    Black Panther, Spider-Man, Black Widow, and Captain Marvel get a lot of play with the family, game groups.
    Looking forward to getting more familiar with the other Heroes.
    I laughed when you put the tokens to the side: I’ve had to move them and flip that card so many times! 😆

    Good job with your tutorial but FYI first player only skips INCOME PHASE. They don’t skip the Upkeep phase.

    Great tutorial, Tim! I would make one possibly nitpicky distinction, though- the Ultimates ARE undefendable, and you cannot reduce or prevent any damage once they're activated, but they're not entirely unavoidable. If your opponent ends their roll phase with all sixes, you can use those dice manipulation cards, if you have them, to alter one or more of the sixes. My son ALWAYS saves those cards to mess with my dice, so it's very difficult to get an ultimate off against him. 😅

    Thanks for this great video! Is there a difference in gameplay with the original version? (apart from the characters choice)

    Just curious why you have sleeves on the illusion cards? The Kickstarter version of the game those cards are synth, so they are basically indestructible, except by fire. They are made of plastic, basically, just like the cards in Radlands.

    Nice explanation. But the Video skills and editing have room for improvement. If you don’t get focus, just cut it out and would be nice to show the card longer after. 80% of the time was unclear image.
    Can you sell cards and use Those CP right after for playing other cards ?

    • @yuriq9182
      @yuriq9182 Před 2 lety

      When you sell cards during your main phase, that cp gets added to your pool and can use it immediately

    One thing I found confusing here is the defending. So, in your example, Black Panther is not actually defending against incoming damage, but dealing damage to the attacking player on a successful dice role? Did I understand that correctly? if so, is that the case for every character that defends, or do some have the ability to just block incoming damage?

    • @dr.bherrin
      @dr.bherrin Před 2 lety +2

      Some characters do get a chance to mitigate damage. Some get to do both, counter attack and mitigate. Some characters have other means, such as healing lost damage or like in Loki's case, they can use a token to completely ignore incoming damage...hopefully.
      The game isn't meant to take a long time to play, so most mitigation won't be significant during play. As an example, Black Widow can avoid one point of damage for every 1 or 2 she rolls during her defense roll, but at 3 dice, 4 when upgraded, even if she gets a perfect roll she will likely still take a hit.
      Most characters defense rolls give them ability tokens, in some cases it's the only way to get those tokens. It's sort of a, okay you hit me, now here's what I can do in return.
      You really aren't going to be relying on your defense roll for survival in most cases, but sometimes that 1 or 2 points of mitigation can give you a slight edge. It's usually the token rewards from defense rolls that are the big bonus.
      Someone like Widow who can place her time bombs on you from rolling the defensive roll can be a game changer. If you get a couple of those, it's 4 damage each if you can't get rid of them in time. And all you did was attack her.

    Shouldn't the first player only skips the income phase? The first player should still be able to do his upkeep phase.

  • @dr.bherrin
    @dr.bherrin Před 2 lety +1

    The tutorial is okay. You should make it cleat that Combat Points are used to pay for all cards, not just ability upgrades.
    As you went through the gameplay you used cards you couldn't pay for....may confuse some players thinking they don't have to pay for those, it did my friend.
    Also, you didn't mention that when upgrading abilities, you don't have to pay the full cost for third tier upgrade if you already payed the tier 2, just subtract the cost of the 2 from the 3 and pay the difference. Also important to note.
    I appreciate you trying to teach this game in 8 minutes, but honestly, you can't do it in that time and get all the important info in. Some games just have a lot of nuance that needs explaining. While I am a vet at the game, I did have a friend watch it who just started playing with this set and a couple of the issues he had I mentioned here. There is more, like he didn't clearly understand certain cards had a phase they could be played in, but hopefully you understand the importance of getting all the rules out there in a "tutorial".
    Cheers.

      There are different levels of tutorials. This one is good enough to start the game. I was not confused when he "paid" to change the dice since I assumed he was only making an example. As is done with many tutorials. On top of things, he also did not mention that there is an order of things during combat. They don't matter for casual play but for those die hard competitive players it does get extremely specific. Which he did not go through (because this is to teach basics) or that even though an attack is red/undefendable players can use cards to negate the damage in some way. (reduce by 6 or whatnot)
      EXCEPT ULTIMATES. Once the roll is allowed to activate. NOTHING STOPS OR CHANGES WHAT AN ULTIMATE DOES. (this is for those people that read the description but still go "but what about..." lol
      Anyways, great video Tim!

      @@Sgrand80 I assume you already knew how to play.
      Like I said, my friend had never seen or played the game before, and he watched the video. When we played he didn’t know enough to play the game.
      So no, it doesn’t teach enough to start the game. I didn’t just come here to bash someone.
      I found another “how to play” video and he watched that one, and was good to go. Only very specific things between characters ever came into question.
      That’s why I said, 8 minutes isn’t long enough. Things aren’t explained very well.
      The other video, 17 minutes long, he was able to watch it and play.
      Yea, there are different kinds of tutorials, but to name your video “how to play”, shouldn’t he walk away with the knowledge of how to play?
      Some people just aren’t good teachers. Or they don’t put themselves in the mind of a new player who doesn’t know already. And the only way the videos get better is feedback, no?

    6:02 does that mean he’s attacking the attacker? Did he block the incoming damage? Very confusing.

    • @TimChuon
      @TimChuon  Před rokem +1

      Every hero does something unique so it does get confusing! Black panther would be retaliating/attacking the attacker. He does not block the damage with Bashenga’s honor, but he will receive kinetic energy in exchange!
