(The most common rout to teaching social studies at the secondary level).

my English teacher was a guy last year, so was my math and social studies, reading and half my electives. I now have my science and social studies teachers who are male lol
I was actually one of the very few males that was in the Early Childhood Education program at the technical school that I attended. It was a program that consisted mostly of females, but I had a genuine interest in it, which is why I decided to join, out of the other options that I had. Teaching those kids will forever stay in my memory. The following year, Covid hit. I got the opportunity to participate in a field experience, where I observed high school-level English classes. I got to teach them a couple times, as well. From the experience that I gained, I don't think there's anything wrong with male teachers. I had plenty of them. They can be some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. :)
There’s nothing inherently “wrong” with them, but there is a bias toward them. My sister-in-law is the president of the largest teacher’s union in America and refuses to speak on this unfair, inequitable bias. It’s #problematic.
correction we need more good male teachers like him because every male teacher I had builds grudges against students, is lazy, and NEVER knows how to teach so when the test comes, everyone fails and they don't give curves often
I wish there were more male teachers, a lot of the best teacher's I've had were male teachers (7th grade history, 7th grade science, and 9th grade German to name a few) and there is just a chill-ness that a lot of guy teachers have than most women teachers don't. My favorite male (HS) teacher taught psychology. He was relatively young, married, and had a 2 yr old, so it was like having the cool dad teaching the class. Once every week or two, he’d let us just chill, so my friends and I used to play Rummy 500. Best class ever! 😁
I had a good range of male teachers. My freshman year of high school, my Algebra 101 class was taught by the male football coach. He was one of the old-school "here's six ways to do it, I don't care which one you use as long as it makes sense and you can repeat the result." He had to drop the class halfway through the first semester, and we got passed over to a female teacher who'd been teaching only calculus for the previous 12 years. She wasn't used to having to explain basic Algebra, and would approach the lessons like they were refreshers for her calculus students. I wound up so stressed out that I flubked everything but PE that semester and got put in an independent study program instead so I could work at my own pace. Wound up going to summer school in order to scrape a C- in Algebra, and did all my remaining math credits as electives like bookkeeping and recordkeeping. Found out years later that half my problem was undiagnosed dyscalculia, and if I'd had better support I might not have had half the problems.
I feel for the female Calculus teacher. As a male high school teacher who is currently teaching three sections of AP Calculus, I get nervous about trying to teach when asked to cover for A1 for this exact reason. It is hard to confidently help students when you do all the Algebra by hand but they need to know the "do it in the non-AP-approved calculator" tricks.

My economics teacher had the weirdest collection of dress shoes. They would look like normal men's shoes except they'd be funny colors, usually purple. He also let us order out food and stay in the classroom for lunch strategy sessions as part of teaching us economics. We loved him.
When I started student teaching, I immediately went from dress shoes to regular shoes because it was more comfortable for my feet and felt like I could build rapport better with the students (without having to dress similarly to them)
