I got inspired to make this video after getting the new Metalhawk figure and thought it would be great if more people knew about his character!

I'm from the UK and I remember being pretty confused the first time I heard of characters like Metalhawk, Star Sabre, Deathsaurus and others, but it's so cool knowing that as much as I love a franchise there's so much more to learn. :)

@@ajerjavec4723 yeah that’s correct Jro interpreted him that way it didn’t go over that well, and Metalhawk was introduced first making a cameo in the Drift miniseries and later the beginning of phase 2, Star saber came a little later
Epic video RodimusPrimal!!! I really enjoyed the history of Metalhawk, it makes me even more excited to have his Power of the Primes, and Legacy Evolution action figures. I cannot believe how long a time it took for Metalhawk to become a popular Transformers character in the United States. lol Keep on being amazing.

I started being an adult collector in the late 90s early 2000s. I was amazed how much was available after G1 ended for me with Rebirth and my G1 Scorponok. The Japanese exclusive stuff has always interested me! Glad to see some of that start to carry over to the main line!

Thanks for making this video. Up until I saw Metalhawk, I'd only been collecting the newer screen accurate toy lines like Studio 86/legacy/core, and was only interested in the characters up until the 3rd season of the original show. After seeing Metalhawk, I had to get him though, and mine just arrived in the mail about an hour ago. This video definitely showed me that he is more than meets the eye.

I discovered Metalhawk with the Botcon set way back when. As a metalhead, I always loved the name so I got all the figures of him that came out, starting with the Botcon figure lol

Metalhawk is among my absolute favorite Transformers of all time because I sorta have a connection with him as a child. Even before I became a TF fan and started collecting them, I did remember watching the Super-God Masterforce anime from my childhood though bits and pieces as I was very, very young, but I do remember Metalhawk fondly, so I sorta have a special connection with him. I have both Titans Return Metalhawk from the Siege on Cybertron set and Power of the Primes Metalhawk and had TR Metalhawk wield his PotP one, so I am definitely getting the Legacy Evolution one real soon. I feel he has more potential still untap so I'm really hoping he'll have more bigger roles or any appearances in media.
While on the topic, I also do honestly like the Pretenders concept, taking Robots in Disguise to the next level, and I think Super-God Masterforce executed that concept really well even if it's not logically.
Pretenders in general are outside of my personal knowledge, but after learning about him, I want to buy the new Metalhawk figure. Autobot jets are drastically underrepresented.😎

Unofficially people learned of these characters through the English dub that aired on the Star TV in Asia.
I think the anime did the Pretenders right. While in human they were human sized. Then growing big in robot form. The precedent had been set with Megatron and Soundwave.

4:30 - It must have been very interesting for the UK writers when they got that fan letter from Malaysia. They likely didn't know about the Japanese exclusive TF shows at the time, so I can only imagine their confusion when they tried answering the fan's questions. At least they gave that fan an answer, but from what I could gleam from the image there was still some misunderstanding

Nice. Right after I got the figure I was inspired to make this video since not as many fans knew who he was.
Wings is the first time I met metalhawk. It was great! Until he got bodied. Lol
Recently at BotCon, the animated character got a fleshed out character and he is a cool character. He ends up giving his life to seperate a tracks/road rage hybrid and keep them separately alive.

MAsterforce is not only one the best series of the Transformers, but of all anime in general
Imo the concept of pretenders were done sm better in the TF Japanese continuity. While certainly very different, I enjoyed TF Masterforce. Loved that Cons were what inspired some monsters in history. And Metalhawk rocks. I'm a huge sucker for that noble, leader archetype.
So glad that Masterforce is getting recognition. It introduced me to a lot if characters like Minerva and God Ginrai that are cool and interesting in their own right.
Too bad Chainclaw and some of the other Autobot pretenders weren’t present in both American/United Kingdom tf media. Even Japan didn’t have all the pretenders with them

small note, due to the toy past of italy, the entirity of headmaster and masterforce was (badly) translated in italian, and the relative toys raeched the market, so the story was made more inconsistent by the presence of both the bots and the shells just floating around in europe

I'm not sure how it could be done while having quality articulation and build, but I would like to see the Pretenders done in the Masterpiece line.
I found out about this character from a video I saw on CZcams of that godmaster thing you mentioned, and it’s not dubbed, and it’s basically in Japanese, so I watched with the sound muted, and I read about on the transformers database too💁🏻♂️.
In Takara's version of Metal Hawk still tye best character ever in G1. Daiaclone toy has Pretender with robot mode my fave.
In anime Transformers Choujin Master Force my fave anime. Suit On! PRETENDAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Be frank with you, up until the recent toy, I hadn't even HEARD of the character, despite having collected since the beginning of Transformers.
I haven’t really seen any of the Japan TF shows besides the headmaster on Utube lol but I do think we can bring them in the line!
I hated how hasbro killed off bots to bring new ones in with the movie !
when they could of just sideline them or had them stationed at on another planet or something lol!

😅 Didn't think a letter I wrote nearly thirty plus years ago will get mentioned in a CZcams video. For my defense, I was about twelve or so at the time, crazy about Transformers and was confused with the different iteration of the Japanese and American (UK) Transformers. The English dub did not help either. But I still loved all the American and Japanese series.

I am glad you said leader of the Autobot Pretenders instead of leader of the Autobots because he wasn't. I feel the new toys of the Pretenders are all over the place. Metalhawk is a voyager so would the others be voyagers too? And the Decepticon ones are core and deluxe? Are they all going to get the deluxe treatment? So many questions...
Yeah the Pretenders have been all over the place as far as scale is concerned in Legacy. The inner robots could themselves be Deluxe but it makes sense for Metalhawk to be Voyager. The issue now is what about the Pretender shells?
Power of the Primes could have been something very special, but Hasbro didn´t cared
I want a series where for part of it Optimus is damaged and metalhawk is his temporary replacement

Ok this is new too me .By the time tge pretenders came out I gave up on Transformers..Yes I thought it was ridiculous..I never knew this us where metal hawke came from to me he looked like a character that Bumblebee over the years evolved too.
