    I don't know how I feel about using the undo button to "peak" at the hidden column card.

    • @garydevries5961
      @garydevries5961  Před 2 lety +6

      Using the undo button does take points away from the score. However, the other alternative is not being able to solve many games. That being said, it is perfectly okay for a player to not want to use the undo button to make the game more challenging. Thanks.

      I win games all the time. Not only does undo not work, it slows down your time which is a big factor in winning.

  • @yorocco1
    @yorocco1 Před rokem +5

    To win, you need to go very fast. Constantly clicking undo will slow you down. Also, the game doesn’t allow you to cycle through the draw pile.

      @glov433 Před rokem +4

      But on expert mode if you make the wrong decision then you're soft locked and can't solve the deck. Not saying you should rely on undo, but on harder decks "going fast" just ensures you lose fast.

    Just my opinion. But if I’m playing the harder decks of solitaire, I am trying to get the win. I don’t see using as undo as cheating. I’m trying to figure out how to solve the deck. Not add a bunch of losses to my statistics. Which is exactly what you will do if you don’t use the undo button, just my opinion.

  • @fastpace101
    @fastpace101 Před rokem +5

    So statistically 80% of decks are solvable 43% win rate if professional and without undo button on hardest difficulty. So a 80% win rate if you use undo and explore every option and a less than 43% win rate if you don't use using undo because if you're looking for tutorials you're not a pro. This was a solvable permutation but i'd like to see an unsolvable one to show every way how it wasn't. Undo is a crutch I use only after failing on a deck the first time. Just so I can see if the permutations allow me to solve or it's among the 20% not capable.

      I started at 17% for my first 1000 plus games. One viewer of this channel was in the 55 to 65% range on solving this. There are some decks that are not solvable from the beginning and others where the same card of a different suit is stacked together with the only card for underneath it making it impossible to solve as well. Even when using the undo button, some games are very hard to solve and it becomes even more of a guessing game with more ways to get it wrong. The main trick is being able to manage the early cards in the draw pile so that one has more chances or variations to potentially solve it. Thanks.

    Thanks Gary! I tried moving cards about but never focused on the undo button much... It's made me feel better though as that option can solve something which made me feel stupid at points or very frustrated. I notice it says *random decks might be unsolvable" so is it just in reference to "random" mode for the game?
    Mike :)

      As far as solving these games go I think if one was doing good they could solve over 50% (maybe up to around 60%). For my version, I was at around 17% for the first 1500 games until I started making videos and got way better. After playing about 7,000 games my percentage is at 43% (but that also includes the first batch of games where the percentage was lower). Thanks and good luck!

    What difficulty are you playing on? I have around 30% winrate on Expert but above that it often feels like I just need to be lucky. This video is a great help though, thank you so much for making it :)

      Three cards per draw. My overall win rate is at 42% after about 7,500 games. However, I was at 17% for the first 1500 games. My guess is that 50-60% is probably achievable on this.

    Thanks for the insights! I think the video would benefit if you could explain verbally the tips that you show on the left. The left panel feels kinda awkward to read while you're talking, and clicking pause and play to read brings the same problem. Anyways, liked!

    This is great but when playing timed games and games that penalize you from going your draw entire pile too much (like you have 3-4 free entire rounds)

    On hard you can't win if the cards suck since they won't let you pick the card you want from deck since the first card can't be used so no matter what i try to do I'm stuck

    • @garydevries5961
      @garydevries5961  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, many games are unsolvable. However, if one can manage the draw pile well their chances will improve. Of course, this is much easier said than done. After about 7,000 games I'm at 42% solve rate. If I had played better for the first 2,000 games it would be around 50% on this game.

      Sorry, I don’t agree. Every game is solvable, accept maybe the random games, but I never play those. I’ve played 2500 games, mostly on master level. My rate is 88% because the children have played on my account too…
      At master level, you really need to develop a different approach and most of all, don’t give up.

    • @emoreland

      Try not to put your cards on the ace stacks first. You can use those cards to catch some of the smaller cards. Like you already had both red sixes on the ace stack, so that left nothing to catch the black 5. Try to keep your ace stacks as even as possible.
