around the time this album came out scrim and ruby had a lot of familial issues. scrim unfortunately made these issues public by posting an open letter to ruby on his instagram saying that he felt like they were more of business partners than family. fortunately they’ve both grown and shared that they went to counseling/ therapy to mend their relationship.
while this album is many fans favorite (including mine for a long time) scrim has said he hates this album because of how drugged up he was. you can tell in some songs more than others, but the album definitely is an interesting look into both their lives at the time this was made. i think their depression and drug use was at an all time high before and after this album release, and you can tell because of the lyrics.

the line “eating sticks gotta wash it down” is referring to scrim taking xanax to cope with his struggles at the time and washing them down with either alcohol or lean

@@cwwhz8370you can mix alcohol and prescriptions it’s very dangerous and can easily overdose but you absolutely can mix it, speaking from experience as well it’s common when you have the money to get any substance you want.

My mans feels like a teen finding a great band again and i want that for everyone
This was actually a really bad time for scrim, at the time ruby was about to stop making music with scrim unless scrim got sober. You can hear it in his voice and after this album his voice hasn’t been this “raspy”. He got clean and I’m so proud of him. I’ve seen clips of scrim recently and he’s always looking happy and full of energy. The boys are doing great now and I’ve been listening since 2015 so just seeing them evolve is crazy.

This is in my opinion their best album because it was their lowest point they almost broke up the group, it was right before scrim finally got sober but the plan after this album was suicide (luckily rehab was wat happened). The entire album is just a masterpiece

To answer your question Tom, a "stick" is a Xanax bar (pill) that's 2 milligrams. And when they say "everyday eating sticks gotta wash it down, and when I wash it down you know what it's with" they're most likely referring to taking Xanax with alcohol because alcohol amplifies benzos.
