Every now and then I get questions from people "how can you hack this or that game, my game crashes instantly or i get banned if i use cheat engine", well this video is reply to those questions.
I have come across some games in past that scan running processes or "installed programs" list and will detect any known hacking tools, including cheat engine.
Cheat engine itself doesn't have any means to hide itself, but by using this simple method, you'll increase the chances of NOT getting detected.
I wouldn't know how many games use this nowdays, because I have been using this trick for many years and I'm not going to test either, but I know some games instantly close when "cheat engine" is present.
I think some Forza Horizon games (or all) might have such check too. It won't ban you, but game will instantly close if it's detected. The Crew also had it, possibly The Crew 2 too.

UPDATE - YES this works on latest (CE 7.5), i literally just tested, because bunch of half-wits kept on leaving whiny comments that it doesn't work, so i wanted to test and be 100% sure .. but ofcourse i already knew it works. so if it doesn't work for you, then you did something wrong!

Can I do pointer scans with this?. or is there an alternative?. I was able to make a UCE but my pointerscans come up blank when they normally work fine with normal CE
i never had issues using pointer scans. maybe you just edited it wrong? altho i haven't tried pointer scans on later versions, I see no difference in them. Just try exact identical method with both and make sure you edited it right.

i have no problem opening tables with custom ce, if you can't open certain tables, they're made by some brainless idgets who have 0 idea what they are doing.

after moving the files back to the original folder, when I try to open the application I get an error that says "the application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect, please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." I'm not sure what I have done wrong. Did I mess up in the hex editor?
update* the name i chose for the application was off by a letter

most .exe program icons can be changed by using "resource hacker", its free tool.

this is not a magic method to bypass any anti-cheat, i said it only defeats basic cheat detection that some games use. also make sure you did everything right, if you forgot to change something, it wont work.
also if you have cheat engine forum or website open in browser, game might detect "cheat engine" in browser's title, or even if you have this video open in browser, game might detect that aswell, since games look for "cheat engine" in process list and titles of opened programs.
After saving the icon changed and turn useless.
I do not know if there is an issue with Cheat Engine or what. But before trying this trick, I tried Cheat Engine without any modification at all on the following game: The Mobius Machine Beta v0.3.12. I was able to generate unlimited heath and worked just fine. But then I downloaded v0.3.15 and tried again. Surprisingly it didn't work. Ever since that day I haven't been able to make it work. I thought there was an anti cheat on that game, but I don't think so. But I don't know what could be the problem. Then I found this video, tried this out, but same thing, it didn't work either. But thanks for sharing. If anyone come across any solution, I will appreciate any hint.
Can you do a tutorial for FiveM? after renaming it, it still doesnt work and the game crashes.
FiveM probably not only searches for a "cheat Engine" string, but also for "x86_64-SSE4-AVX2".
because what other programms that runs in the background, that have that string?
read the title "basic anti-cheat". CE is not a stealth tool and was never designed to be such. you need a heavily customized version to prevent any kind of detection.
you can test process names by taking some dummy .exe and renaming it to various things and running them alongside the game, if game closes/crashes upon one of them, then you know what it checks for.

when i run the saved program then it says that the software is not supported (the app cant run on this pc), im on windows 11, is this why?
that's what you get for using win11 .. it's litearlly OS for people who have no brain.
you do realize that on win11 you are not in charge of anything right? you don't own your data on win11, even your passwords are stored in their servers and they can give it to authorities when asked.
win11 is biggest mass-scale spyware that has ever been made, one must have IQ below 80 to use win11. they probably disabled it remotely because renamed CE can bypass some basic anti-cheats, so they disable it and prevent you from using it.
with win 11, they are in control of your PC, not you.

Yeah, that's EAC being annoying. Block the EAC launcher in your firewall both incoming and outgoing and that might help depending on the game.
FH5 crashes when starting the renamed engine or if it is already open fh5 won't start..

Just make sure that in xvi32, in the replace menu at the bottom right: scope from "Begin" is checked and re replace all the names
i was gonna say it's on by default, but guess not. either way it shouldn't matter as when i open the file, cursor is on first byte anyways, but yeah "being" is safer option.

i tried this with windows 11 and i dont think it works because when i renamed the 2nd file to spying roarer it changed them all to the same name then when i go to the last part i opened the spying roarer (cheat engine) and it said it was missing a file so i dont know that to do

Doesn't work unfortunately. The method to rename everything works, and CE starts. But game I'm using this with shuts down as soon as it's launched when renamed CE is running.

heelo Sethioz, i successfully changed cheat engine (hex changed so the name of the exe etc changed aswell) BUT even after those changes my forza horizon is crashing... any idea if its me doing something wrong or just fh5 anti cheat update?
Edit: after searching CE forum i found out that forza did an update on march which added new thing to the anti cheat which blocks CE even after full rename of the program

@@Sethioz Went through every exe/sig and dll etc in the cheat engine folder and renamed them all to a random unique name, still gets detected by forza and instantly crashes on startup, while in the garage or while driving, etc.
I even went back and quadruple-checked just to make double sure that I didn't miss any sigs or renames and after some grueling renaming and double checking I did miss a single one but it still doesn't work even after changing it, so either your explanation/tutorial was terrible and you missed something crucial that wasn't mentioned in the video or somehow they can detect cheat engine but only YOU can still use it which just doesn't make sense so it's most likely the former lol

cheat engine itself doesnt work anymore after this, i did this step by step not missing anything, it changes apperience after the first change. for example if i change cheatengine in the main exe to "name" then it looses its logo and that indicates that it is not working anymore

yes it does, darkbyte has added malware into installer. i cant even update ce anymore, i install it in virtual machine and then copy the files over manually. this is also why majority of anti-viruses detect ce as malware
