- SANTA CLARITA (CNS) - County firefighters battled a fast-moving, three- alarm brush fire today that has scorched at least 800 acres in Santa Clarita at the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway. The fire, which was believed to have started from a traffic collision on the southbound 14 Freeway, near the Sierra Highway off-ramp just north of Placerita Canyon Road, was reported at 12:47 p.m., according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher. The flames “jumped the freeway,” the dispatcher said. A SigAlert was declared by the California Highway Patrol just after 2 p.m. and authorities shut down the 14 Freeway southbound at Sand Canyon Road and northward at Newhall Avenue. At least 200 county firefighters have been dispatched to fight the fire and there was zero containment as of this afternoon, according to the county fire department. A water-dropping helicopter was dispatched to the scene just before 1 p.m., according to Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey, who added that no LAFD ground crews have been dispatched so far. Cal Fire is also assisting in the battle to extinguish the flames, a spokesman said. No injuries have been reported, but the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has ordered mandatory evacuations for Disney Ranch, Tenderfoot Trail Road, Running Horse Road and Placerita Canyon. An emergency evacuation center has opened at Golden Valley High School at 27051 Robert C. Lee Parkway, according to the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station. The temperature in Santa Clarita was 107 degrees as of 4 p.m.

As soon as you think the video is almost over... "HOLY F*CK!"
Sad to see the old homestead burning. Again. I learned to drive on those roads. Graduated from Canyon High eons ago.
Firemen & women not only fight fires... Two suspected arsonists caught - one in Chula Vista; another in Ventura, caught on camera, then apprehended. Fire started immediately contained! Amazing work by firemen-police!

Why this fire? I don’t understand 😱 😢
Omg that poor little deer! I hope it doesn’t jump back over towards the fire. Poor thing doesn’t know where to go. Praying for all the firefighters and animals and hope no structures are involved.
I felt really bad for the poor rabbits and deer. I sure hope they were ok.....a huge shoutout to all of the firefighters and personel who fought this fire and others. Side note: if you are the type to set these fires on purpose, you better hope I dont see you doing it....
