    I bought an inferno back in 1997 still Have it, never knew about break in back then just built it and drove it flat out. Bridgestone tyres wrecked in a day, but engine never gave any trouble except for the pull start.

    great vid . maybe start with an engine heater or a heatgun/hair dryer . helps it get to operating temp faster and is much easier on the engine for break ins.. will increase the longevity by 2 or 3 fold...keep the vids coming.. also always check your slide gap before running . its should just fully open when throttle is pinned and still leave a small .50 mm gap on full brake..

    I was following the direcrions in this video but in my 2nd attempt to turn it on some fuel dripped from tye exhaust. My glow plug was drained so I could not turn it on again. Was that normal?

    • @RCEmpire_HQ
      @RCEmpire_HQ  Před 4 lety

      Hi there. Did you get it started? Yep that sounds normal. Sounds like it's super rich which is normal to begin with, with lots of unburnt fuel and oil. I would hold the throttle down for a split seconds as you try to start it, just to let more air into the carb. I did actually open the idle screw a tiny tiny bit too.

    Hi I have the model down from yours and it is over revving when it's standing still and moving forwards I'm not sure if you can adjust the screws on the engine to turn down the revs if you have any advice please thank you

    • @RCEmpire_HQ
      @RCEmpire_HQ  Před 3 lety

      Hi there! Hmmm, Yeah I think that's where I'd start, with the idle screw. If you take off the air filter and check the gap in the carburettor, it should be around 1mm. If this is too big, it will allow too much air in at idle, and over rev. If it's too small, the car will cut out or possibly not even start.
      Also make sure your trims are set correctly on the transmitter. I try to keep them neutral (in the middle) when tuning or turning any screws.
      Try that and then we'll see :)

    Never break in your engine at that low of temps. 205 is what you should preheat to before ever starting it up. Then keep it there the entire time. Let it cool without letting it run dry and repeat the process about 5 times.

      Hi there. Hmmm, to be honest, I've never used a heat gun for any car, even in the cold haha. It should be okay. Possibly check your glow plug and glow ignitor are good, and you're getting a nice bright glow from the plug. I find the R8 glow plugs give plenty of heat for starting in the cold. But the one in there should be okay.
