the cap is full.
@@madelynne2939 That is why I wrote it as a "bugg" cause I have tested it myself and light levels defenitely go through slabs it shouldn't go through.

The issue with no food growing reminded me of one of my worlds especially the line "i forgot whats its like to be actually fed and alive"
My world ended up being a snow taiga surrounded by some ice spikes the issue is no matter how far i would travel it would still be snow.
Eventually i stopped finding pigs and cows, i had a small wheat farm at my house but it wasn't growing fast enough. I had a very close call with a baby zombie and was one 1 heart and 3 hunger left. Until finally i got enough to grow to have enough to eat to heal.
I about nearly broke into tears after being about 1 heart on a hardcore world for hours.
A 3 hour video i gotta gets my snacks now cuz i knoe it will be good

Another tip for the beehives/bee nest, I always put trapdoors around the campfires because the bees can still fly into the fire even though the campfires are hidden or just right underneath it.

I think mobs can only spawn naturally at 24 blocks away from player. so... I think that's the case why this farm is not working. 18 blocks height is not enough. (At least it works for me in 1.18.2, but the guide video that i saw was supposed to work on 1.19)

I was under the impression that mobs will only spawn on full blocks and not on slabs.. I noticed that both the mob farms you build were built with slabs... You need to build the next mob farm with full blocks and test if that works better for you.

2:15:39 Pro tip: rather than putting fence gates on an animal pen, put a carpet. A player can jump on a carpet on a fence but mobs can't.

I am only 45 minutes in, but I'm wondering if natural mob spawning was turned off-ie things can only spawn in from the monster cages/spawners. I would think that would affect phantoms as well, but perhaps not? I know they only spawn in if the player is above a certain Y level. What's probably more likely is the massive lag pillar was in the spawn chunks, and thus always loaded, despite render distance being turned down. Thus it got filled up with mobs almost immediately after Skyes went over, and took up the entire hostile mob cap. Perhaps we'll get an explanation later, but it seems like nobody else knows for sure either!
Edit: Well, it's not the former... might still be mob cap? The ceiling being made of slabs shouldn't effect it, I thought they patched out the light level glitch with slabs a while ago, but maybe it snuck its way back in somehow. It's almost certainly not the height... even though mob farms do work more efficiently the lower down they are, the spawning process will still get to the top chunks eventually, especially in skyblock.
Its most likely the fact that the roof is slabs... theres been a bug since the update with the lighting in 1.18 i think which makes the light level doesnt really change even if its dark in there
Big tip, I never see big CZcamsrs use this trick, but you can literally put two tools together in your inventory to make one tool have stronger durability. I haven’t played Minecraft in a couple months but last time I played you could still do this. Then you don’t have to waste xp in the anvil. Just be careful, if you put your enchanted one in your inventory with an un-enchanted one. It won’t be enchanted anymore(I don’t think) but this is good for starting out and getting bows that aren’t enchanted to add durability. 59:20

Bro... The mob trap is built 100% correctly, but in wrong place, mobs can't spawn in chunks which are void biome, it's like mushroom biome (yes, void biome is a actual biome but not in classic survival, only in maps like this

You can use regular slabs to cover water. They won't open, so it makes things easier if you have the mod to right-click crops to automatically pick/plant them.
