I was looking through Panthers and figured it was time to feature one in another video. It dawned on me that it has been a while since we have featured the infamous Ersatz M10. I don't know what was in the water today but I hope you enjoy this slightly strange video.

Just for clarification, 'Ersatz' does NOT mean fake. It mean 'Replacement'. So it's replacement coffee and a replacement M10, as they didn't have enough real ones to use.
Or the BC class “Ersatz Yorck class” of 1916, comprising of SMS Ersatz Yorck, SMS Ersatz Gneisenau and SMS Ersatz Scharnhorst.
The first one was to replace the CA Yorck (lost to mines in 1914, building began but never was finished) the latter two as replacements for the CAs of their names lost in the Battle of the Falkland Islands, again in 1914. (They were ordered but construction never started, at that point in the war submarines were more important.) Here it means a straight replacement, better and stronger …
With ersatz goods the implication s a lesser quality, usually because you have to make do somehow under extenuating circumstances, and it is still better than nothing. Also see the “coffee” served in the age of sail in British warships.
@@advorak8529 It wasn't just the Ersatz Yorcks - the Imperial German Navy made a habit of NOT naming capital ships (publicly, at least) until their launching. So ships under construction would frequently go by a "Ersatz [other ship]" moniker. The Austo-Hungarian navy had several "Ersatzes" as well.
And replacement for Kaffee with the pinecones :"D
Then you also have during World War One ersatz bread , with sawdust ,and other ingredients into it
There's Ersatzkaffee in Switzerland to this day. It tastes almost the same as coffee but has no caffeine in it. It's made from chicory.
My parents called it coffee for kids.
Can't believe this "BoTimeGaming" guy wants to implement waterboarding 101 into the Boy Scout activity curriculum.
Do it for the scout masters and the people who made the recent decisions for the boy scouts, and I'll approve.
it's a valuable skill
04:45 Jim makes a great ersatz baseball announcer! :D
German language lesson: "ersatz" means "substitute", "replacement", "imitation", usually of an inferior quality compared to the original.
No, Ersatz must not be inferior. Ein Ersatz eines bestehenden Artikels ist in den meisten Fällen eine Verbesserung... or in english: the replacement of an existing article is mostly an improvement.
@@bernhardwidmer886 That is why I said "usually", not "always"
But Bo, that’s not a Panther, it’s an M10 of course!
Acorns are the seeds of an oak...
For that entire segment I was saying to myself "my guys, there is literally only 1 type of tree that produces acorns!"
Acorns come from oak trees.
I guess I am too late.
Jim and Stick (the combo name being "Slimjim" are very entertaining level of chaos
Today on BTG: Bo redevelops an activity centre for the local children, Jim establishes a new presence in the BTG sports franchise and Stickboy treats the crew to some surprising facts about his family tree.
In this video; Bo attempts to make warthunder content while stick and Jim follow their silly conversation side quests 😂
This was a hilarious one. Almost forgot that you were playing warthunder for a second 😂
As a Boy Scout meself, congrats Stick for doing the program. As for knots, not everyone was good at them. The favorite saying of one of my assistant scoutmaster's was "if you can't tie knots tie lots of knots". My personal favorite knots were sheepshank, bowline, and alpine butterfly.
As a Eagle Scout myself I was not good at knots I was proficient enough to be able to pass the board of review. But whenever Id go to camp there was always someone that was better at knots then I was lol.
@@ToxicMinecraftV2 I wasn’t that best at knots in my troop, one or two ended up teaching pioneering, but so was pretty solid overall and it was fun when we had knot relays as I was seen as the old fart since there was a weird two or three year age gap between me and the next oldest
i never realized that they updated the M10's turret traverse.. thats cool
Interesting that the Germans are the ones to have it though 🤔
Nitpick: Direct translation of "Ersatz" would be "replacement".
For those don’t know… the belt having badges is actually Cub scouts not Boy Scouts.
So Stickboy’s belt is worthless.
THAT'S WHERE THE "YIPPEE" COMES FROM?!
2:28 Jim got a free, instantaneous water heater installation.
I am sorry but when Bo said "I think the boy scouts should teach enhanced interrogation", I was with jim on that one and was thinking of this scenario that stickboy would have done if it was taught. "Ok sticky boy, scout master travis over there has been talking to some people and we need to find out who he has been talking to. So go grab the rag and bucket of water to get this badge :D!". I don't know why that's all I could think of when bo said that xD. I think bo said it at 15:10 .
California has 3 hockey teams: San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, L.A. Kings.
I've heard coffee be refered to as a few things but never before "portable dark liquid"
Fair, but it probably was potable on the page.
Makes sense because it dosen't contain caffine, so it would just be a drak liquid
The ice in Texas is not only in the arenas. It is also in your pipes during winter.
Best video in a while. I LOVE the ranting about everything but the battle :)
Man, a minute since posting. That makes me happy! Your content is so fun Bo.
Fun fact; here in Denmark there's one brand of "Ersatz coffee" (in danish "kaffe-erstatning" ) that's still being sold: It's mostly something of a novelty item, you can buy at a handful of museums. (The brand is called "Rich's" in case anyone is wondering: it's made from rye, chicory and sugar beets that's been roasted. According to wikipedia, other stuff was used on occasion, in other brands, including dandelion and corn).
I have no idea how it tastes ("not very well" is my best guess..)
Great vid like always!
Glad you enjoyed!
I was in The Australian Air League. I received qualifications in aircraft construction, theory of flight, group dynamics, theory of command, aeroengines, meteorology and aerial navigation.
The funny thing is, I have often called upon these skills in various circumstances and have benefited from this education more than school. I actually taught myself to read at the age of three using maths as a link to words.
I think maybe I could have foregone school and been no worse off. There is no doubt about it, youth groups (at least in those days) were a sensational education.
There must be caffeine in pinecones, I mean squirrels eat them after all.
7:58 Acorns come from oak trees. The pinecones thing is Jim getting his wires crossed - you can use pine NEEDLES to brew an ersatz tea.
11:32 There are 3 teams in California. The San Jose Sharks, LA Kings, and Anaheim Ducks
I come for the entertainment, stay for the sometimes very random history discussions. :D
Keep up the good work, Bo & Co!
Great video Bo!
This is definitely the best version of the M10 in the game lol
Another great video!!
💜
I understand that ersatz coffee or Kaffee as it was also known during the worst parts of the war (for Germany) was actually the roasted roots of dandelions. There were many different things roasted and used for this purpose. None of them had caffeine.
Dandelions are an excellent plant for food purposes. Everything is edible.
Pine nuts (extracted from certain pine cones) are a delicacy and used in many different cuisines.
No, Pine Cone Coffee is a brand of real coffee. Maybe Jim got it mixed up with acorn coffee, which is ersatz?
Never heard of Ersatzkaffee made from pinecones, but considering people were basically roasting every other damn thing over here to make replacement beverages for coffee I'd not doubt that they were used at some point.
Funny thing is, one of the few ersatz "coffees" out there that actually delivers a decent shot of caffeine is a beverage made from a holly (yaupon), cassina or "black drink". Despite the scientific name, it does NOT cause people to throw up, and can be found drank to this day in parts of the Southern US.
oh he was in cub-scouts i recently got my eagle
blasted my monitor with cheerio shrapnel hearing jim call out the T95's Pixar Hips™
I had no idea where the Yippee Bug from Lethal Company came from, but now I know.
Great video Bo!
Will be patient for part two of the stormrunner video
You guys out did yourselves in this one! This video was a blast (in more ways than one)! And now if someone offers me Ersatz Coffee with no explanation I know how the knowledge to say "no way man. I want the real stuff!"
Roasted acorns (from oak trees, gentlemen), chicory or barley will do it for that bitter roasted beverage warm feeling.
yes jim, acorns make an "okay" coffee, and you can use them as flour too
Attempt number 1123: Please try out the Stridsvagn m/42 Delat Torn.
(Labelled as the Strv. m/42 DT in the Swedish tech tree.)
Replies will continue until the algorithm makes them reach Bo.
Your Ersatzkaffee doesn't need coffein, if you have Pervitin (Panzerschokolade / tank chocolate)
Roasting the seeds found in pinecones may have been an option for the coffee substitute. Women would also use something referred to as "Liquid Stockings", which was basically gravy browning or caramel color that they brushed on their lower legs prior to drawing the seam on with coal or charcoal. Pulped raspberries or chokecherries in coldcream was also used as a substitute for lipstick and blush.
Acorns from White Oaks are preferred as they have less tannins and are therefore less bitter. Added chicory gives a more earthy coffee flavor while the roasted acorns have more nutty flavor.
Pine nuts are a baking staple and very tasty in hummus, but too oily for an ersatz coffee.
Pinecone coffee......
Jim is always introducing new things to me with the dialogue in these vids.
You can make jam with pine cones. It's okay, but the pine cones themselves in it don't really taste like anything, it's pretty much just edible wood.
8:54 "I'm out of vehicles anyway" lol
Bo Time Gaming please play the FV 4005 HESH Shell Express again please, it’s been 3+ years since the last (and only) time you’ve played it. PLZ!!!!!🙄🙏

WE AAARRREEE!!!!😂🎉🎉
😂😂@@siepkotack2864
in Tunisia, we grind the seeds inside the pinecones and use them to make a special desert, it has really strong and nice flavor, despite being pitch black
if they only bring one old tank back i hope its this one. Honestly one of my biggest war thunder regrets was not getting this tank when it was still in game
FYI - Boy Scouts don't put badges on their belts, rather Cub Scouts do. Cub Scouts is the younger (under 10 years old) version of Boy Scouts. Regardless, still cool to hear about your belt!
I am pretty sure Stickboy was suggesting Zombies would be sent home to their loved ones.
Really enjoyed the video
4:25 "Ok sure man"
I got that joke!
Acorns and grain were also roasted to make a coffee substitute, but the main ersatz was roasted chilies root as according to my people (not me) it’s closer to the taste of coffee. In any case none have caffeine, so the idea it being an ersatz is a very liberal interpretation of what a substitute really is.
Also in Italy Italians were making some couplets that when Victor Emmanuel was a simple King, they were drinking tasty coffee, but now he is an Emperor and they are drinking chicorée
TIL angling equates to mewing
In the boy scouts Stick excelled in the Japanese art of knots known as Shibari.
In my opinion it's just a better panther. You sacrifice a little bit of movement speed because of all the extra armor but you have extra armor and protection especially on your sides
“Slightly strange video” isn’t that just every TBLF vid ever?
Good lord Bo carries a lot of fucking ammo
There is a Pokémon professor that would know what tree acorns come off of…
Southern soldiers used to drink chicory coffee during the civil war but when available they'd trade their tobacco ration for real coffee
Thank you guys for always giving us a great laugh when we need it. Also, thank you to Jim for what you do sir!
It's funny that Bo and the gang didn't manage to find the T95
They'd also have gravy for stockings in the UK
Just a splash of sassafras root really helps the pine cone squeezings
Replacement coffee was mostly acorns with chicory and beechnuts.
Not pinecones.
At worsts they also used raw sugar and beets + beet flower later in the war.
I see Bo is in big brother mode today
Ersatz = replacement
Ersatz-Kaffee is made from Rye, and you can still buy that stuff today, for example
"Caro Landkaffee"
And who needs caffeine, if you got Panzerschoki?
And btw, there is a pine-needle soft drink out there.. Vostok
Ersatz coffee? You can kiss my ersatz.
there's a list on wiki called ersatz good, it's got a list of all the ersatz things they made
Middle Eastern man: 21:47
FBI: We're listening..... go on....
What the hell was Jim smoking today during the session? I love when Jim is here
With my allergies, pinecones are a great source of..... DEATH.
I would love to see TBLF go into the Scouts and see how they would do. Add in some SERE training into the mix for some spice. 😂😂
Coffee using _pine cones_ doesn't seem likely (although stranger things have happened). Coffee made from _pine nuts_ however - the seeds of a pine cone - seems more likely to me, especially because people are still making substitute coffee using pine nuts today.
Hey *Stick* the etymology of acron is “Oak-corn”, so let’s take a wild guess it’s Oak. Acorns are mostly carb and fat & although acorns can technically be what are often called “beech-nuts” (which are loaded with tannin like tea), but honestly I’m going with oak, because, despite being caffeine-free, if oak acorns are ground and brewed in hot water the drink looks and tastes similar to coffee.
Truly a "Yippee!" Moment
Historically, the Native Americans, particularly the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), considered white pine trees the “Tree of Peace.” They drank pine needle tea for centuries to both prevent illness and treat coughs and colds and later introduced the herbal tea to European settlers.
Oak obviously. You can still buy something like that in Easter Europe.
Hi Bo. I am a ice hockey goalie for my local team. Personally i am a New Jersey Devils Fan and I also think Martin Brodeur was a really good goalie. I am surprised that Jim didn’t say that the Pittsburg penguins was the worst team.
Destroying playgrounds= tactical striking the enemys Moral by denying fun time after Combat
Jim: " It would be nice if the boy scouts teached "aggresive face washing" "lol
Hmm, lets see now, is it that the beech tree bears acorns and the oak tree bears beechnuts - or is it the other way around?
I Really want this tank! So unfortunate i didn't have a good pc to run WT when it was available
Great Video
23 seconds is wild
oak tree is what you're looking for.

What tree gives acorns?
Are Acorns Edible? And Other Acorn Facts - Woodland Trust
the oak tree
Acorns are the fruit of the oak tree. They contain the seeds that can grow new oak trees, and falling to the ground is part of the tree's lifecycle - this is how it reproduces. Having reached the ground, the acorns can grow into new oak trees or be carried off to new locations by wildlife.
I believe the acorn brew started as a hunter gatherer thing, pre dating coffee. Also, acorns are from oak trees
it wasn't a regular Sherman, it was an "American" sherman an XL Sherman.
Hi bo so I've been looking at past videos of yours and you have played the m109 g on the German ter.
