French like to tell other countries their moral obligations but refuse to obey at their peril. Pure double standards.

This old colonist doesn't get it. They can do more than mining if France would have invested in the people and the country

The moral sense of European colonial power did not improve much 😂. It is just globalization that had ended colonial era.

Why do they have to hang onto such a small territory so far away? The island belongs to the native population anyway.

The research fellow said that Macron is likely to get a warm welcome. How can that be when there has been a riot. France would be better off if it stops acting as if it is still a colonial power and focus on solving its problems at home.

France didn’t listen to the locals when New Caledonia had their 3rd referendum during Covid and just expects everyone to agree with that. The only way for this issue to end is to have a 4th and proper referendum. So the locals can truly decide to stick with France or ditch them.

France is making the same mistake it made in Algeria, in the Sahel etc to keep the autochtones poor and marginalized, with the feeling of to be occupied by foreigners. With all the benefit "The Caillou" brought to France wealth and prestige putting the indigenous people over there integrated and in better condition in return is the minimum to garant a long future in common peace coexistence.

So.... is it ok mantaining colonialism now? Maybe you can try to divide New Caledonia between the two.

France must allow these people to exercise freedom. It should be done peacefully not by force.

INDEPENCE a big word reserverd to those with the experience. Who is fit to govern if not France? The rebels or maybe putin will pop up to play savior? NC IS PART OF French heritage from history. Not Last year. Discussions should be made possible ? This chaos is planned . France should not back down !.
