Well, summer is finally here, and I was able to start it off on the right foot! This is Republic's newest rear loader, 2023. This truck came from the City of Flint, Michigan, who recently privatized trash collection with Republic. As a result, Republic acquired the trucks and because that shop had trucks and Massilion needed a rear loader, we ended up with it. This is a conventional Peterbilt chassis with a 25 year McNeilus TAG AXLE body. Since the unit came in, several changes have been made including putting grips on it (It didn't have a tipper before) and the removal of the tag axle. Overall, It's not a bad unit. Sure beats the other stuff he was using for the alleys of Barberton. As you can see, the city has went automated, but some residents are still catching on to the concept of having to buy tags for their extras. Overall though, automation has went smoother then I definitely expected.
A big thanks goes out to the driver for making this video possible!

Yep, this truck looks different, but sharp to me. I like the grippers too, more versatile as well as cool to watch. Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks! They had one with him for a while, but since it went cart only he has been buy himself. Makes for a long day, but the route gets done. Yeah this was definitely a gem to find!!! And I agree the truck looks sharper without the axle. Never been a fan of tags on rear loaders.
The Tag Axle is my favorite of the McNeilus RLs. Plenty of them here with the tag removed, but they always left the big fender on the tailgate. Looks much better with it removed! The Pete cab looks stunning. Must suck to do that route alone, great vid!
Wow! This is the first time I've ever seen a real live Yetti in focus.
Nice! Never seen an former Tag axle RL before! Nice work!
Very sharp looking rig indeed!! It makes for a long day, but it is a smaller route and this is what they have to use. Fortunately for him this is a smaller route since he only does the alleys and then runs around picking up if they call him for a sticker. Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video!! Prior to this truck coming in, he drove a different truck all three days. 2014 Monday, 2012 Tuesday, and 2002 Wed.
Hey! Gtrucks56 here, great footage love the rear load action, you do a great job! Keep it up
Yeah, beast is about the perfect word for this truck! Nice truck too. I was thinking the same thing. When I heard about this truck, I was expecting a Vegas style setup rather than all red. One man makes for a long day, but fortunately he only does the alleys so his route isnt too big. Yeah, bout time we got a decent rear loader. All the ones we have are dying. Another one bit the dust just last week. Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video bro! And yep, looks great WITHOUT the tag
Great job! I feel for the driver, they should have a second person on that truck, I know it's not fun climbing in and out of that cab all day long. As for the truck, what a great catch! Definitely don't see many Pete's (conventional) as rear loaders. I really like that McNeilus withOUT the ugly tag axle.
Thanks man!!!! Glad you enjoyed it! Personally I like em cause they are much more flexible then a conventional tipper.
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks!!! As of now, I'm planing on going tues and fri
First thought that came to mind.... WOW that truck is ORANGE!!! Republic scores on another city with an... odd paint scheme.
Very good video. I like the grippers instead of the tipper, idk seems more entertaining to me.
Yeah I was surprised as well, they must have felt it didn't need it. As fond as I am of the blue, I must agree, the red makes for a nice change.
Awesome video and rear loader republic services old rear loader collecting trash man right on man
Thanks! I've heard some of the same things. I believe this is the only flint video on here.
Yep, he takes what he has and gets it done. At least now he has a decent truck to work with compared to his old junk. Personally I like these tippers, much more versatile than a hook tipper.
Personally I like the Allied blue, but this was sure a good looking truck. Thanks!
The truck came from flint in red never got painted. Our rear load situation was pretty sparse and we needed it on the job asap hence red truck.
Yeah I think it's a pretty good body myself. I'm so glad they removed the whole tag setup, they look HIDEOUS without the wheel in there. And yeah, this pete cab looks awesome!!! It makes for a long day to get the route done, but he only does the alleys, so fortunately it is a smaller route. Would be horrifying if it was 850 stops like the side load routes are!!
Yep, sure is a nice ride! It might not be fuel efficient, but I'm sure its cheaper then paying a helper.
Wow! This driver works with what hes got really well! The high cabs on 1 man routes are just time consuming. I dont really like these gripper tippers, compared to a hook tipper. Why did they remove the tag axle? Very well done to you and to the driver! Almost reminds me of my recycle guy!
Awesome! I read that Flint is pretty happy with Republic. Detroit is looking to go private and has talked with WM and Republic. I think your the first user to post an ex-Flint truck on here.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video! Yep, me neither!
haha the guys at the shop actually call him that
haha Thanks! will do!
I loved the video I like how this red truck was put on this route getting the blue carts I want to see more videos of the red trucks
Kimberlee Brysch I would like to get another video, but the float them around and are hard to catch.
I drive rear load a couple days but mostly front load curroto LE.
What day was this filmed? nice video.
Sure did! Well, that is true! lol
They probably removed it due to weight laws. Michigan has very high limits on how much trucks can weigh; Ohio maybe couldn't tolerate the four axles on a RL.
What is the thing that sticks out on the front?
hahaha! What was the question, I glanced over and didn't see it... Flint's fleet was red, and Republic never had time to repaint this one.
AWESOME find!!!!!! That tipper has no grip! I'm not a fan of these. I dont even call them tippers.
Nice Job! Will summer uploads be every other day (like last year) or tue and fri?
Nice truck but it must be very inefficient on fuel the way the engine is set to medium speed while the guy walks from the front to to the back to fetch the bin.

You are to me like a drug dealer is to an addict! LOL Love, love, love watching the videos! How do you know soooo much about all the equipment?
I am suppose to have a helper as promised to me by the company. But there promises do not hold much weight.
I think they told me the truck was rated for 78,000 and its only a 25 yard. Flint used to use it to pick up yard waste on the routes. They do the one man rearload because they are not very good at what they do as far as common sense and managing skills.
Hola peque
this dude looks like a sasquatch.
