Regardless of Yabushige’s character and decisions during the series, i honestly enjoyed his comedic presence and personality
Same, his performance was definitely a standout, he brought alot of depth to the role.
I have enjoyed this series so very much, I’m going to miss my Tuesday Shogun fixes.
Myself already been Greiving after Marko's Death😢,specially watching the relationship they have with Anjin Blackthorn 💔 😢
Me too
Same!
Yabushige is an unconscionable sadist that boiled a man to death. For hours. Simply to see if his last words would reveal some kind of transcendental truth.
That alone was beyond unforgivable for me.
The agonize is funny like he bump his head instead to die! That so bad of him!
It's utterly mental how everyone forgets this and it's not just the audience.... The fucking Anjin forgets it too! It's so weird. I've been rooting for him getting killed since the start.
At that moment though the only thing Yabu knew about the Erasmus' crew was from the mouth of the catholic priest who was egging him on to kill Blackthorne and his crew by saying they were heretic pirates (plus in the book it also states that Yabu's father liked to boil his enemies aswell. So like father like son etc).
@@countiblis1246 That's a fairly piss poor excuse though. He didn't know they were bad. Even if DID have knowledge they were bad what he did was still monstrous. If you're a culture that executes then whatever but do it in a manner that befits being better than the thing that you allegedly hate.
I feel like everyone is so fucked up an death is everywhere that yabu becomes the dumbass jackass in this story you kind of underestimate him until you finally despise him
I am telling EVERYONE to watch Shogun!
Such a good frigging show!!! All these surprise deaths are seriously eating away at me, but it's just sooooo addicting!! I'm sure I've worried my neighbors quite a bit these past few weeks😂😂😂
the book is 1000x better
@@brendan1760 I am searching for the book on thriftbooks. Thx
I'm glad I had the privilege of watching both Shotguns the 1980 version when I was a kid to watching this newer version as an adult it's sad to see this come to an end but it was a great retelling and hopefully the other books from The Shogun universe will be turned into other shows as well
More Fuji!
This has been the best miniseries I have seen on TV, perhaps ever. Ishido is likely falling to Toranaga's sword -- I think he has to pay for Mariko's sacrifice.
Rather than a remake, I would have liked to see a Shogun II.
Shogun vs Predator vs Freddy Kruger vs Jason
Toranaga is the eight-phase posture.
The purpose of Buddhism is to "attain Buddhahood." To "become" means to attain or reach maturity. It means that what is within has finally been perfected. In other words, to become a Buddha does not mean to become something other than a human being, but to fulfill one's original human nature, which is human fulfillment. Therefore, it is not meaningless for human beings to be distressed, sad, and suffering. It is through these experiences that we become Buddhas.
In other words, life is a period of practice for human fulfillment. In order to become a Buddha, there are steps to take. It is a step toward human fulfillment. If we look at the Buddha's "steps", we can see them as "the eight phases of becoming a Buddha".
What are the eight phases?
(1) "conception," or taking birth in the mother's womb.
(2) "Birth": to be born.
(3) "Donggu" means to go out into the world. In other words, to live in society.
(4) "To be ordained" means to make an effort to solve a problem that one is not satisfied with in one's life as a member of society, or "to leave home" if one simply abandons home.
(5) "Demon" refers to those who kill the life of wisdom, and to fight against and triumph over such demons.
(6) Seisho-kwan: to attain true wisdom, to open one's eyes to the truth.
(7) "TENPORIN": to give verbal expression to the enlightenment one has attained.
(8) "entering nirvana": entering nirvana.
In the case of Buddha Shakyamuni, the above "eight phases" are what satisfied and fulfilled his life.
Looking back on our lives, if we are just born, go to school, get a job, get married, have children, build a house, and die, we are no different from dogs and cats,
(They are not the "eight phases," but the "four phases" of (1) conception, (2) birth, (3) virginity, and (4) death.
The human being's progress toward Buddhahood after "ordination" is the proof that he or she is a human being. What do we mean by "departure from the desire" or "departure from bodhicitta"? Hatsu Bodhichitta is the vow and awareness of the Buddha after ordination. There is no "attainment of Buddhahood" as an extension of the "four phases. To become a Buddha after one's death is to be lost in the four phases.
Only in "overcoming the four phases" (dying in the four phases and living in the eight phases) in the vows and awareness of becoming a Buddha after ordination, called "Hatsugan" and "Hatsugan Bodhicitta," can we speak of "attaining Buddhahood.
A life with the "eight phases" is truly the "Buddha Way," the path of human fulfillment.
What is the purpose of being born and what is the purpose of living?
Show is so good I don't want to know, just want Shogun to play out. Beautiful series.
Indeed! Im really going to miss it after its over.
Blackthorn asked Torunaga to second him but Fiji-Sama stops him
I was going to say this. The event in the books happens much earlier and for other reasons but I expect this version will be Blackthorn proving his loyalty to Toranaga, and his full turn to embracing Japan (while in this series he seemed to keep trying to leave, different than the book).
@@alatamore I agree with this comment and see JB has a limp but his eyes are ok . I wonder if Toranaga will set his ship on fire so he can never leave which is fact he stays in Japan marries has a kid and dies later in life. Also sends money to family in England
I really hope they have the main battle happen on screen rather than off screen. There is a lot to fit in to one final episode though.
only if it was a full feature film, not for a tv show
I’m guessing episode 10 will follow the book regarding any battle.
I would like a continuation because
John's prototype is William Addams, he lived for 20 years in Japan and died in 1620 at the age of 55, he had two children from a Japanese woman.
I would watch this story for sure as a spin off show
John is actually based upon 2 character William Adams and Jan Joosten van Lodensteyn.
Both were from the same ship and both were taken in by Tokugawa and were never allowed to leave Japan.
Both were also made Samurai at the same time but Adams is more famous cus the Dutch werent boasting about van Lodensteyn cus it didnt seem that important to them.
@@mrfun177 Actually, William Adams was eventually given permission by the Japanese government to return to England, but declined and remained in Japan. Jan Joosten van Lodensteyn also never returned to his native Netherlands, though unlike Adams, he did want to return home at least for a visit. However, his desire was blocked by Dutch authorities in Batavia (now called Jakarta) who refused his request to sail home to the Netherlands (he travelled in Southeast Asia representing the Tokugawa Shogunate in trade relations).
Both Adams and van Lodensteyn were believed to be instrumental in the foreign policy exclusion of Portugal and Spain by the Tokugawa Shogunate, especially that of the Catholicism. One the other hand, the Dutch being a Protestant nation, were allowed to continue trade with Japan.
@@mattsoca1 The Dutch actually did agree to let Lodensteyn return but he would never be allowed to sail again by them so he declined to return to The Netherlands.
Looking at the pacing, they can squeeze a season 2. too good not to do it
Best series ever.
They’ve been making changes from the book (so I hear) and the 1980’s series with this one, so it’s always possible that the seppuku will be a surprise. However [SPOILER alert], having seen the 1980 Shogun, I’d say it’s likely Yabushige committing seppuku with Toranaga as his second.
Blackthorn is shown frustrated, then unsheathing his short blade, then Toranaga possibly standing Second. Anything could happen, especially after John's tacit acceptance of Marino's willingness to go through with suicide in ep 9.
Why is Blackthorn always barking like a savage?
He’s isnoveracting, it disreacts
because he is a barbarian
He saw Mariko die after hooking with her once...cut him some break...
Because without the swords, he knows he could snap every single one of their primitive necks. As he could yours. Don't hate on truth.
@@thomasbarry5274 I think his actions are a modern exaggeration for the American audience. If he had shouted out loud, which he was actually incapacitated at the time, his head would have been separated from his torso on the spot.
Since this is the last episode, ep. 10 needs to be at least 2 hours long or I will revolt. 😠
it's Yabushige, after Toranaga found out who betrayed them during the night-attack at the castle, resulting in the deaths of many, including Mariku.
Im thinking it could be Yabu, if not then it could aldo be Blackthorne, based on a scene from the book we haven't seen yet
@@JeremyIceAndFire33 unfortunately they just Zip everything into the last episode, so its very possible we will see Blackthornes seppuku attempt which will be stopped, we will see Yabushiges seppuku and death, we will see glimpses of Sekigahara and Toranaga becoming shogun, all in just one episode on a very fast forward speed
@@JeremyIceAndFire33 It's in the internet already, since this is based on a novel. Unless they change it up :))
@@Amatsuichi It would have been nice if you had given a SPOILER warning!
@@manoamana67 sorry mate, I just auto-assumed everyone has seen the 1980 version or read the book :/
Seems like Yabushegi is gonna get his head chopped but Omi is begging Tora to spare his uncle
I think the plot twist here is that Mariko is secretly teaching tokugawa english XD hahahaha Let's see
*portuguese
Also not tokugawa. It’s toranaga
Well actually toranaga is playing the tokugawa @nikolotolentino
Read the book have you? 😂
I was thinking the same thing! Mario had been teaching her Lord Portuguese in order to understand his new enemies as soon as he listened to John's map explanation.❤
I'm looking forward to James Clavell's other books after the success of Shogun.
They have to figure out a way to continue this story it can't end like this lol
I will bet Anji - Sama is going to attempt to commit seppuku with Toranaga being his Second and Fuji steps in and stops Anji-Sama from doing it.
I'm worried that episode 10 feels like they're forcing the story. I wish there were at least three more episodes until Toranaga wins at Sekigahara. There may not be any scenes of the Battle of Sekigahara.
Sekigahara, Osaka winter camp, summer camp, Edo shogunate Toranaga becomes the general who conquers the barbarians.
The drama has to go this far. It was half-hearted. That requires 10 more episodes. Since the original story doesn't say that much about it, I guess they won't do it until the winner is determined at Sekigahara.
Same, the series would've had a little more time to breathe & flesh some things out had their been 13 episodes, could've even included some of the really good book scenes that didn't make it into the show.
they should make one season on the battle of Sekigahara. A lot happens before this battle
Can't wait for next Tuesday!
Unfortunately, not many people in Japan are watching this drama because there are not many Disney+ subscribers.
Despite being a great drama, it has not been talked about in Japan.
Disney+ should make more sales efforts in Japan.
Im not a big Disney + fan myself but it is also available on Hulu
@@JeremyIceAndFire33 only Disney+ in Japan🥲🥲🥲
@@JeremyIceAndFire33日本語ですいません、日本のHuluではshogun見れ無いんですよ😢
ディズニープラスのみなので確かに日本の視聴者少ないのです
In those days, swords were not the only weapons for fighting in Japan. There were 50,000 guns in Japan at the time. Finally, Tranaga and Ishidou fought for supremacy in Japan, and their combined strength was the largest in Japanese history, with both armies mobilizing 200,000 men and 25,000 guns and cannons.
I spent 5 months in Japan and Osaka Castle had these small cannons used hundreds if not a thousand years ago impressive!
I think the families will swap to torunaga as the battle gets going, as this is the last episode and no follow up series, this will fully end. Cant wait.
well.....swapping sides in battle was common :D
Hmmm to answer the question ;
My guess would be Anjin might be the one underneath Toranaga's blade
IT' S YABUSEKE..
He committed seppaku ...
we are 9 episodes in and this guy can't even pronounce it right
@@fietsbellenn9540 hahahaha SE-PAC-KOOO Did he say 2pac? hahaha
i want to see more of these people
According to the book, Yabushige will commit seppuku for betrayal
he will be ordered to do so, doenst happen on his own volition
Yabushige ordered/forced to perform seppuku toronaga is his second. Blackthorne offers seppuku thus the drawing of his tanto but is denied. My take 😄
Almost 100% Yabushigi will be executed for treason. Probably he will be granted to preform seppuku. I don't think he will be able to sneak out of trouble this time.
I doubt that Toranaga will kill his nephew. Smart guy. And he was always in conflict. I think he is loyal to Toranaga. Maybe he will even tell about Yabu's betrayal to Toranaga personally. It's a good opportunity to get higher in ranks.
Have no idea what will happen with Anjin. I hope he will get Fujiko san as wife. She is good.
And if Toranaga is the prototype of Tokugawa, then he will win the war.
Is this the end of a series? Or we can hope to have more in this story?
Will Anjin have chance to build a fleet? Will he return home?
Maybe he is not going to do so.
In Japan he is important. And their culture changed him. Europe of sixteen century is nit for him anymore. I think.
And i don't think Toranaga will let him leave. He is experienced with artillery and on the sea. Too expensive man for throwing away just like that.
The showrunners have already said that Episode 10 is the end of the book and the end of the series.
Según la historia, a John se le concedió rango de señor samurai, se le permitió tener esposa e hijos, construyo barcos, es mas nunca se le retuvo por la fuerza, el no quiso abandonar Japón, creo que Mariko tuvo mucho que ver en ello.
Bye Bye.
we need Date clan for tokugawa
Maybe we'll get the Blackthorne seppuku attempt in this episode, and that looked like Blackthorne standing behind and to the right of kneeling Omi, sooooo.....
I think it will be Blackthorne that Toranaga will be seconding as we already saw Blackthorne unsheathing his dagger
My money is on blackthorne, that’s who he is about to execute because in the earlier scene, the sword Blackthorne draws is way to short for anything else. So it’s a situation so unaliving himself to be free or pledging complete loyalty to Toranaga. If there’s one thing we’ve seen is that Toronaga is extreme persuasive and strategic/coning
They should do a prequel about Nobunaga and how it all started
Now that would be great! I actually covered some of that in a video i did on Toranaga's earlier years leading up to the events of Shōgun. This real history is even more fascinating imo.
czcams.com/video/lGnEmlHODa4/video.htmlsi=ZnlL8pokrIJdmOnR
@@JeremyIceAndFire33 during Nobunaga's time you had black samari the could do story around all that.
@jamilhk786 actually they already are. They're currently adapting Yusuke's story. Although its going to be a movie not a tv series. With the massive success of Shōgun i expect we'll see a ton of Samurai focused movies & shows coming out.
It`s a mini series, I don`t know people keep asking about a second season!
Yabushige getting his head chopped hahaha
This series is very good . They picked a great actor to portray Toranaga. He reminds me of Toshiro Mifune. That Lord Hiromatsu died, it surprised me. I wonder if Lord Yabu's outcome would be like the original. With the unexpected twists in this remake, I wonder if it is Lord Ishido being seconded by Toranaga. Just my 2 cents.
I agree but Hiroyuki Sanada is epic as Lord Toranaga- Mifune was a great Toranaga but IMO Sanada dominates the screen
Unless they do the same as the 1980 TV series and omit except for supposition the Battle Sekigahara. If EP 10 is the last one, it will be long.
The show missed the mark in developing a relationship between Toronaga and Blackthorn. For those wondering why Blackthorn has terrible rambling dialogue and constantly yells. His character development is a steep hill downwards from the other depictions. Even if this is a more POV of the Japanese, Toronaga and Blackthorn's relationship was the driving force behind every plot in the series, save a few.
Omi will live
Per the novel, Blackthorn attempts to commit suicide. That's likely the scene with Toronaga acting as someone's second. Surprised you didn't mention Blackthorn as a possibility, given the novel.
I actually did in my initial recording but changed it last minute l, I thought that could be too much of a giveaway & tried to keep the opinions contained to characters ppl might expect to see in that situation. Most ppl watching haven't read the book yet.
Yabu is hilarious but he has to go, mf opened the door for the ninjas that killed my Lady Mariko. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!
Shinobi, not "Ninja".
I think you need to rewatch some of the previous episodes, Toranaga literally sent her to Osaka to die for his "plan". Blame Toranaga.
@@AshenOneDS3 Toranaga also comments on how predictable Yabu is at the end of episode 8, he expected him to try to flip sides again. What doesn't make sense to me, Yabushige knew the Shinobi wanted to capture Mariko why did he let her suicide herself? Considering the implications of her death.
@@SagaciousNihilist Well, Yabu did tell her to get away before the explosion though and it all happened in seconds so I don't think he could've reacted quick enough to save her. And I think he probably didn't want to risk his own life to save her because Yabu's only goal from the start of the series is to survive and rule Suraga Province.
She wanted to die
Wonder if the ronin from macau help toranaga for final battle
I will be disappointed if there isn't a large-scale samurai war in the last episode.
Episode 9 finished very much the same as the 1980's series, will Blackthorn hear those words. If you're alive then act alive
Mariko left him a letter and Toranaga knows the content if my memory serves me well.
Blackthorne to be left stranded in japan is sweetened by some additional gifts.....
Yabu was trying so hard with politics. I don't believe he's afraid of death - he's just longing for power.
I agree, I dont think death scares him as much as him not being remembered after he's gone.
🔔★LIKE-SUBCRIBE-SHARE★🔔
Yabu will probably end up by boiled alive in the end
Toranaga's snitches will report Yabushige's betrayal and Toranaga will cut his head off finally.
I think is Blackthorne
It's Yabushige.
Torinaga raise his sword as a dare to Blackthorn since he pull out the blade try to do seppuku since blackthorn had sadden by Mariko death due to torinaga decision to send her to osaka.... The attire and background seem same as when blackthorn shout at torinaga
He could have been great. If only he had the courage to be loyal,
this series should be have a new season
finally a episode without mariko and john(Anjin) scene.
It’s Yabushige Toranaga is seconding
I thought Yabushige was letting in Toranaga’s men. And then he also doesn’t help John with the door…. Right when I was starting to gain some respect for him.
I did too! It took me a minute to realize what was happening. I was expecting to see toranaga walk through and that he would at some point ambush Osaka from within.
Toranaga is seconding Blackthorne...or calling his bluff of sepukku ...
Bang on about the actor Tadanobu Asano playing Yabushige. His score is just off the charts. What a delightfully horrible character to grace the screen
Phenomenal performance
i think that is Blackthorn
Even if there is theoretically a new season, it won’t be the same without Yabushige
Toranaga was a way beter ally for the church the moment he got permission to build a church in edo.
I just found out its a series finale and not season
Yea unfortunately we won't have a Season 2 most likely
Blackthorne
I really like everything about this version EXCEPT the sub-titles . The Ori series had voiceovers which were effective but if you have to look away just momentarily ...... you miss something. If this series was destined for an English speaking audience I hope the DVD version is dubbed in English as was CROUCHING TIGER ............ just sayin' .................. enjoy
Im not a big fan of dubbed myself i prefer the subtitles, it just gives it more of an authentic feel for me watching it the way it was meant to be consumed. But i might be in the minority there, i did see alot of ppl in my comments saying they weren't big fans of the subtitles. But actually the original 80s version didn't have voice over or subtitles. Unless you understood Japanese you had no idea what they were saying most of the time. It wasn't until years later that they went back & created the dubbed version after alot of complaints. Maybe they'll do something similar here & have a dubbed version available at some point.
They went out of their way to have the actors in this adaptation speak in Japanese authentic for the period. That is a key part of the beautiful historical artistic character of this work, and would be obliterated with a modern English dub.
@@24X7CARZ I seriously doubt that ..................... If this is designed for an American audience then............ guess what........... The original series was a GLOBAL hit and was in English and had voice overs.......... You are too young to remember this fact ................ just sayin' ............. enjoy
It's yabushige
Think executing Yabushige for that is the last and only honor he gets having the great toranaga be his second for seppaku.
Hello, I am using my wife's account but I remember in the original Shogun back in 1980. Yahoo gives angensan gives blackthorn his favorite special samurai sword. Kitana and he actually really likes him but he kills himself so maybe that's the whole thing here. Who knows. Very good series so far. I think the original was better though but then I go to. I know I'm 59 years old😮
The Original was Far Better and way better casting, Music and they Show how the Japanese 100% accepted Anjin San and Respected him, Plus he was made a Samurai. This Version is very Enjoyable but it missed so many opportunities and a lot of the scenes that are the same are just plain weaker, and muting Anjin and Marikos Relationship was a huge mistake.
Yabu is ordered to kill himself as there were witness to him helping the ninjas . Before doing it he makes a poem, something bout life a dream inside a dream ( title of episode). And gives to Anjin his prized swords , gifted to him by Toranaga when he signed allegiance .
We need more seasons, this is not fair. They should've made a 2-3 part movie instead. Why make a one season series?
Yea part of me wishes they would've adapted the book over the course of 2-3 seasons instead of just 1
Just watch the original series and you find out who dies and who doesn’t and or read the books they tell you who dies too
We might have a season Two I for one do not think this will end with this. So much yet to address, so much plot and buildup and too little time to complete it in one go. Which is to fight and bring stability within one episode is impossible.
But the book it is based on ends here...
The showrunners have already said that Episode 10 is the end. They are ending at the book's natural ending point.
Siht in the light of this and to safe myself from this dishonoured I'll submit to Seppuku
Liciknya toranaga mengorbankan semua orang dekatnya,
I want Ishido to die by the sword of buntato, Yambishige dies by The sword of toronaga
Would be fitting indeed, especially after Mariko.
Read the book, and those who have will know how this ended
I have, i just don't like to spoil it as most of the audience hasn't read the book.
I read Gai-jin TV series is in the works.
He's a funny guy no doubt, but Yabushige is absolutely nuts that has no business being with Toronoga.
Definitely Toranaga is taking Ishodo head off.
🥷🧨 🚪🤷🏻♀️💥💀
Yabu is so dead
I'll bet Toranaga is seconding his traitorous brother who told that humiliating story at the dinner and Toranaga tells him the truth that it took his 12 year old self many attempts before he was able to fulfill his second duties and maybe this time he'll do better...maybe.
They really ruined it by just making one season, this had so much promise, so many arcs to develope, so much storyline, and now it will all be rushed in one episode for an artificial end... very dissapointed.
Worst part of this show that after we have to return to crap writing/acting we’ve all been subjected to for years now. I HATE/LOVE the fact it’s only 10 episodes so we won’t have to see this amazing fail like GoT.
There's still some good series to look forward to. HOTD S2 right around the corner & FROM Season 3 later this year, but i get what you mean.
Maybe yabushike was not a traitor at all and the shinobis were sent by Toranaga in an attempt to frame Ishido that he tried to assasinate a noble family. Maybe he is captured by Ishido’s men in the trailer because they figured it out. That would be the ultimate plot twist
I mentioned to my husband, as we watched Episode 9 yesterday, that the weakest link in this series has been the actor portraying John Blackthorne. There's no real spark for me in his performance as it was in the 1980 miniseries and the book. He's a one-dimensional character; no depth. He doesn't add anything noteworthy in the role. I can't summon empathy for him at all. The rest of the cast are absolutely brilliant and were tailor-made for the characters they play.
My problem was there didn't seem to be much chemistry between the actors playing Blackthorne & Mariko. I wasn't getting this forbidden love vibe from them at all.
i think Yabushige is Hediaki.
if someone had told me this 10 part show is 98% drama and 2% action, i would have been very patient and wait for all 10 parts to release and watch it in one go. but since the first 4 ep built up the war thing, i was so looking forward to the "war" that is never there, i just get disappointed...it is not a bad show, it is hard to explain, but it is disappointment, because i feel like i was promised something but they never delivered.
Same here
historically thats what happened too. everyone was expecting war, tokugawa kept avoiding and biding his time, planning and preparing. all it took was one battle and the war was over. 30000 heads in one day.
Toranaga doesn't want a destructive civil war. Japan has just gotten out of that period. He is maneuvering things for one final battle to decide it all. You misunderstand, much like his son Nagakado. The war is being fought, just not on the battlefield. Since this is based on true events, we know that Toranaga wins. The story is about how Toranaga won before he even stepped foot onto the battlefield.
@timothy1949 I think some people expect a Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee type show when they watch a Japanese show taking place during the samurai era.
Twilight Samurai which won 12 Japanese "Academy Awards" including best actor for Hiroyuki Sanada and was nominated for best foreign film in the USA, had very little sword fighting. Many Americans complained that it was boring, not enough fighting!
Too much emocional and drama moments and too little samurai action. Good production though!
Yeah too much great acting and writing 😂
@Melodicroger good writing when They send a tiny Girl who havent trained for years to charge currently active soldiers? Good writing when they send a man who loves the girl and is not a trained samurai to be her second? Come on I don't space here to list so many errors. I agree plenty of good acting but a few bad too. You sound lime it is a perfect show. Have you watched he'd sopranos and breaking bad?
@@cleytoncabral8616that’s toranagas whole plan was for Mariko to make a show of trying to leave Osaka to prove to the other lords that they were in fact hostages. Blackthorne was never supposed to be Marikos 2nd but the lord she asked to be her 2nd didn’t show up so Blackthorne volunteered so Mariko would have a clean death. It’s good writing it just went over your head.
I love Breaking Bad and the Sopranos but even those shows had their issues. The Sopranos definitely dragged in the Meadow and AJ storylines. No show is perfect but Shogun is pretty damn excellent. I mean the critical and audience scores are off charts good.
BTW the guards were not trying to kill Mariko, they were repressing and defending against her. She was getting tired and flailing in the end.
@@cleytoncabral8616 She wasn't supposed to beat the soldiers. Did you even watch the episode?
And nobody sent him to be her second. The guy who was going to second her didn't show up so he tried to fill in.
The small sword that Samurai carried was not for combat, but existed solely for the purpose of committing suicide. Blackthorne draws this blade, not to fight, but to commit seppuku.
This is actually a common misconception, the Wakizashi was used for both combat & seppuku ritusls. The Katana was the Samurai's main weapon, but Wakizashi was also used for close quarter combat as well & Seppuku rituals.
Well, for example: czcams.com/video/o2xmfyZSn80/video.htmlsi=YAZ6W53C8bLwjaXr
What a waste. Vikings 6 seasons. game of thrones 8 seasons. The joke is on you.
Show is vastly overrated
DULL FINALE was a complete DUD. 📉📉📉
lack of actual fight scenes has just made this a high dollar soap opera...... just kind of meh at best.
It may just not have been for u which is fine. This is a series that relies more on interesting characters & good storytelling over cheap spectacle. It’s meant to show the audience how actual Samurai life was like in Feudal Japan. Anyone can throw together a fight scene but to create a compelling drama like this with all the intrigue of a Game of Thrones takes actual skill. Good story always trumps cheap spectacle imo.
Imagine this in IMAX !
how much the ticket would cost and how people could pause the movie for restroom break or meals in between? But yes, it would be breathtaking for this on IMAX screen.
That would be amazing!
The real person Yabushige is based upon died of old age,. He lead one of the real Toranaga's armies but was late coming to the battle of Sekigahara? The real person wasn't executed.
