Your wish is mine too. I want to be the face and voice of a "thriv-er."
@@jasperwilliams3_ Trust me Pastor Williams God Is Hoing to use you to do just that🙏🏾
As a mental health therapist, I really appreciated this episode. I think it will definitely help those who are struggling between their faith and their mental health.
God bless your work.
GOD Bless You, Dr. Jamal Bryant and Pastor Jasper Williams III. What An Amazing Podcast!
This is one of the reasons why I love my Pastors (Jasper & Alecia). Their TRANSPARENCY has always been present, and they always lead with open arms. Thank you Pastor Bryant for this broadcast and giving Rev. Williams the opportunity to shine a light on a subject that is so needed in our community.
In 1988, Bishop Paul Morton would host Pastor Jasper Williams at a Fall Revival at Greater St. Stephen FGBC. My father took me to the revival as a young college student. It was my first time at Greater and hearing Jasper Williams. I returned for Sunday service, and I have never looked back. My life changed for the better. It was the best decision of my life, and it changed the trajectory of my life. This has been THE BEST episode of your podcast since you’ve started. This is going to help so many. That Cornel West statement: “Your generation has a brand, mine had a cause.” #micdrop 🔥
As a newly mented doctor of behavioral health management, this is very encouraging. I completed my dissertation research study exploring mental health in the Black Church and Pastor Jasper’s story closely aligns with my research findings❤
Bishop Bryant, you should invite Bishop Paul Morton. Read his books, “Why Kingdoms Fall” and “The Enemy Inside Your Mind”
So much to unpack in a short session. We need a pt 2. Pastor Jasper always hits the mark.
As a mental wellness advocate, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. After being raised in a home where both parents were DEVOUT followers of Christ, with three siblings (male), all of who were affected by severe mental illness, I decided in 2016 that I'm not keeping quiet anymore. My brothers' stories did not end well. The gap between the "church" and the mental health community definitely needs to be bridged. We cannot PRAY everything away. Ask me how I know.
Pastor have mentally ill too.
I call it mental "hellness." And it is real. Stay the course sister.
He is the first to admit it that has been diagnosed but not the only one. God Bless this Pastor.🙏😊
Pray that my admission is the help that someone else needs.
This was a Wow, interview. THANK YOU!
Years ago, I found myself standing before a congregation of people. As I looked at their expressions, I sensed that something was amiss. In that moment, I couldn't help but ask myself, what could be causing this unusual atmosphere? I heard the spirit say that it pertained to mental health. The following day, it was confirmed when I discovered a mental health program on my computer from an unexpected institution. I enrolled in that program and after a few years, I successfully earned a degree in MH counseling. I kindly request your prayers as I have an important task ahead of me to assist the people of God, which I am compelled to undertake. Thank you to both preachers for your courage, compassion, affection, and thoughtfulness. Dr. Bryant, I appreciate your attentive listening demeanor, very sincere!
Dr. Bryant is the quintessential listener...keep the faith!
Great interview ! And a much needed conversation the church & the world needs to hear. Mental Health and mental illness is & will impact US all!❤🙏🏽
I remember Bishop Mason saying in a prayer I heard…cast the devil out of my mind. I do believe it’s spiritual warfare and one need to get therapy. Thank you, this is good.
I love the Courage to be naked and unashamedly blessed in a place called There. ( Mental health).
Me too. ❤❤❤❤
This was definitely a blessing. It's needed in the church.
Love this episode!!
Staying on the connection between church and mental health, Dr. Anita Phillips would be an awesome guest.
🙏🏼 🙏🏼 Amen
This generation has a brand, his generation had a Cause. Powerful!!
Few words...big facts...🙏🏾
@@jasperwilliams3_ Thank you so much for this interview. According to the comments on all social media platforms, we all learned a lot 🙌🏽🙌🏽.
The transparency of it all (in it) self is liberating. To have to wear a mask and still function and to hold himself accountable to his congregation and volunteer to seek help and admit Something is wrong Mentally encourages healing in all areas of our lives.
This was one of the best discussions I have ever seen. This is much needed for everyone especially the church. This is educational for me and to help others.
This was so good! As a PK I love this conversation and the transparency of Pastor Williams. It's all about choices! Love that you said, "This thing will not get me." This freed so many! Bless you Sir!
No failure in faith. I can relate to him when the Lord told me to leave from a city where I was blessed for almost 40 years, and it was not about anyone but me and God commissioning me to leave, even today people don't understand, it's not about them
Thank you both for sharing. I could write book on this session on all levels from being former pastor’s wife to raising kids of a pastor. I always advocated for therapy and counseling but was told “just pray”. I have watched my children struggle because of the mental health of their father and my willingness to keep our business in our house. Pastor Williams you are so correct that it shows up when you reach adulthood. Our situation even became violent and resulted in my ex going to prison. Our community needs this so desperately! Thank God for my pastor Dr. E. Dewey Smith who preached weekly and embraced my children and this allowed us to begin the healing process. Our lives are better after much work but as Pastor Williams stated, it is an ongoing process. Tears 😭 are flowing but thank you both for this wonderful session and May God continue bless you both ❤❤❤❤🙏🏾
Awesome Podcast this is something needed thank you Pastor Bryant we appreciate you ❤
This is such an informative and educational conversation. Thank you for your transparency Pastor Williams.

Thank you, Dr. Bryant for addressing this much needed conversation concerning mental health in the church. This conversation was a life spring for so many struggling with mental health. Both my sets if grandparents married at least 50 years. My uncle Paul was sent to California to live and go to school out of the 7 children. His main statement daily was "understand me"!

Lord Jesus we need this conversation in YOUR Church Thank you Pastor Jasper Williams III you are truly your Father's Son The Transparency is Phenomenal it is Helping bring Awareness to Mental Health without the Stigma
Wow and Wow!!! Incredibly amazing discussion and advocacy for mental health within our communities. This conversation was overdue and extremely necessary and it is my hope that in the future more churches can and will incorporate mental health, professional and services to support our black communities that are in desperate need.
I remember Jasper ! We went to the same college, AMC Atlanta. I remember asking him was it hard to be a PK. My mom pastored and I was an adult when she started. I despised being a PK. Jasper made it clear there was no resentment or struggle being the son of His father. He invited the class over to his home , met his mom. Great guy! I’m sure his answer to my question, now has a new perspective .
Much needed transparency. Blessings to both men of God ❤

Clear as the day is long. I ll have ice cream and wrap my arms sround myself as this moment.
My grandmother answred ne "I was silly back then sonetimes". My question why did my uncle go live with my great-grandmother, katie.
He still trying to protect his Dad. His Dad was a pastor but things happen.
Similarly I was Fisted internally though not on top so hard i scooted into headboard. He claimed he was drunk. Do jamie foxx song works, blame it on the alcohol. Not even the jasper riley jasper the group musicians.
But i let that assault go too. Ignored it because ive never been drunk nor drank a beer with him. He was mad i know i said no to allowing his ex girlfriend visit when 2 years before we got married now 6 months into the marriage i caught them already there getting off work. They claimed they were "waiting on me". I let it go where they wanted. The first time classic game night he says he invited her over i tell my friend and they said dont do it but im listening to him. The girlfriend said exactly what her intentions were when she was leaving. I adked him but of coyrse I couldnt hear past his bed of lies or itching ears from another who wasnt in the house but wanted to be wearing scrubs in hospital they met. The lady who advised not to was a highschool rival herself. Oh they get healed and reborn until the new meaning gets in the dictionary.
