I like to give these videos a feel like that of your friend just wanting to sit down and show you a film from his giant stack of movies, and then talking about it. We also will start doing movies from subscriber polls as well, to give you all more of an option on what you want to see us do next. We also probably will branch out to do more sci-fi, fantasy, and thriller type films after we've hit pretty much all the major horror franchises.
I was 10 years old when this movie came out. My mom took me to see it & it scared the hell outta me! The protagonist (mike) was the perfect hero for us generationX kids- drove & repaired a hemi, investigated a mausoleum in the middle of the night armed with a knife & all with no parental supervision!
Phantasm is a fever dream... you never know what to expect, and the music just amps up the tension. Great reaction! Love to see obscure flicks like this get some love.
Some movies try to go for a dreamlike feel and imagery and fail at it, but this is one movie that nails it. This movie feels like one of my nightmares.
This movie is a classic, the blending of non-linier 60's style art-house with 70's grind-house indie style makes for a wild ride. It also has my favourite muscle car of all time the 1971 Plymouth Hemi-cuda love that car..
One of my top horror films! Love the Tall Man. Booooooooyyy!! Takes place during the best year of all time. That year Halloween came out, I was born, you know, all the best things! It's a funny thing, if you find a streamer that has Phantasm movies, often they will have all of them at the same time, except part 2. 2 will show up sometimes with them, but usually 2 is on another service or not available at all. I think part 3 is maybe my favorite of the series. But I have a hard time picking favorites really in most series.
Also have the same 5 movie collection but unfortunately just on dvd, wish I coulda found it on bluray. Just one of those times when the thing you want disappears off the face of the planet, so you settle.
Not to mention the were doing THAT same thing ("exploring the boundaries") with SEX as well during the 70s, with flicks like Deep Throat, Last Tango in Paris, Fritz the Cat and the sort.
I could be wrong but I believe what you watched had added scenes that weren't originally in there. I feel like I've seen either bts or articles about the trapping tall man in the mine, and tall man affected by cold, and the front porch guitar session, and the Lady in Lavender I don't think was in the movie as much originally. Think there was a remaster in the 90s or aughts that added things. And that's the version you prolly find on any streamer service. I know some future sequels used unused footage from this in them in places. Im sure someone can help me with it I'm right or not.
The Director tells the story of how he was filming. Someone in production called him and mentioned the Star Wars trailer. He had no idea about the Jawas till then. Years later the Star Wars Force Awakens character "Phasma" was created as an homepage to this movie.
9:11 Sorry for a spoiler here but in the deleted scenes it shows the Tall Man is weak to the cold so the cold is the only thing that can hurt him. In the sequels it explains what happened over time
Nah, you live by investigating with a Colt Mark IV 70 Series 1911 .45 ACP Pistol & a Remington 870 12 gauge Shotgun. Without those, yeah don't investigate.
I think it would be better if you guys don't talk about the power rangers for now after Jason David Frank has passed away. I'm kinda broken hearted right now.

I was 11 or 12 when I saw this for the first time and it scarred this 68 vintage Xer in a good way.
The part with the hammer and the shotgun shell my mom immediately looked over at me and said don't get any ideas
I saw this in the theater with a date way way back. He was all over his seat!! LOL

This is a 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda 440-6 Pack 4-Speed, just as mean as the 426 Hemi 'Cuda

Mike is 13 in this movie, though the actor was 14-16 through make it.
