The little acting vignette at the beginning always has and probably always will crack me up. From the dramatic music to the tabloid headlines to Mick and Bette's performances...it's just pure gold.
Bette:”I sing it better than anybody.”
Mick: “Well, almost anybody.”
...I only remember the Video BECAUSE of the intro! ...Spring 1984... ".....Oh, WHAT'S a little publicity...--- " (0:33) ...ha-HAA!!
I love it when she says shoo shoo
Back then, I thought, "Man, Mick Jagger looks old!" but now I'm thinking: "Jesus - look how young Jagger looks!"
Exactly the same ...
It's crazy the Stones were already out for 20 years by then...
You are aware that this is The Divine Miss M, Bette Midler herself, performing a cover of The Rolling Stones hit Beast of Burden which appeared first on the Stones wildly underrated album, Some Girls, before popping up on Midler’s first studio album to drop in the 80s, No Frills….yes I’m quite certain you weren’t mistakenly under the impression that this was Lips Jagger and not Bathhouse Bette…. No one is THAT STONED……💋
😂😂me too
😂
This has to be my favorite Stones cover. I loved back in '84 and still love it today. I wish Bette had done more music like this.
Bette was right..she does sing it better than anyone :D
Well almost anybody
Not almost
She rocks when she wants to
I can barely stand to listen to the Stones' version since that happy day I saw Bette hammer down on this tune. Love ya, broad!
Her vocal range is impossible. Divine.
Jacklyn Jackson grilfriend jes Bret Michael is bette
🤣@@jacklynjackson4240
This is SO 80's, absolutely perfect
Bette Midler is truly one of the most power house female singers of all time. No auto tune want to be singers back then.
Yeah, I was definitely impressed by her vocals! I don’t really know her music and came here because I read that she covered this song and Jagger was in the video.
Just lip syncing
@@barrystewart5946 It's a video. Do you think any vid is live? It's a pure Bette Midler sound track.
Autotune was def part of her studio career. Its part of just about any artists studio performances, even if it isn't heavily used it definitely is used for pitch corrections and stuff regularly
Solid two lovely
Classic 80s MTV.
Hot hot hot both Bette and Mick, he is sooo cool and Bette is the best. Love this song. No one could do it better than these 2.
What an honor it is to have other artists cover your songs. Bette did a great job!
One of the BEST videos from the 80's. I always liked this one.
Its just impossible not to love this wonderful wonderful woman. What a voice.
OMG, I had totally forgotten about this!!! It's so campy, but I love it!!
And I love how Bette opens the song "NOW WRITE THIS DOWN!!
The verse she added to replace the dopey "pretty pretty pretty pretty girl" part in the original is jaw-dropping. Really impressed.
Mick is too adorable for words. And Bette is super cute also! This video just brings a big ol' smile to my face.
It does....!!!
Rachel S. Git it ya’ll!!
I love when they pair up singing legends. These 2 look like they're having so much fun & we are too.
I love everything about this. I find this song incredibly sexy and her rendition is fantastic. Plus, this video is hilarious. I love that Mick was in it and danced with her. His dancing always makes me swoon
We will never see something like this again! The chemistry - the talent - the energy - and a time when we looked forward to the next hot song with a very creative video attached to it!
Bette smashed it...👍👍👍👍
Anyone in 2024? Bette just killed this song
Bette forever, 1974, 1984…2024! The voice, the woman!
May 2024! 👍🏼💞
this was my first exposure to this song as a child - my favorite version! I was 7 when this came out.
Me. I was listening to The Rose and thought about this.
Yes me i love this song ❣️
Mic walking through the crowd doing his moves is just classic!
When Bette decides to rock she always kills it, this her best rock moment for me, a definitive version of a great Stones song.
Rock Stars got this sex appeal that is so unique to that generation. These days they show everything and sing about it bluntly as possible like "licking sweat off of someone's arse crack". Back then it was simple lyrics but poetic. The rock stars back then may have sold sex but it was classy; No arse cheeks hanging, no fake faces, just natural sex appeal and amazing talent.
Cherrykye Waters ever heard of Prince? He sure as hell had no problem wearing nothing but a thong on stage
She does sing it better than ANYONE. so fun
Nah.
I always thought Bette should of sung more rock she does it so well
Agree completely!
100%
100% facts.
Agree 101%
That’s where she started in the 60’s with her live stage shows. Listen to The Divine Miss M. She began in gay bath houses in NY with Barry Manilow on piano. She was pretty raunchy in her day. We love her long time.
One of my favorite covers OF ALL TIME.
They worked so well in this. Almost makes me wish they could've made a movie together.
she's a great force not to be reckoned with.too powerful a voice. She did it her way the only way to be.i only can sing a bit like her.anyone else? loved her since day one.this song and many of her other songs are fantastic! Thanks ooo ooo ooo
This is absolutely brilliant.. I absolutely love this one and the entire experience is pure genius
She sings this better than Mick and that comes from a person who has been a Stones fan since 1963.
She's just... Great!
Love this! there both in their prime hear! what a voice Beth always had..
Bette is so zany & crazy!! I absolutely adore her!! 💘🎸 💘 🎸 💘 🎸 💘 🎸
Beautiful song. Bette Midler's Voice is Pure and Beautiful, No one else compares to the sounds of Bette Midler's Voice. Perfection and Flawless. Just Beautiful.
I love Bette Midler she is a awesome actress and a good singer
God, this is so great!!! Her version is far superior to that of the Rolling Stones- and I like the Stones a lot!
she does sing it better than anybody...
Well... almost anybody
lol
Yes yes, nice raspy voice
well, almost...
Bette's smokin' hot version of this song is amazing. And Mick's (quite good) imitation of one of Michael Jackson's signature moves at 4:17 is hilarious!
True Story: Tonight my Dad was singing this song. I said "I remember that Bette Midler song and the video from when I was a kid!" He laughed at me and said "Bette Midler? Ya, ok.... She does not sing that song!" I told him "Yes, she does. Maybe not the version you're familiar with Dad, but it's the only version I've ever heard." Then he kept laughing. So I emailed him this video. He replied "That's the best version of that song I've ever heard!"
So, I guess I got the last laugh.
Excellent!
I had the same conversation with my partner He had only ever heard Mick Jaggers version He has just watched this and loves it
It is. Man, she kills it!
How have I not seen her perform this song before?? Fabulous performance!!
@@patallen4857 Rolling Stones original !
Always on MTV Europe - it's a orgy, timeless masterpiece and Bette - that Angel! Oh... and some immortal Mick...
I Looooooooooooooove Bette!! Her and Mick are AwesomeSauce in this Video!!! Still in love with this in 2019 and forever!!
I came specifically looking for this video. Such a classic.
I love this song, but this is the first time I’ve seen this video, it’s awesome! I love Bette! And Mick!
Loved this video! I’m near 50 now and remember this at 12 years old!
Usually, the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" should apply to fabulous, original songs. This is one of the few exceptions - Bette outshines Mick's version.
You gotta be kidding midlers version sucks
@@user-yn7vc4rz7t Each of us is entitled to our own tastes. Mick Jagger obviously loves Bette's version or he wouldn't have appeared in her video.
She was so versatile
What a treat!
I love how this version is more about attitude whereas the Stones version sounds more tormented.
Don't forget the band ! Who played on this recording ? They did a real corker of a job. Bloody well marvellous.
Yes, yes!
I agree. They were solid.
Danny Kortchmar - guitar (most known for working with Don Henley around this time)
Tim Drummond - bass (well-known session musician)
Jim Keltner - drums (another session guy)
@@Kylora2112 Jim Keltner is on everything. And always making it work.
Bette Midler was an absolute boss.
Bette OWNS this song.
She's just so good isn't she? There's no one else like her.
how can you not love the DIVINE MISS M??????
Comme c'est bon ça !! Ça fait un bien fou...Bette est divine,Mick jagger fait du pur Mick jagger,j'adorre
Oh, for the days of "Friday Night Videos," when this was new...
Dam I love that song Awesome tune.🔥💥
I love this version, it keeps the mid tempo of thev original studio version, which the stones don't normally do, the live versions are always a bit sped up
The golden age of MTV!
Bette Midler is pure dynamite! 🧨🔥👱♀️🎤👱♀️
If you’ve never seen her Concert Film Divine Madness….do yourself a favour! Go watch it!
Haven't seen this one in years, still love it !!!
Thanks a million!
Just love it!
love them
SHE ROCKS IT!!!!!!
2023 kicking it to this song
I think I'm obsessed with this version and video :))
I adore this video!!!💘 🎸 💘 🎷 💘
Always loved this video , go Bette! 👌🏼👏🏻
Always loved this film and was sorry that Bette never really made a straight out Rock album as, I suspect, she really wanted to. A great band as well! Drums: Jim Keltner, Bass: Tim Drummond, Guitars: Mark Goldenberg and Danny Kortchmar.
Great !!! Love Bette Middler. She is very funny. Love the movie 1st wives Club also. Mick Jagger mmm could become a fan
Wow, Bette, you're my hero.
❤A fearless performer. I love you Bette!❤
Love me some Bette. Her and Mick did good with this number.
Heard this first on the radio when I was 10, loved it. I’m 69 now. Then the other night found this. Best version, love Mick and love Bette.
Immer noch mein Lieblingsvideo .
I love this version! Stones may have originated it, But Bette's voice owned this song!
Love both Versions. Bette & The Stones
Love it when she says now write this down
My teens are calling me back ! Love Bette !
Looks like so much fun!!!!!!
I love Bette’s version.
Yes!!
Now that’s how you move like Jagger!
Mick at his dapper best and Bette so campy!❤
Absolutely adored this song when it was released in 1983 - my bestie and I used to sing it at the top of our lungs when we were driving - I was 17 and life was a lot of fun.
Her eys are beatiful!!

As they say, SHE could sing the phone book to rave reviews!
Love this version!!
"Just hear me sing your song , I sing it better than anybody." "well, almost anybody'
Never knew about this one. That was cool. Love seeing unlikely artists coming together like this
