I watched the inauguration the governor and Aruna. I had tears in my eyes knowing and hearing about her ethnicity, coming from India and marrying her husband who is a very kind and loving man. This story has a great meaning for the immigrants. I wish Wes and Aruna a great success beyond measure. May Maryland citizens be blessed always. Blessings.

Some of us stop looking for work after we find a job. Mr. Wes Moore is certainly not one of those people. To me Sir, you are Presidential material.

People are multi-consious. We see ourselves as individuals, but also members of the various group associations, we are a part of, the first of which, is as a member of a family. The concept of the common good, is embodied in the family institution. All social groups follow this instinctive model. Democratic (not capitalist) government reflects this model. Pariotism and socialism are consistent with each other, as both ask that the individual put the good of all, before individual interest, when necessary. That is why we have aspects of socialism already without our governmental structure. When it comes to economics, it is a question of whether the economic systems is consistent, with this basic human value. It is not an arguement of capitalism vs socialism. It is a simple questions of what is a fair amount of compensation for a person's labor or contribution to a service or finished product. It is also a question of how much wealth one person should be allowed to amass, in a world of limited resources. Society and individuals must ask - in a competitive situation, there will obviously be those who win and those who don't win - how then should society view those who don't win, and how should those who don't win, view themselves? It speaks to what relationhip we have with one another. Primitive cultures had this basic value. The 'BigMan' amassed the majority of the wealth, to then redistribute it fairly to the members of the clan/tribe/village. Of course the devil in the details, is that we all don't or can't agree on what is fair. That is where our claim to be the highest life form and to be spiritual beings, evolved and or the product of a beneficent and merciful Supreme Being, comes in. This moral compass doesn't have to be specific to any particular belief. It should not be difficult to reach an agreeable concept of fairness, based on all these moral beliefs. Maybe to do that takes a different kind of bravery. When I think about the war or wars on poverty, I can't help but think, that the government never asked the individuals, who this war was to save, to be actively involved in it. I wonder if they, made them understand the importance of the success of this effort, for society, and what the consequences of its failure would be. Many question whether there was even a sincere effort from the government - whether they were really trying to eliminate poverty. Many would argue that the social economic order/structure insures that a set percentage of the population, has and will always be, near what it has always been. If any of this is true, are we to accept that that is the way it will or must always be, that it is as good as it gets? What about the exceptionalism that we are said to exemplify? Why are we selective in our application of this spirit? If the government is not going to be the adult in the room, why not the people step up and be the adults. Who is asking the question, of what is still the level of waste and fraud, in government and other white collar work environments? How much revenue is lost to that, that could be invested directly in the people? Its people are the most valuable natural resource any nation has. In the mist of the cost to life and property, that the impact of global warming, and pandemics, have been, (not to mention the cost of rebuilding the nation's infrastructure), why has the concept of a 'domestic peace dividend' not been proposed to the people? How much funding is squaddered on healthcare and health insurance cost, to address the high rate of violence and crime in general, in the country? Crimes of all kinds make insurance of all kinds costly. This is spending valuable and limited funding, on things that are not directly life affirming. Policing and prisons are other examples of spending on things counter-productive to living. These are not direct investmens in people. The natural environment makes life costly, difficult, and dangerous enough for us. Why do we have to unnecessarily add to that? If we are to celebrate a first, if it is not setting a precedence like this, what is there to celebrate? I hope our new Governor and all of us, will acknowledge the reality of the world today and have the vision and courage to begin to do what common sense should tell us is necessary, if we can't simply see, that if is the right thing to do.

Please stop with the first xyz! Gov Moore is now representing Maryland with his core values, vision and can do attitude to serve with honesty, respect and integrity without being influenced by race, religion, corruption, blackmail and being coerced by the party he represents. The Gov needs to do what's right for us all...especially as a fellow veteran who served with honor, respect and devotion to duty. "Do great things Man". Remember when you were with us at DHS and Gov Ridge as your mentor...God speed Gov!

"People want a change." You mean they want to go back to higher taxes? WHO is going to be paying for the preschool for all? Government funding = TAXPAYER funding. "It's not just about change, it's about hope." This is beginning to sound more and more like Obama, who also ran on a "hope and change" and "leave no one behind" platform. "This is about work, wages and wealth." Everyone should pay for ALL of their needs with their OWN money.

Do you know that 80% of the wealth in USA is owned by 2% of the population. USA is practicing legalized and high tech slavery, in which the 2% of USA population are working people for a very, very low wages. The middle class citizens in this country are not smart because they work against their self interest.
