For someone who started watching torchwood recenlty and is familiar with it, this is pretty accurate
i think the name badges gag would've been funnier if Jacks badge just said "Barrowman" in giant letters

I love Torchwood too, You can't not laugh at this, *Swishy Walk*. I wondered myself why Jack keeps standing on the edge of tall buildings for absolutly no reason.
It was a bit of a cliche at the time, most likely thought up by a director that doesn't quite understand subtlety.

Season 2 made Ianto's character wayyyy better.
And season 3 did until he died
This is a perfect parody of season 1, thank God it got so much better in season 2 and became a master piece in season 3

@@baders087 Um I don’t know really, it had some good moments and an interesting concept but was a bit messy and all over the place. It’s too different to really compare to season 1 and 2 but I’d see it as quite a bit weaker than season 3 but still okay
masterpiece is a bit of a stretch for Children of Earth. It still has a few issues. Primarilly we spend 4 cynical episodes watching a bunch of moronic humans make the worst decisions possible. There's cynical realism and then there's stupid and COE does cross the line in a few places.

I think the decisions made by the politicians is brutally realistic - the only really stupid things I can think of is that the government made the tank for the 456 to stay in for some reason and the secret service woman who was shocked at what the government was doing but should’ve known what was going on and was shown to have no trouble harming kids before

I do really like COE btw. Just don't think its a masterpiece. You know aliens are coming but decide to kill the experts? That is ridiculous not realistic

Benjamoose Yeah basically what you mean is John Barrowman’s Scottish Accent is his real one and he sometimes slips into his American one when talking to none Scottish people

The editing jokes are a bit of a missfire, since Torchwood never did anything like that..

Completely disagree, I would say this is pretty accurate for Torchwood, especially Season 1 and parts of Season 2. Plus this is coming from someone who loves the show. The slow motion walking along with them not really being that much of a secret organisation is very accurate to the real show. Plus I also loved the kiss and teleportation to the roof! It’s so fucking accurate!😂
Tis the Russell T Davis way; if you’re going to go ridiculous, go all out! He’s...an odd writer to say the least, when he goes serious with the writing he actually makes some pretty incredible stuff, but when he goes odd you end up with farting aliens, aliens that survive by making men orgasm themselves into disintegration, main characters standing on random rooftops...that kinda stuff.

Accurate but there is one episode in season 2 that does go into their motivations; not that they’re good or well-developed, but they’re there 😂 I think the best was Toshiko’s, and even that was pretty outlandish. Jack’s waiting for the Doctor and avoiding a depression spiral/boredom from his immortality, Owen’s ex-fiancé’s brutal death and his subsequent mental breakdown led him to also avoid a depression and boredom spiral, Ianto is there for tail/romance (first Lisa then Jack). Gwen’s is the most vague, so her motivation being she’s Welsh is as good as any 😂
Ha ha nice one Dead Ringers. I do like Torchwood but this nicely satirised and exaggerated the funnier/loopier/sillier aspects of it :)

I think you must have miracle day confused with Children of Earth. The only miracle about miracle day is that it ended.
I would have preferred it didn't end, though, if only so the writers had enough time to properly wrap up that storyline and move on to something else that could have righted the ship.

Oh, I'd love to see Jack back on DW - especially since Torchwood seems pretty dead in the water after the awful fourth series. I miss having Jack on DW and it would be great if he came back, but who knows when it would be. Hopefully the 50th anniversary.

I wouldn't say the fourth series was awful. There were bad things with it, but there was good things as well.

It's pretty obvious it's been co-developped by Americans what with the introduction of over the top action like that whirlybird that subsequently gets bazooka'd out of the air by Cooper who randomly found this thing in the trunk of a jeep, and doing a backflip over the team before crashing onto the beach.
The whole story arc would've also easily fit in half the amount of epsisodes.
And the whole story to begin with where jack is now mortal but the world is not makes no sense to begin with if you watch Doctor Who and thusly know why Jack keeps coming back after death.
Rex getting that same "power" in the end just adds a bunch of salt to that.
I mean, there are worse things in life. But It's very jarring, if you watch it immediately after S3 (the 456 story) which is absolutely superb, it just doesn't measure up in any way.
@@kevinsky86 I never said there weren't problems with it, I just found it relatively entertaining. I thought the race to find the drug for Jack was a very funny scene, for example.
