S Korea, Japan, Taiwan and ASEAN should be militarily self sufficient same as EU in NATO. USA will support both and it is better for these alliances to be self sufficient than solely rely on the USA.
The EU has no defense at all. Not even the border control works. NATO is another matter, but due to incompetent European politicians the US is in control, and all of Europe is dependent on US support. This is a double failure.
But more important: ALL democratic states must work together to strengthen peace and security through a strong defense co-operation. We have to replace the coal principle with the diamond principle: the connections must be so hand and strong, that they will overcome every attempt of breaking them. It should not matter if a state is big or small: if we work together no one can break us. Take the Baltic example: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are all small countries with only 6 million inhabitants put together. But thanks to NATO troops stationed in all of the countries Russia does not dare to attack us. That is the way to go.
But is should not be a question of Europe or Asia. We have to work together across formal boundaries, since war in one part of the world increases the risk of war in other parts of the world too.

My understanding is the so-called TSM plants in the USA are on hold as TSM found it is much more expensive then led to believe and the USA can ‘t produce qualified staff for those facilities. I would like Singapore to provide much more complete and current reporting.
