This episode was how I discovered the Sams weren't lying to Mark when they told him traffic lights are called "robots" in South Africa. Makes it ten times funnier
Fatty Boom Boom music video introduced me to that one. No idea why I remembered it amongst all the chaos.
Does this mean that what they said about puppies also being called robots is true as well?
Same goes for Zimbabwe. When I moved to the UK people thought I was nuts
I was on a tram through the Northern suburbs of Melbourne many years ago and I asked a woman opposite me how far it was to a certain main road. She turned around and helpfullyt old me it was 3 robots up the road and then went back to minding her own business. Then 2 robots up the road she piped back up and said "robots are traffic lights". It turns out she was from Perth.

I had a great moment showing the Netflix South African Sam bit to a friend from South Africa, and she predicted they weren't really South African because the accents weren't correct (apparently) - she was jubilant at the reveal
I was walking to work through the middle of Hawthorn when I heard Urzila make that joke about being pulled over by a cop and I genuinely think members of the public were concerned for my sanity because I could not control my laughter

What's the lore on this? Are the South African Sams Afrikaaners themselves, or are they English blokes with thick Afrikaans accents due to their proximity with their local Boers while growing up? This distinction is key.
