DUDE WHAT, I'm five years older lmaoooo... I'm not thursty or anything, I just admire his mindset and maturity. He approaches the subject from the point of view of others and is just like "oh you don't know that, let me explain" in a very jolly kind of way. He doesn't act offended or anything. I'm the same and I was sometimes made to feel like I'm naive for dealing with people this way, but I think it's the best way. I find it admirable that he's like that at 17. Then again he's been confronted with stuff ever since kindergarten, imagine that.

it's a damn shame this is happening to anyone of any race. I feel like our societal constructs are so deeply ingrained/trained in us that despite being a global community now more than ever, groups of society still can't believe that someone who may not look/sound like them could still very well be part of their community. Being a third culture kid, I may not understand his personal struggles/discrimination, but I can empathize the feeling of not belonging (in either country I was born or raised in) I don't look like the country I was raised in but I sound like them yet I'm still told to go back "home". I go back to my native land and I'm told I'm not actually like them because of my accent even though I speak my mother tongue -- granted not as fluent as I used to but so what?
yes of course that kind of treatment shouldn't happen to anyone that's ridiculous to mistreat someone just because he/she is different but i just wanted to highlight the fact that him being black was the reason he suffered that much because cleary if he was mixed with white i don't think people would had been so harsh on him and that(hate towards black) doesn't just happen in korea but almost everywhere which is truly sad (i'm not sure if i expressed myself correctly but english is not my first language)

It's apparent in this video that even when Hyunmin was retelling his experiences of being discriminated because of his skin color and race, no host wanted to acknowledge it or provide serious input on the prevalent racist behaviors in their country. All the responses were empty "oohs" and "ahhs."
The topic instead concluded with the hosts admiring Hyunmin for dealing with racism "positively." It really falls flat for me. There wasn't even an attempt at educating the viewers or acknowleding that the behaviors were problematic.
For as long as no one is comfortable talking and admitting about the racism in S Korea, it will continue to have the discriminatory and racist views against POC and of other ethnicity.
(This is just my take-away of this short video clip.)

This whole vid was so corny, when are they gonna stop saying things to validate him as a "real" Korean. He's half Korean, born and raised in Korea, nothing needs to be proven.
The way a lot of Koreans see it we half Koreans are just “half” and therefore not truly Korean. In a lot of Asian countries you’re not considered [Insert Ethnicity] unless you’re 100% that ethnicity, hopefully it’ll change one day but I doubt it’ll be soon :/.
Plus Korean is a nationality. You could literally be any race but if you are born in Korea, raised in Korea, you are Korean.
Mizako 96 On paper yes, but if you’re black or white or anything other than 100% ethnically Korean and you try to tell others that you’re Korean they’ll probably laugh you out of the country. In Korea the Korean identity is directly linked to being ethnically Korean in the eyes of many, so you can be born and live in Korea all your life but if you’re not full Korean the people won’t see you that way.

When I start speaking Thai, Thai people are pretty accepting that I'm a halfie and don't try to tell me I'm not Thai. On the other hand, non-Asian Australians are always trying to tell me I'm not Australian/more Asian than Australian even though I was born here and have lived here most of my life.

Farah Putri Dania you have to be confident as a mixed race or foreign person in Korea, speaking from experience a lot of Koreans still aren’t welcoming to foreigners or half Koreans (especially if they’re Muslim or darker skinned) so you have to be able to deal with the negativity thrown at you otherwise you won’t make it there.

I don't like how the MC appraise Hyunmin telling his childhood experiences. Other people shouldn't be the one who encourage victims of bullying/rape/racism to express themselves brightly or tell them to see things in a good light. It should've been comfortable for victims to express their thoughts/feelings freely whether it's emotional or sad... And we should be thankful for them to express it.
