- This video filmed inside the Hood Canal Bridge control tower shows the violent shaking that occurs during this powerful windstorm. Notice how the shaking stops once the drawspan is open, relieving the pressure off the bridge.

Thank you for not ruining this amazing video with ridiculous music...Mother Nature sounds FAR better than anything man-made!

Listening to all of that stuff rattling it sounds like you’re on a train, bus or airplane with quite a bit of turbulence.
Hood Canal weather has destroyed the two previous bridges. Some day this will be the third.
On February 13, 1979, the original Hood Canal Bridge was partially sunk in a fierce windstorm.
During the night, the bridge had withstood sustained winds of up to 85 mph (137 km/h) and gusts estimated at 120 mph (190 km/h), and finally succumbed at about 7:30 a.m. The western drawspan and the pontoons of the western half had broken loose and sunk, despite the drawspan being opened to relieve lateral pressure.
The bridge was closed to traffic and bridge staff had been evacuated so fortunately no one was harmed.

what is the background sounds? metal stretching, window noise
Ariel It says in video description. it's the wind vibrating the bridge, the noise lessens once the bridge opens.
