Wow watching that clip, after listening to Jon Hamm goof around for a couple minutes, really made me appreciate how good his acting is. I watched MM twice; even so, Jon Hamm’s demeanor on interviews is so different that it blows my mind how incredibly good he is at portraying a very serious character.

I loved his character in mad men. I was pretty disappointed when it ended. Oh well, when one door closes, another opens. Pantsless volleyball you say ;)
Yet the ending was perfect.
I watched some of the seasons four times but only watched the last season recently, the last episode maybe month ago. I’m an editor and writer, so I had a certain appreciation for the work aspect and for what the writers were doing in building the characters apart from that. I am glad I held off on recommending it; the kind of health thing a character encounters is not far off from what my Mom’s going through. Of course, treatments are more advanced now, but it’s still... not the best prognosis. I’m glad the family member I’d have recommended it to didn’t get in it and binge it and see everything happen while going through this IRL. So many shows tend to romanticize health things and it bugs me. It’s another part of life, another stage. You just... keep going on, and your family does, until it’s over. No sweeping gestures of daring or undying love, no miracles, just... facing it. I think we need more of that in media and I’m glad it was included, even if the timing was less than ideal for me personally. I can’t help but wish two goodbyes had happened, but with that many threads, the chances that they’d tie them up how I’d like were so microscopic.
I’m actively glad the show exists, and that’s not something that’s super common for me.
