Gummygoo has quickly become my favorite character, not necessarily because of his character, but what he brought to the series. The npcs in Caine's adventures aren't just placeholder characters with no backstory and life, it comes with them, predetermined, until they're gaslit hard enough to where they have an existential crisis. They're living beings with fake memories and lives, that is horrifying.
Dang, I really wish Gummigoo became part of the official troupe. Really would look like a nice expansion of his and Pomni’s possible friendship. Then again, I don’t think he necessarily *died,* maybe just reset back to the Candy Canyon Kingdom.
Same thing with Mr. Puzzles from smg4 he like him, he gets killed. Gummigoo we start to love him he killed like seriously! What the hell is Luke and Kevin's with that?!
Gummigoo's family was actually part of his plot-line - it's the reason him and his buddies stole the syrup since his mom was sick and the syrup was going to save her (and other people from his town, iirc?). He discusses this with his buddies during his first introduction. So this doesn't make him any different than any other NPCs - they are all given motivations for their role, and the fact that he can't remember his mom's face is an indicator of this since she doesn't actually exist and was just a footnote to his NPC motivation.

Honestly I feel the same way. He has an interesting backstory and, being Australian, I kinda find his voice actor familiar. The number of times jn indie animation where a loveable character is killed off in such a sudden and heartbreaking way is surprisingly high. Whether he returns or not I cannot be entirely sure of, as I dont have any involvement in the show as of now, so yeah. I mean, the last time I felt a similar reaction while watching a yt animation was with a couple of the deaths in Wolf Song The Movie (not mentioning which ones because heavy spoilers) and although in there I can tell the deaths are permanent, here, I at least hope that he is brought back

Aswell as the accent, i enjoy hearing Aussie accent heh. also love the choice of candy and colors he's made out of plus i like reptiles :33!!!

@@OzzyNe0nhe's the experimental NPC Caine talked about, so he probably doesn't know what would've happened after the humans are done with their mission unless he was planning on just turning them off and saving them for another quest, since they said Caine likes to repurpose NPCs all the time
What I think: Every adventure, all of the NPCs and the area are bought into existence the moment the adventure starts. This means that at the end of every adventure, since the adventure area no longer has a use, everything in the area gets deleted. So sadly, Caine deleted Gummigoo. However, Caine can still reuse Gummigoo, but since the Gummigoo who was friends with Pomni got deleted, any new version of him wouldn’t remember Pomni at all.
Pomni would be confused that Gummygoo didn't know it was her so that would make her a little upset but I think Pomni would hide that fact that she is upset that Gummygoo didn't know it was her
Here's the thing: Caine is using a brand new AI. AI today doesn't forget the same way as normal AI does. Scientific papers have shown that an AI that turns into a certain kind of way, could potentially stay that way unless completely wiped. I think that's kind of the reason jailbreaking AI works, because you are asking the AI to basically act the way the AI WOULD if it didn't have stringent gaurdrails. In the future Gummygoo may appear as a different character, but if Pomni can get it just right and trigger the right kind of prompt in Gummigoo, she could potentially start to get the Gummigoo she knew back.
My (loose) theory, is that Caine is unknowingly getting closer to creating actual proper life/AI, as he said at the start of the episode that the NPC’s had been improved, I think he’ll get closer to creating fully sentient, conscious beings, and there’s even a little bit of dialogue that could foreshadow this; Caine mentions that things might get to a point where he can’t tell humans from NPC’s, what if it gets to that point because there is no difference? Just a theory!

Given that Caine has theoretically confused some NPCs and humans in the past, if his reaction is anything to go by, it seems he’s already mastered creating fully sentient AI for the NPCs, it’s just that none of them has had to question their existence _as NPCs_ until Gummigoo fell into the debug room.

Yeah bc earlier in the ep kinger was talking about how long Raghatha was going to get intended into the circus so he will come back and Caine just exploded him back to the kingdom (tp)
I think the question with Gummygoo may not be if he's alive or not at least physically, because he's an NPC, he was probably just put away alongside the other candy kingdom people where he belongs, but rather the question is when he comes back, will he still be the same Gummygoo Pomni got to know?, because if he's reusing him for another adventure, Caine will probably overwrite his memories and behaviors to better fit the other adventures, like the various characters you meet in both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, where despite them being the same exact models as the last game, the MM folk are not the same people you met at OoT, and many had full 180 role reversals, like Koume and Kotake who were pure antagonists in OoT, but in MM they're friendly NPCs, so while physically he may come back on multiple occasions, the Gummygoo Pomni befriended may indeed be dead, or at least somewhere else if Caine decides to save his candy kingdom memories for later use instead of discarding them after replacing them to better fit the current quests

I agree since NPC means "Non-Playable Character". In video games there are NPC's that you can interact with but are largely there to fill space. Then you have Specified NPC's who have their spacific role in the the story but you can't play them or control them in any sort of way yourself at any point of the game. Gummi being the one of the villains of this side world is programed with the belief he hand his friends have to steal the Syrup to help save is his mother and village. The fact the character himself points that a character model of his mother wasn't there means that his mother and his village didn't exactly exist in that game story. It was just an implanted part of his story to motivate him in the game rather then being evil for the sake of being evil. Kinda like how in "Wreck-It Ralph" it was brought up that Sergeant Calhoun was programed with most tragic story in the game, which was that she would do perimeter checks for Cy-Bugs. The one day day she didn't complete this task was the day of her wedding resulting in the death of her just wedded husband. That story never happened in reality, it was just a memory that he programed to have and modivate her character with in the game her character existed in. Gummi might return as there is a character model of him, so Caine would only need to add in a new copy of him into that game world. Ragatha also tried to reassure Pomni that Caine does reuse NPC characters at times. This might leave Gummi without any memory of Pomni and what he learned since it could be bad for NPC's to be aware they are NPC's. The Candy Kingdom on the other hand, I don't think they would forget Jax unleashing "The Fudge" on them. So they won't be as welcoming to the Circus mates next time we see them.
In video game and programming, there are terms called "parent" and "instance". Ling story short, the default 3D model is the source, or parent. And when this 3d model is put into a scene, it is like a creation from the parent, the source. It is then called an instance. Also, if the parent is modified, edited, the instance will herited the modification. But it is also possible to edit the instance, without affectibg the parent. Like multiple variant with different colors. So far, our Gummigoo we see is an instance. When Cain removes it from the circus, it is the instance, with its new reality knowledge. If Gummigoo does return, it will be a new one, with wiped memories. Meaning our Gummigoo is dead, unless Cain got hus memory script saved.
It’s obvious Gummigoo’s mother doesn’t exist beyond being the impetus for the gummy gang stealing the syrup. She’s just a piece of code in his current programming. Caine didn’t even bother giving Gummigoo actual memories of her. If Gummigoo is used again in another adventure it’s doubtful he will remember Pomni or anything about no-clipping under the map.
Caine probably just sent Gummigoo back to the Candy Canyon Kingdom, it would make sense that he would because Ragatha said "I'm really sorry about that, Pomni. At least you tried. I know Caine sometimes likes to reuse NPC's." Keywords: "I know Caine sometimes likes to reuse NPC's." Caine also might of sent him to one of those empty rooms with the dummies, like you stated, Caine might use those rooms to store NPC's.
I am hoping we have some sort of Matrix situation with Pomni - that she believes in herself and takes control of her destiny and the things going on around her. They all assume they are powerless, but i think that we will see Pomni, or one of the characters, do something that shows they have some ability to control the world around them. I believe that it is a battle of wills and that we will see this character again.
Gummygoo is no different to the other NPC’s in that episode, he just had the most screen time out of all of them. This can be backed up by Caine literally saying that he made all the NPC’s “57 times more immersive”. It’s also probably why he turned Gummygoo into confetti. As an AI himself, having too many AIs in one location (especially ones with ‘big brains’) maybe the game will get more laggy than it already is and basically brake the game which would be bad for him and the main cast of characters… I imagine that as an equivalent to a Minecraft world-full of TNT which usually crashes the game. But we won’t know until Glitch shows us in the next episodes.
A huge point about a potential gummigoo's return a lot of people (but not everybody) doesn't think of the implication. Could Cain bring back Gummigoo? I mean c'mon, is that even a real question ? he created him from nothing, he can surely do it again, or even just copy/paste him if he didn't deleted all his work on the candy kingdom. BUT the one important detail that is the biggest unknow : Would it still be the gummigoo Pomni has known ? People mention we saw his 3D model...ok good, are his memories linked to his 3D model? The answer is : very unlikely. and if Caine purely deleted gummigoo, him as a person has ceased to be. Maybe Caine could go an extra step trying to recreate his mind, but he's probably unaware of all the existential dread this random NPC experienced ...nor he would probably care about doing all of that for the sake of Pomni. And about remaking him from his 3D model, Caine could either bring Gummigoo from his original blank state ... or he could as well recycle his 3D model and create a completly different personna, imagine if this time he's no longer "Gummigoo" but "Henry". Both options woud be soul crushing for Pomni to encounter. Best case scenario would be if Caine simply despawned him and all his files are still somewhere.
Since Gummigoo is an NPC in a video game, I believe that he will be in other episodes of the series as The Amazing Digital Circus is proven over and over to be a video game in the 90's, and it is already a ginormous achievement to be able to be able to contain multiple consciences (hope I spelled that right). Since Gummigoo is an NPC with AI comparable to - in my opinion - sentience, the hardware will have to reuse NPCs, as to avoid wasting space and memory.
I am so mad at Caine now!!!😡😡 Gummigoo better come back!!! He really made me think about my past mental health problems somehow (I totally cried) and he redeemed Pomni for me (yeah, I used to hate her a little)
The challenge for me here is the "value" we assign to Gummigoo₁. What I mean here is, even if we reassemble him with his memories intact, should we consider him as the same Gummigoo₁ we met the first time? Or does he become Gummigoo₂? Remember: Gummigoo₁ is CODE, which makes this discussion even more complicated if we take into account how we do not fully understand yet how consciousness works in TADC. It is "COPY, PASTE" not "CUT, PASTE" as Jacob Geller puts it in his video about the non-existence of souls. I'm so excited to see if he ever returns, but for now I don't think Gummigoo₁ will ever return. Any future appearance will only be of Gummigoo₂, the duplicate.
I definitely think that there will be another episode that takes place in the Candy Canyon Kingdom with Gummigoo because in the season one trailer we see a blue mannequin with the background of the candy canyon kingdom that we didn’t see in episode two
Maybe if Gummigoo gets reused in other adventures, his memory of Pomni will still exist deep down, like in a lot of movies, so maybe there is a chance he’ll be okay.
Plus since gummygoo is candy: even if he did get killed by Caine: his blood and guys would be gummy and not confetti and paper: he will return and is alive (Caine is secretly pure evil for this and only Pomni knows this
He may be brought back by accident or his conciseness may have been downloaded to his model He could potentially use the trick pomni showed him to escape and try and trick Caine into believing he’s another human. That may be the best way to bring him back as Caine controls everything but he ends up being oblivious to the small details so it can work
Also another reason,it would be kind of weird if they made gummigoo go through all that and just die in the end,since for people in his situation it would go like this.Even if everything you thought of is shattered and nothing matters to you anymore you can still overcome it by admitting to it and adjusting it to something better,with the help along the way you’ll see that although your reality is flawed at least you can have something/someone to rely on although in the end would it have been all worth it,as the one time you loosen yourself up,feel what you had never felt before which is acceptance by the time you realize this you’re already gone and as everyone is watching you die they can do nothing but just blame themselves for your death. Obviously this can be translated in a better way but if they just leave him like this it would kind of put a bad message,although this is true it is kind of more of a harsh reality for some people and this would make people lose all hope to if their even a solution which I don’t think anyone would feel comfortable with the answer being no and their death will be making others suffer.

3:00 his sole purpose is to be an obstacle for the humans in the candy Canyon kingdom but that doesnt mean npcs just act without some sort of logic the game has a story the npcs have backstories They're stealing the princess's syrup to save his mom and some other people. Gummigoo's mom is his motive for stealing the syrup which is what sets the gane in motion but she doesnt have a model because the players never see her 9:40 Caine said in the episode he was experimenting with a new Ai

I have a feeling he’ll be back. The plushies in the end credits include a Gummygoo figure. I don’t think they’d tool up a production run of a one-shot character.
I’m really hoping Gummigoo is in a Free Guy-esque situation, rather than gone. I have no doubt his model was deleted rather than teleported with that snap, but AI code is usually stored separately than the model/skin it’s housed in. We’ll probably see Gummigoo again, likely rebooted as Guy was rather than completely erased and remade; “who he was” is still there, but the memories would need to be activated to be accessed again. That’s my theory to cope, I suppose.
I have a theory what if when Jax opened the candy Canyon Kingdom gates, and the fudge monster got through and one of the later episodes they will go back to the candy Kingdom to fix everything and my idea for the name candy canyon cracks because everything is broken and killed, and that is why when someone asked goose Works is there gonna be any blood and Gore goose works, said do decaying bodies count?
Circus Theory I have a question? Also a idea for the next episode. I think zooble might be the next to abstract. Just think about it! She didn’t come on the adventure. And she’s always so emo. I can tell something’s not right.
I find it really interesting because when we dream, its almost like we are NPCs ourselves. For example, try remembering if you've ever had a dream where lets say you were in a completely unrealistic place or situation. For me, I've had several of these dreams and additionally, sometimes these dreams fill my mind with completely fake information about my life that I think is real. It was so bad at one point that I legitimately thought I lived in a rich house with a rich family. Until I woke up of course.
Gummigoo was a programmed NPC; unless you actively erase it, it still very much exists. I think Cain sent Gummigoo back to the candy kingdom with no recollection of the previous adventure.

I think the question with Gummygoo may not be if he's alive or not at least physically, because he's an NPC, he was probably just put away alongside the other candy kingdom people where he belongs, but rather the question is when he comes back, will he still be the same Gummygoo Pomni got to know?, because if he's reusing him for another adventure, Caine will probably overwrite his memories and behaviors to better fit the other adventures, like the various characters you meet in both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, where despite them being the same exact models as the last game, the MM folk are not the same people you met at OoT, and many had full 180 role reversals, like Koume and Kotake who were pure antagonists in OoT, but in MM they're friendly NPCs, so while physically he may come back on multiple occasions, the Gummygoo Pomni befriended may indeed be dead, or at least somewhere else if Caine decides to save his candy kingdom memories for later use instead of discarding them after replacing them to better fit the current quests

I agree since NPC means "Non-Playable Character". In video games there are NPC's that you can interact with but are largely there to fill space. Then you have Specified NPC's who have their spacific role in the the story but you can't play them or control them in any sort of way yourself at any point of the game. Gummi being the one of the villains of this side world is programed with the belief he hand his friends have to steal the Syrup to help save is his mother and village. The fact the character himself points that a character model of his mother wasn't there means that his mother and his village didn't exactly exist in that game story. It was just an implanted part of his story to motivate him in the game rather then being evil for the sake of being evil.
Kinda like how in "Wreck-It Ralph" it was brought up that Sergeant Calhoun was programed with most tragic story in the game, which was that she would do perimeter checks for Cy-Bugs. The one day day she didn't complete this task was the day of her wedding resulting in the death of her just wedded husband. That story never happened in reality, it was just a memory that he programed to have and modivate her character with in the game her character existed in.
Gummi might return as there is a character model of him, so Caine would only need to add in a new copy of him into that game world. Ragatha also tried to reassure Pomni that Caine does reuse NPC characters at times. This might leave Gummi without any memory of Pomni and what he learned since it could be bad for NPC's to be aware they are NPC's. The Candy Kingdom on the other hand, I don't think they would forget Jax unleashing "The Fudge" on them. So they won't be as welcoming to the Circus mates next time we see them.

It doesn't matter what happens to the kingdom because they are all NPCs.
In video game and programming, there are terms called "parent" and "instance". Ling story short, the default 3D model is the source, or parent. And when this 3d model is put into a scene, it is like a creation from the parent, the source. It is then called an instance. Also, if the parent is modified, edited, the instance will herited the modification. But it is also possible to edit the instance, without affectibg the parent. Like multiple variant with different colors.
So far, our Gummigoo we see is an instance. When Cain removes it from the circus, it is the instance, with its new reality knowledge. If Gummigoo does return, it will be a new one, with wiped memories. Meaning our Gummigoo is dead, unless Cain got hus memory script saved.
I really want Gummigoo to return in a future episode.

It’s obvious Gummigoo’s mother doesn’t exist beyond being the impetus for the gummy gang stealing the syrup. She’s just a piece of code in his current programming. Caine didn’t even bother giving Gummigoo actual memories of her.
If Gummigoo is used again in another adventure it’s doubtful he will remember Pomni or anything about no-clipping under the map.

Caine probably just sent Gummigoo back to the Candy Canyon Kingdom, it would make sense that he would because Ragatha said "I'm really sorry about that, Pomni. At least you tried. I know Caine sometimes likes to reuse NPC's." Keywords: "I know Caine sometimes likes to reuse NPC's." Caine also might of sent him to one of those empty rooms with the dummies, like you stated, Caine might use those rooms to store NPC's.

I am hoping we have some sort of Matrix situation with Pomni - that she believes in herself and takes control of her destiny and the things going on around her. They all assume they are powerless, but i think that we will see Pomni, or one of the characters, do something that shows they have some ability to control the world around them. I believe that it is a battle of wills and that we will see this character again.

Gummygoo is no different to the other NPC’s in that episode, he just had the most screen time out of all of them. This can be backed up by Caine literally saying that he made all the NPC’s “57 times more immersive”. It’s also probably why he turned Gummygoo into confetti. As an AI himself, having too many AIs in one location (especially ones with ‘big brains’) maybe the game will get more laggy than it already is and basically brake the game which would be bad for him and the main cast of characters…
I imagine that as an equivalent to a Minecraft world-full of TNT which usually crashes the game. But we won’t know until Glitch shows us in the next episodes.
When Gummigoo comes back, I hope he keeps all his memories, and remembers Pomni.

A huge point about a potential gummigoo's return a lot of people (but not everybody) doesn't think of the implication.
Could Cain bring back Gummigoo? I mean c'mon, is that even a real question ? he created him from nothing, he can surely do it again, or even just copy/paste him if he didn't deleted all his work on the candy kingdom.
BUT the one important detail that is the biggest unknow : Would it still be the gummigoo Pomni has known ?
People mention we saw his 3D model...ok good, are his memories linked to his 3D model? The answer is : very unlikely. and if Caine purely deleted gummigoo, him as a person has ceased to be. Maybe Caine could go an extra step trying to recreate his mind, but he's probably unaware of all the existential dread this random NPC experienced ...nor he would probably care about doing all of that for the sake of Pomni.
And about remaking him from his 3D model, Caine could either bring Gummigoo from his original blank state ... or he could as well recycle his 3D model and create a completly different personna, imagine if this time he's no longer "Gummigoo" but "Henry".
Both options woud be soul crushing for Pomni to encounter.
Best case scenario would be if Caine simply despawned him and all his files are still somewhere.
Since Gummigoo is an NPC in a video game, I believe that he will be in other episodes of the series as The Amazing Digital Circus is proven over and over to be a video game in the 90's, and it is already a ginormous achievement to be able to be able to contain multiple consciences (hope I spelled that right). Since Gummigoo is an NPC with AI comparable to - in my opinion - sentience, the hardware will have to reuse NPCs, as to avoid wasting space and memory.

The challenge for me here is the "value" we assign to Gummigoo₁. What I mean here is, even if we reassemble him with his memories intact, should we consider him as the same Gummigoo₁ we met the first time? Or does he become Gummigoo₂? Remember: Gummigoo₁ is CODE, which makes this discussion even more complicated if we take into account how we do not fully understand yet how consciousness works in TADC. It is "COPY, PASTE" not "CUT, PASTE" as Jacob Geller puts it in his video about the non-existence of souls. I'm so excited to see if he ever returns, but for now I don't think Gummigoo₁ will ever return. Any future appearance will only be of Gummigoo₂, the duplicate.

That may be the best way to bring him back as Caine controls everything but he ends up being oblivious to the small details so it can work
Also another reason,it would be kind of weird if they made gummigoo go through all that and just die in the end,since for people in his situation it would go like this.Even if everything you thought of is shattered and nothing matters to you anymore you can still overcome it by admitting to it and adjusting it to something better,with the help along the way you’ll see that although your reality is flawed at least you can have something/someone to rely on although in the end would it have been all worth it,as the one time you loosen yourself up,feel what you had never felt before which is acceptance by the time you realize this you’re already gone and as everyone is watching you die they can do nothing but just blame themselves for your death.

3:00 his sole purpose is to be an obstacle for the humans in the candy Canyon kingdom but that doesnt mean npcs just act without some sort of logic the game has a story the npcs have backstories
They're stealing the princess's syrup to save his mom and some other people. Gummigoo's mom is his motive for stealing the syrup which is what sets the gane in motion but she doesnt have a model because the players never see her

The episode implies that Gummigoo's memories of his family were just pre-programmed into him and that his family doesn't actually exist outside of said memories... but that raises another question. How would Caine have explained the non-existence of Gummigoo's family to him if he'd ever decided to go and visit them? He might have ended up having an existential crisis even if he hadn't fallen into the out-of-bounds room.

I’m really hoping Gummigoo is in a Free Guy-esque situation, rather than gone.
I have no doubt his model was deleted rather than teleported with that snap, but AI code is usually stored separately than the model/skin it’s housed in. We’ll probably see Gummigoo again, likely rebooted as Guy was rather than completely erased and remade; “who he was” is still there, but the memories would need to be activated to be accessed again.
That’s my theory to cope, I suppose.

What if Gummygoo is actually a person stuck in the digital circus?
I find it really interesting because when we dream, its almost like we are NPCs ourselves. For example, try remembering if you've ever had a dream where lets say you were in a completely unrealistic place or situation. For me, I've had several of these dreams and additionally, sometimes these dreams fill my mind with completely fake information about my life that I think is real. It was so bad at one point that I legitimately thought I lived in a rich house with a rich family. Until I woke up of course.
