Obrigado Deus obrigado anos 80
I was born in '82 but I vividly remember this being played regularly on the radio as I was growing up, and absolutely LOVING it (along with their other songs) They just seemed to have such a special sound to me... ❤
I was born in 1970, so the early 80's were great years for me. I remember it like a soft-focus, sunlight drenched dream-like memory. All my senses & physicality were at 100%. I had an optimistic, playful, positive view of the world. It all seemed so much better and more fun then. This wonderful song was important to me then, and is important to me now. Oh, to be young again.
This is the song that made me fall in love with Level42 back in 1986... I was 12yo and then when i discovered their first albums i was astonished by their funky-fusion instrumental roots... they are my favourite all-time band and imho the most underrated talents in music history. Long live Level42
I got into Level 42 whilst serving in the Army during the 80s, they’re one of or maybe even the most underrated British band, superb musicians in no matter which line up over the years. 🎼🎤🎸
Remember when this came out and didn't take that much notice at the time, but I am now catching up again with L42 and have watched this several times and realise what a clever video it is. Probably their best one. MK genius as ever.
This is an exceptionally well-produced song. Although it has a distinct 80's sound it's not a cheap quality production and has aged very well. I'm glad I was born in the last decade where actual talent, not shock factor and sex appeal, sold records and the results were so outstanding. Not everyone had the huge sales of Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston but the standards were often equally as high. Until we can get back to focusing on the gems that lie within ordinary looking people we'll overlook the next Elton John's, Phil Collins and Level 42's who could write such great pieces of music with capturing lyrics. I feel very deprived looking at the Top 10 albums and singles nowadays.
RIP Boon Gould, one of the most iconic songs of the 80s was "something about you". I saw Level 42 live at Wembley Arena in 1987, when this song came on the place was jumping. Why don't they make music like this anymore?
The 80s were a beautiful and incredible era, and experiencing it was a true privilege. Being immersed in the music scene during that time was truly memorable. It's difficult to pick a bad song from Level 42. This particular song was the first one I heard from them, and from that moment on, Level 42 became a significant part of my life. They truly are a great band.
No other music will come close to this amazing decade, by far the best musicwise and I feel so damn lucky to have lived thru those years, tons of good memories that forever will be part of Me ♥
Thats Cheri Lunghi, i fancied her so much in the manageress. As a tune, it makes me emotional. Long story, but my uncle who was my replacement father figure introduced me to level 42 and world machine. It has an extra meaning and significance.
Reminds me of the days after school in the late 80s when we would go and choose a movie from the video library around the corner. They used to play a lot of Level 42 in the background there.
"Something About You" is a timeless pop classic that captivated audiences upon its debut in 1985 by the British band Level 42, featuring a remarkable fusion of synth-pop, jazz, and funk elements. Mark King, the lead singer, delivers soulful vocals while effortlessly showcasing his unparalleled skill with the bass guitar. The song's irresistible groove, catchy melodies, and heartfelt lyrics combine to create a euphonic masterpiece that has stood the test of time and continues to bewitch listeners worldwide to this day.
This film clip is genius. Just utterly stunning. The song is of course amazing. But so many cool things going on. They don’t make em like this anymore. Utter genius

That there is something about you

Gone, fragile but free
We remain tender together

*Celebrate these decades!!!*
I feel so lucky to have been born in the 70s to have a enjoyed the music of the 80s and 90s...life was so much easier then

You're so right! The world is so crazy! Everyday horror news, war in the ukraine, the flew named covid ...
That's why i reduce to hear/see the daily news!
I prefere music in this weird times!
All good for you/family
For sure
Man, Mark King should be actor in the 80s. His acting in this Clip is so good.
What about Top Gun mate? But the song is actually AWESOME!
Wish I knew then that the guy I sat next to, when at Cowes high school on, the isle of Wight... Would go on to make such great songs like this and many others.. Still see Mark out and about, to this day..and have a laugh about life, back in the day. Nice bloke Mark King.
Grande Level 42 !!!!

How, how can it be
That a love carved out of caring
Fashioned by fate could suffer so hard
From the games played once too often
But making mistakes is a part of life's imperfection
Born of the years
Is it so wrong to be human after all?
Drawn into the stream of undefined illusion
Those diamond dreams, they can't disguise the truth
That there is something about you, baby, so right
I wouldn't be without you, baby tonight
If ever our love was concealed
No one can say that we didn't feel
A million things and a perfect dream of life (gone) fragile but free
We remain tender together
If not so in love
And it's not so wrong, we're only human after all
These changing years, they add to your confusion
Oh and you need to hear the time that told the truth
That there is something about you, baby so right
Don't want to be without you, baby tonight
Because there's something about you, baby, so right
I couldn't live without you, baby, tonight
And that there's something about you, yeah
And I couldn't be without you, tonight
Thanks for saving me a click. Well done!
Thanks for lyrics
Thanks so much 👍
A huge hit in Brazil. Good memories. Wonderful music. 😭🇧🇷
Love this song, cracking video also

Listening to this I remembered that when this was played on radio I was just a 7-8 years kid . Life was so simple and beautifull then . No worries , no time running away ... I miss those times!
The essence of the 80s is this song and those synthesized choruses and arrangements.
There's no question about it
@@silvavf9058verdadeiramente a melhor década!
I was born in '82 but I vividly remember this being played regularly on the radio as I was growing up, and absolutely LOVING it (along with their other songs) They just seemed to have such a special sound to me... ❤
its still sounds awesome after 38 years, way back from 1985!!
I..miei..più. ..bei...ricordi...Gio. ...sss....ciao...
Because it´s something about you!!!!..... Best song of Level 42!!!..... I used to sing this song to my girlfriend!!.. Now is my wife!!

I got into Level 42 whilst serving in the Army during the 80s, they’re one of or maybe even the most underrated British band, superb musicians in no matter which line up over the years. 🎼🎤🎸
Oh how I miss the 80's. Such good music around, spoilt for choice.
me2 😁
Not just the music, but the tv, the films, the innocence. My childhood...
i like 80s too
Me too
I could'nt agree more. The 80s was the best decade ever for music in my book.☺

Completely agreed, rich in production values and not made in a bedroom which is why it stand up today unlike most of the trash now. Fantastic song.
Agreed. Well put.
Matthew Charlery-Smith everything is about so called "star quality" today...
Hate the fact that I have to agree with you on this. But at least we can all agree that this is a great song
This song takes me back to the glorious 80s - what a decade ❤❤
The sound produced is lovely🎶🎶🎵🎵👍👍
RIP BOON GOULD !! YOU WERE PART OF A BRILLIANT BAND !! MAKING LOTS OF HITS IN HEAVEN!!! GODBLESS
yes the great music will live on.
i couldnt agree more rip boon gould
RIP Boon Gould, one of the most iconic songs of the 80s was "something about you". I saw Level 42 live at Wembley Arena in 1987, when this song came on the place was jumping. Why don't they make music like this anymore?
The mid 80s, a golden golden era. If you know, you know…..you can’t explain it
Level 42 had some classic singles mid 80s "Leaving me now" "Lessons in love" and this gem "Something about you" classic 😎👍.
One of the greatest classic tracks that's forgotten by many people, who've obviously never had great taste for music.
Mark King & the Level 42 band. Best ever from the 80's!
All our 70s 80s music will never die it was the best 👌
*_Há alguém aqui escutando essa música maravilhosa em 2023?_* 👏👏👏😍♥️😊👍👍👍👍👍
Com certeza oq é bom sempre será lembrado
Sempre!
🤩👏👏
Sempre , não podemos deixar essas maravilhas morrer.
Claro!
No other music will come close to this amazing decade, by far the best musicwise and I feel so damn lucky to have lived thru those years, tons of good memories that forever will be part of Me ♥
Same here even at the age of 57. Become nostalgic when I get to hear the music of 80's. I wish there are time machines to travel bck to 80's .
The current year already has far better music. 80s are still good, but nowhere near as good what we have now. (Not talking about mainstream pop)
The ever best song and clip of the band. What a perfection, from instruments to vocals. All songs of Level42 are wonderful and timeless.💎
There is something about this song that we won't forget. The fashion and the tune of music
That wandering bass of Mark King is freakin phenomenal
Thats Cheri Lunghi, i fancied her so much in the manageress. As a tune, it makes me emotional. Long story, but my uncle who was my replacement father figure introduced me to level 42 and world machine. It has an extra meaning and significance.
Reminds me of the days after school in the late 80s when we would go and choose a movie from the video library around the corner. They used to play a lot of Level 42 in the background there.
Played this track so many times as a teenager along with all the other level 42 stuff...(and still do) r.i.p. Boon.
Exactly the same story. Class.
Great band great songs great times very very sadly missed 😢😢😢😢
The divine Cherie Lunghi in the video - she is just SO gorgeous!
Esa canción fue un éxito.
I love the band Level 42. Reminds of good memory of youth! I was 22 years old at the time. Great band and great music! Oh yes!
M-Serge ALI I'm 22 and I absolutely love this song lol
Anna Brooks Haha. I've just turned 23 & I absolutely love Level 42. Tbh I love 80s music in general!
Amazing song and video,Cherie Lunghi was the icing on the cake❤️
Utter genius
yeah im looking for a video analysis in the comments! so creepy cool
Thanks for the comment! I cut it, Stuart Orme directed.
