    I had one of those for 5 years, it's a great compressor. We aired up our 32" tires and later 35" tires many dozens of times, even 110 PSI RV tires. My JKUR has a built in dual ARB now ( also a great compressor ) but if I needed a portable again, it would be a Viair.

    I got a beefier Viair 400P Automatic and decided to do a test / review of it.
    I had the baby brother for years and it's great but I wanted something heavier duty to handle my bigger tires.
    I did an typical air down then air up situation then went full simulation like we had a flat and needed to get it aired up!

    I went to calibration school in the Navy years ago to calibrate very expensive electronics and meters of various sorts. Analog meters such as this, in general, are seldom accurate at their extremes...low and high. They are most accurate in their mid regions...typically.

    When inflating a completely flat tire, it’s always better to jack the tire up for faster inflation takes all the pressure off tire

    Same model as the Bushranger Max 3 . Identical in fact except the BR3 comes with digital gauge. Great compressor. Used it 100's of times in deserts and dusty mountains here in UAE.

    Nice video...Viair makes good products. I have the 88p about 4 years now. I had considered the 400 but $250 was a bit much. If I was buying now I would get the smittybuilt 2781 or similar for $165. It puts out 5.6CFM which is double the 400p and it can easily be modified to be automatic with a pressure regulator like the 400p. There are also double piston compressors that put out 10+cfm for about $220.

    • @mpcp27

      @@RobDaman .. Just for further context on that double piston compressor (10.5cfm) - the compressor is a portable one that runs off the car battery. It is marginally bigger than the smittybuilt 2781. I watched a reviewer fill all 4 of his 34" tires on his Toyota pickup. He used a 4 tire hose rig to air up all 4 tires at the same time from 10 psi to 37 psi in 5 min 20 sec.

    • @EricUdell
      @EricUdell Před 3 lety +1

      You can't go wrong with either of them, I've had both. It's nice having the built in, but it's not portable which can be an advantage. The ARB is also more $$$, but it's also a bit faster. It takes us like 12 minutes to air up four 35" tires with the ARB, including taking out and putting away the hoses and stuff. The Viair takes a bit longer, but even a minute more a tire ( a guess ) is only a difference of four minutes in the end.

    First off, I am unimpressed with the gauge on the viair. Lastly, I thought "automatic" would mean you could preset the pressure, and it would shut off automatically. Seeing that the gauge is inaccurate, this would not be perfect. I'd have to learn & memorize the offset error of the gauge to make it work if it really was automatic.

    It is kind of amazing people are still using these small battery powered compressors when you can put together a 10 lb CO2 tank system and it will blow away these portable compressors. It will be significantly faster and using a ball valve, there is no trigger to hold down zip ties or otherwise. It is not even close. Another benefit is you can use the CO2 tank to power air tool either on the trail or in your garage.

    • @RobDaman
      @RobDaman  Před 3 lety

      Well the issue was I didn't jack it up as another person suggested so that made it harder to fill possibly. Also smaller compressors usually have shorter duty cycles and CFM. This is a large tire. It makes me think about trying the same test on my smaller 88p come to think about it. 🤔

    • @LWRC
