  • I have just finished installing my HKS Supercharger kit for my Honda S2000. Wow its a decent piece of kit and the chassis more than handles the power!
    Im using AEM EMS which ive mapped myself but i will be getting it dynoed at some point in the near future. I think its probably generating around 350-380bhp at the moment with a conservative tune. Im running no restrictor and im at the limit of my 600cc injectors.
    AEM EMS v2
    600cc Deatschwerks injectors
    Genuine Walbro 255LPH pump
    OEM 10psi map sensor
    4.56 Diff with speedo corrected
    target AFR of around 11.5 at 10psi/8500rpm
    If youve got any questions then make sure you click subscribe and send me a message!
    I will try and get some on the road footage but it's difficult because this car is capable of breaking the speed limit very very easily.

    Hi man ; great video...Thinking of installing one of those to my 08 S2K ; EU model so still AP1. Would you recommend? I already have the ECU so im covered on that department...Im not looking to get more than 350whp just because i think its more than enough for s2k...Do yu think that would be possible with the standart pulley?

      @Marks-Garage  Před 8 lety

      Hi, If you fitted the fuel upgrade kit i think that puts the car around the 350bhp mark. I would recommend the kit but i think without cooling mods especially the radiator and uprated oil cooler you would run quite hot on track. On the road you are fine as long as you aren't being hard on the engine all the time. There is a great thread on the UK section of S2ki that details lots of peoples experience with this kit. I think ultimately most people have chosen to fit no restrictor and enjoy the full power of the kit. I have another video showing me giving it some high throttle.

      +Akın Söyleyen its a great piece of kit. You need a decent pump (255lph) and some 800cc injectors. Should make 350 easily

    Did you run on the flash editor at all? I wanna buy this kit but will be running the flash editor for a while

      I'm using the AEM EMS V2 ECU. I think HKS can supply a map for flash pro as part of the deal if i remember.

    question, do you track your car and have you monitored temps to see how this kit affects coolant temps since the intercooler now blocks the rad? reason i ask is from past experience with other cars when you put a front mounted intercooler ahead of the rad the coolant temps suffer more on track.

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 7 lety +1

      willix231 Great comment. I have had coolant issues after sustained high rev runs on the road as my rad was a cheap Chinese core. I have fitted a koyo today so I'm quite confident that I will be okay. The intercooler definitely effects the radiators performance as it is very thick. I'm yet to track mine but when funds allow I will take it out. I did consider converting to an aftercooler to do away with the thick intercooler but it would of cost too much

    • @willix231
      @willix231 Před 7 lety +1

      My bet is you will run into the same issue even with the koyo, ive done the same upgrade in the past on another car. while the koyo will definitely give you great headroom and more track time before you get too hot for comfort i think maybe a vented hood to help evacuate head like the ASM would be a good solution. i have no persona experience with this though

    So the only thing you bought outside the kit was the ECU, Injectors and Fuel Pump? Looks great by the way! Also do you have driving videos?

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 8 lety +1

      I'm hoping to get some driving videos but its difficult to film because its so fast and easy to incriminate yourself!. I'm going to get a go pro attached to the rear bumper and catch a video of some of the pops and bangs out of the exhaust. The kit has everything you need to fit it except the things you've listed. My set up is AEM EMS, 800cc injectors, walbro 255lph pump. Its worth fitting uprated cooling components as horse power generates heat but it works well.

      I did the same as Track nut. SC Kit, injectors and fuel pump. I am planning on doing smaller pulley soon so ill end up doing a better clutch too. Current oem one slips under hard shifting. Make sure to add an oil cooler if you are planning on tracking the car. I did one track day and temps did get hot without the cooler so i added a massive one to keep temps in check.

      +Ali Ghanizad good advice, I removed my oil cooler to fit the kit but will make sure I refit for trackdays

    Are you still running this kit? I'm toying between this and the SOS kit from the states for my track s2000 but dont want overheating issues

      @Marks-Garage  Před 4 lety

      Any kit that increase HP is going to increase Heat. Hks has been fine for me. If you go supercharged an oil cooler is a must

    Hi, are you using the 58mm restrictor, 37.5mm or 44mm?

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 6 lety

      Peter467 no restrictor. I'm using the bracket that's as big as the supercharger inlet.

    • @Pstar467
      @Pstar467 Před 6 lety

      track nut thanks! My car is in the process of getting tuned. 1050x, 98octane and f20c. We're hitting 16 pounds of boost at 8500rpm, which is much more boost than expected. Standard 120mm pulley. We're thinking of restricting the boost pressure as 16 psi is probably not a good idea for a track car.

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 6 lety

      Peter467 that's very high boost, even with smaller pulley and 8500rpm I only got 10psi. No belt slip for me either. Very strange. Unless the kit has been changed since I got it a couple of years ago

    • @Pstar467
      @Pstar467 Před 6 lety +1

      got it sorted, my car didnt have vtec engaged and for some reason that showed increased boost pressure of 16psi. vtec engaged the boost is now at 11.5psi. Thanks for your speedy replies.

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 6 lety +1

      i guess the restricted engine because of lack of vtec allowed more boost to build up. Interesting to know thou! Its made me rethink my choice of air filter as that might also act as a restrictor for my boost.

    What spark plugs are u using?

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 7 lety

      Hi,
      I have retained the standard spark plugs that Honda recommend for the S2000. You could change to a colder plug but i have had no issues with the standard plugs.

    • @leov36
      @leov36 Před 7 lety

      +track nut (Gamesman) hey thanks man. HKS recommends 2 steps colder than oem which I found strange. Your input helps. If anything I'll run just one step colder.

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 7 lety

      I think its down to personal choice, some people say chose a colder plug to prevent detonation or pinking. Im only running 11 psi at the top of the rev range and even then i have a shot of water cooling all the internals down. Im going to remove the plugs this week and will do a video showing how to do it and have a closer look at how they are faring up. They have done a great job so far when i was tuning the car initially it was overfueling alot but they never fouled up.

    @RolanTHUNDER Před 8 lety +1

    How much boost are you running now?

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 8 lety

      +RolanTHUNDER Hi thanks for the comment. It peaks at 10.4 psi at 8600rpm. You could push it to 9200rpm but I'm not bothered about pushing the limits of the supercharger or the engine. I would rather keep it all relatively safe. You can purchase a pulley that overspins the supercharger but its not worth it IMO

    • @RolanTHUNDER
      @RolanTHUNDER Před 8 lety

      +track nut (Gamesman) you're welcome man. all stock internals, correct? i am just about to own one with a Vortech supercharger installed. makes big power too. need to take her for a dyno run and tweak the tuning a bit more soon as I get her. its amazing how well a supercharger suits the F20C! with such a high power band it just keeps boosting all the way to 9000 :)
      how reliable is your setup so far?

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 8 lety

      +RolanTHUNDER 3 months untuned and given a lot of abuse. Had some small issues to start with but the charger itself has been faultless. I looked at vortech style kits but cost to import to UK was expensive compared to the HKS.

    • @RolanTHUNDER
      @RolanTHUNDER Před 8 lety

      +track nut (Gamesman) wow sounds solid even after abuse. those cars are built to perform and do so outstandingly well. the reliability of that engine and gearbox is amazing. HKS are highly respected in the racing world. good choice. I just think its odd that they opted for that type of mounting aft of the block as opposed to directly in front of it like Vortech. on the Vortech setup, you don't need to adjust the position of the ABS module or anything else really. the Vortech charger looks considerably bigger as well. does your HKS require an oil feed from the engine?

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 8 lety

      The mounting is abit too close to the exhaust for my liking but the charger itself is quite abit smaller than the vortech unit. The supercharger has its own internal oil pump and radiator that is mounted infront of the engine coolant radiator to ensure it has good air flow. I think if and when i chose to put it on track i would prefer to mount something like a mocal cooler as the one supplied is very thin and looks quite cheap. The main reason i opted for the HKS was that it seems they chose the supercharger to match the car rather than go for silly amounts of power.

    is the sc same as rotrex?

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 7 lety

      Alot of people have said its a similar to rotrex but as far as im aware the internals are different as the HKS chargers seem to have less reliability issues

    • @RK1FX
      @RK1FX Před 7 lety

      track nut so what is the most reliable sc on the market? vortech? I'm in love with the sound of it

    • @Marks-Garage
      @Marks-Garage  Před 7 lety +1

      I think the SOS one fed by engine oil seems to be the most reliable. They sound awful on idle and rattle alot but they seem to handle big boost well and you have lots of options in terms of pulleys. Not read of many failures of that type of supercharger. Downside is that inlet temperatures can get high due to the charge cooler design. I got the HKS because it was bolt on and mid power. I don't want to blow the engine.

    • @RK1FX
      @RK1FX Před 7 lety

      £3200 but then you need to add the cost of fuel pump injectors and ecu. 4500 altogether would be about right
