    North Bend is a mountain town. Why do the residents have two wheel drive cars with summer tires? This happens every winter.

      It’s a “mountain town” but most people, especially that have moved there in the last 20 years, live in the low lying areas around the river at 500’ elevation.

      Safety... tax dollars to make roads safe. You know how many people died from snow and ice accidents?????? Taxes you pay are to maintain. Talking as if 2 wheels vs 4 wheel us the issue. Grow up... its Safety. People Die on these types of dangerous roads. Why buy 4 wheel drive when your taxes pay to clear roads from Hazzardous material??? Stfu

      Very true. I think it’s so typical of lower class citizens to complain about something they can easily exploit for their own, as well as everybody else in the area’s benefit. That’s the real difference in poor and rich people. Some see a problem and complain, others see an opportunity and take. Perspective is a powerful tool that I’m glad you are diligently using 👍

    People in the comments are complaining about the cities response to this ‘disaster’ or ‘weather emergency’. It’s snow. Expect it if you decide to live in a town in the foothills of the Cascade mountains. Get snow tires or cars that can handle such things. Stop whining.

    Puts a smile on my face whenever I hear lawmakers being proactive about protecting our natural resources especially something as important as our water source. Not just jumping to use chemicals so they can quickly and cost effectively fix the issue is a huge improvement within law makers caring for the future. Huge ups!!! Keep it up and we’ll keep the votes in the same direction…

      That's an awful cop out. You good that opinion, fine but then you better have more than four plows. You also better have a plan (not option) to call in additional help. You pay tax money not for a government to throw up their hands and wish the snow away. It's the winter, it snows. Get a back up plan together if you're going to not use de-icer.

      I live just outside North Bend (unincorporated KC). The slush piles, etc on North Bend roads (lack of putting that plow blade down) are beyond what a citizen should expect. I run two full (vs just AWD) 4x4s and they are still having to be run in 4x as of yesterday.
      At first after initial snowfall a couple weeks ago, I was like peeps are just b****ing. But the roads never improved. And that IS on that local government. Plow yer darn roads.

    Seattle and the people who live here are good at one thing EXCUSES. Know that we live in the NW yet don't have the equipment, AND Washington has paid for laziness in the workforce. Feel bad for people in North Bend but you need to vote out the people keeping you down!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The plows aren't even getting the snow off the streets lol. I live in Northern Ca and they use only sand and small gravel for all the roads up here, but first gotta plow the snow off. *The more you know*

    @2:00 - That is a snowplow, with a spreader! It seems to be spreading sand. Mix in some sawdust. Better blade edges would help also!

    I wonder if they have looked into using beet juice deicer, it’s natural and much better for the environment. Some places in Canada use it to deice roads.

      Citizens should learn that it snows in winter, and they should stock up on enough supplies to last so that they don't have to drive. Human convenience does not trump the existence of everything else. We're killing off our wildlife, as well as polluting our water and soil, but hey, safety first, right?

    All this city people mad because they have to commute to Seattle/Bellevue, making there money while driving up home prices. North bend needs to turn into its own thriving city, keeping things local and sustainable. As inconvenient as it is to commute like that, props the the Mayer. Keep North Bend a local and healthy mountain town

NOt only for work but also even for older folks/sick folks to get their medication from a pharmacy and so many other reasons. Your taxes are supposed to go to have more than 4 plows available. SO spare us from your privilege
