Air Fryer Fried Chicken Ingredients
2lbs of Chicken Legs (ABOUT 6)
2 TSP of Sea Salt
1 TSP of Black Pepper
1 TSP of Smoked Paprika
1 TSP of Garlic Powder
1 TSP of Onion Powder
1 CUP of Self-raising Flour
2 Eggs
1/4 Cup of Water
2 TBS of Milk (or buttermilk)
1 TBS of Hot Sauce (I used Frank's)
2 TBS of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mix all the dry ingredients, place 1 TBS in a container and rub the legs with it.
Put the rest in the Flour.
Work the chicken first in the Flour with spices, wait 5 minutes.
In another container, place the 2 eggs with water, milk, and hot sauce. Mix it well.
Place the legs in the egg wash and in the flour next. Shake the excess of egg or flour every step.
Turn your Air Fryer on and preheat for 15 minutes at 380F while the Air Fryer Chicken starts to absorb the coating.
Cook the legs at 380F for 15 minutes and finish the cooking for another 2-3 minutes at 400F for extra crispiness.
In the Cosori Air Fryer 5.8qt I placed 3 legs. Brush the chicken with olive oil. Flip halfway through and brush it again.

About this Video:
In this video, The Air Fryer Geek, will show you how to make juicy, crispy, and delicious Air Fryer Fried Chicken. Many Air Fryer users find it difficult to cook Fried Chicken in the Air Fryer because the end result is mushy, the coating doesn't stay on the chicken or it cracks too much. With a few tricks, you can make Air Fryer Fried Chicken that tastes very similar to the Deep Fried Chicken with less mess and less oil.

I've tried many ways to make this and yours works best. I cut back on the salt a bit and used Chinese chili/garlic sauce instead of the hot sauce because it was what I had. I had to cook it 22 minutes + 3 rather than 15 because of other chicken parts. But it was every bit as crunchy as fried. Thank you!
Fantastic!
It's called seasoning not salt that's why you don't get the same flavor!!
L
@@TheAirFryerGeek so the key is rubbing cooking oil on. Never tried... I heard spraying works to but this is way better. I had 2 disasters and quit. You gave me hope again. Thanks
@@deandreadams6739 Salt is a mineral and is called salt. Seasonings are plant materials grown in the earth. Pepper, basil, rosemary and etc. are all plants. Salt is on its own.
I’ve tried other air fried chicken recipes using bread crumbs, corn meal, etc… This is the ticket! I altered the seasoning a bit (I used Old Bay, Chile powder, garlic, and onion powder) and didn’t use as much salt, but the self rising flour, egg wash, flour, and oil sequence gave me a nice crispy coating that didn’t crumble and fall off while I was eating. The Frank’s hot sauce in the egg wash was a nice touch also. Thanks for posting this.
Amazing!!
Excellent recipe! Tried it tonight and was loved!
Why didn't he cut into it.? That's the money shot to show ultimate success with the recipe. I still may try it.
thank you so much for this 😻 merci from france 🇫🇷
Wow that sure looks good. I will give it a try right now.
The chicken looks delicious. Will definitely try this recipe. Thanks.
Just found you on CZcams and you did a great job, THANK YOU Also very well done on listing the ingredients and steps in your notes. Wish all the other recipe posters would do as well as you.
🙏🙏🙏🙏
LooKs so good and crunchy!! Think I'm going to try this recipe for dinndr! Thanks for sharing!
This is soooo good! I did it without the hot sauce and it’s killer.
Thank you, this looks like a winner! I am going to try it today.
This is the best one I've seen and will try it
Good many steps but I’ll try it. Thank you.
I just made the chicken for dinner. It was DELICIOUS 😋 I will be making it again for sure. Crispy and juicy.
Me and my wife stop eating fried food but swear to god we really miss it so I got her a air fryer she want fried chicken so CZcams and found your recipe and I only got 4 words for you and dat’s happy wife happy life thank you
🙌
Look great. Thank you.
You can crowd chicken it shrinks a lot and turns out great 👍🏻
The chicken looks amazing 👏
New fan here. Looking forward to this recipe.
Made this tonight using chicken wings… freaking delicious! well done mate, thanks for sharing… cheers ❤
Just did it. It is marvelous 🍗🍗
I tried your recipe exactly as you stated. I did back off the salt due to high blood pressure. When the chicken was done it still had flour on it. I tried wiping the flour off but the crust was coming off. I felt the chicken tasted ok but I was not blown away by the taste. I don't know what I did wrong but I won't try this particular recipe again. I'll keep watching chicken videos until I find one I feel brave enough to try.
That looks so good thank you for sharing your recipe
Thanks for visiting
I made too .. love from srilanka 🇱🇰
Thx so much gona try it in my new 7.7 air fryer 👌
I'm not one to make a recipe that has more than 2 steps but I made this and it was sooooo worth it and so unbelievably good! I have the same air fryer as in this video (Cosori 5.8qt) and put 7 legs in which made for a tight fit. You're right about using fewer because when I flipped them over I lost some of the breading. Would it be ok to use an olive oil sprayer instead of brushing? Thank you for sharing this and showing all the steps with the commentary, it really helped!
David Adams, I cannot see why you couldn't use an Olive oil sprayer!
You could also spray the finishing oil on the chicken instead of brushing.
I just got a new air fryier and cooked spicy chicken in it but I used butter and hot sauce marinade over night.. and a flour herb spice mix and 25min at 180c but I used thighs on the bone and drum sticks and omg it was yummo.
Very nice healthy recipe 👍👍👍👍👍
I love my air fryer and even have one in my van. I have a keto hack recipe with minimal ingredients that's good enough for me. I buy a bag of cheap drumsticks with skin from Walmart. I wing cut the meat on each side of the bone and generously season it with Badia Garlic Pepper and Badia Smoked Paprika and then coat it with Ground Flaxseed.
Omgoshhhh tried it and it's Amazing, came out good. First time frying something without alot of oil
Great 👍
Hi Air Fryer Geek. The second thing I every made in my new air fryer was your fried chicken. It was absolutely delicious. Thank you for this recipe.
Thank you!!!
Great idea awesome
Thanks for that did not know it could be done in frìer good chef Thanks
Thank you!
Wow! I can’t wait to try this:) Thank you! I love your accent:))))
Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing
Thank you for watching!
Lovely 😋 😋 😋
Not clear on cooking time first time he put in for 15 min at 380•f then he turned over with the tongs then he set aside so when you flip the legs do you put them back I the fryer to cook some more ? and if so same temp ? and for how long?
Yum and followed
trying this tonight it looks so good
Let me know if you try! 😀
@@TheAirFryerGeek is was so delicious almost taste like KFC 😆 🤣
Was curious about differences between what I’ve done and your way. I’ve seen corn starch used in many air fryer chicken recipes. So I’ve coated chicken with some vinegar/lemon juice and add your spices here. Then coat with corn starch followed by extra virgin olive spying bottle (obviously not air can as damage your air fryer) to spray the chicken on all sides.
The whole thing with everything else with your egg and flour just seems to add a lot of prep complexity and cleanup.
Mmm my favorite
The vinegar in the hot sauce converts the milk. All you need is vinegar ( or lemon juice) to turn milk into buttermilk
Where is the list of the ingredients?
I don’t see anything under the movie, and I would love to try it
Thank you for sharing look yummy
Thanks for watching!
Yummy!
🤤
Great
I just purchased Ninja Foodi Grill. This channel is wonderful. I followed your channel. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!!!
Looks delicious thanks for sharing 👍
I just got an air fryer I will most certainly try this recipe 😋
Thank you for watching! If you just bought an Air Fryer I recommend you watching czcams.com/video/Q-UCX7J1QOM/video.html

super nice great video hardworking
Thanks!!!
He did list the ingredients AND directions below the video. All you have to do is click on "Show More".
looks sooo good :)
Thanks
I was taken to your video this morning as I have been thinking of getting an air fryer for 2. You give good cooking instructions and your (Italian?) accent gives extra umph to it. Happy cooking! 🙏
yep Italian :) Thank you!!!
buy a bigger one you cant get enough in a small one
Thanks
Did you prepare 2 portions of rub? One for the chicken and the other for the flour?
Alright guys
This man describing how to make crunchy chicken is turning me on ...my goodness gracious ❤️❤️ thank you for the visual and fantasy Iv apparently just experienced...not a joke
Hmmm.. think I'll give this a go next time I try making fried chicken.
I did notice that you didn't use the "wet hand, dry hand" method when coating the chicken. Also you didn't indicate for how long you cooked the chicken after you flipped it over.
Dont need wer hand dry hand when wearing gloves.
@@sylviaivie7047 it's more a case of getting the coating on the chicken and less on your fingers whether encased in gloves or not.
👍👍👍
Make some crispy breaded fish fillet please.
Made me hungry.
That’s the goal
@@TheAirFryerGeek A follow up. Just eat 2 legs & 2 wings and darn it, I have to leave the rest for other people. Ha
Can i dip it in the egg wash then the flour? or does it make a difference.
❤❤
Good video thank you.
I thought these fryers were cheaper than a coventional oven?
Two cooks of the legs, as not enough room for enough for a family. Plus 15 minutes heating up time. That's before you start cooking any accompaniments.
I guess you keep them all hot in the oven while your waiting on the second cook.
Alternatively you could do it all in the oven.
I guess I was looking too much at the electricity issue.
Jim Scott, 🤣😂 you made some good points! I think that one has to really think b4 buying an Air fryer, as the fryer capacity matters! We have a deep fryer but I cannot stand the smell of the sizzling oil, so for some things, our Air fryer is indispensable.
Cool video! Thanks for the tips. Do you think it could work with a skinless chicken breast?
I think it should be fine with skinless chicken breast. I am going to try that soon!
Preheat, then take it out and let it all cool down, then add chicken, check.
Looks good though
@@TheAirFryerGeek Awesome. I'd love to know how it turns out! It would be neat to see you tackle falafal too!
I will do it soon! Thanks for the suggestion!
noooooo breast meat is too dry boneless thigh meat is better
The sound broke up when you were talking about how to make self rising flour. I missed it and I listened three times. What were the ingredients?
I want to try your fried chicken but I need the recipe in writing can't remember all the ingred ants by just listening . and it looks so good
Where can I get some ingred ants
@@floydland3509 From the "ingred ant-farm" of course!
Did you brush oil on both sides?
It's better if you put the chicken and the seasoning in a zip lock bag and then seal it and shake it up really well that allows the chicken to get more evenly seasoned as easier and faster hey you don't have to dirty up with bowl do it
👌🥰🙏
Was 1 Tbsp of mix enough to season all five raw pieces of drum sticks? Thanks
hey guys, what is the rub he is using for the chicken wings, because i did not see a name anywhere?
What’s the point of heating up for 15 minutes when the draw is out of the air fryer for so long so effectively will only be warm.
You are heating the inside of the air fryer, the grate, and jump start the cooking to avoid sogginess. You can run a test between starting cold va preheating and will see a difference. I will probably make a video about it! 😜
Can you make some Vegan chicken next?
.looks delicious. Please send me the recipe. Thanks
Thank you!
I like that you have a Human Anatomy text in the background.
Am I the only one who thought the picture of the chicken was the picture of a big explosion? 🤣
Explosion of flavor! 😂
If you want fried chicken then put it in a deep fryer. There is no equal. Yes air fryers are good for using less oil but you will never get the equal of deep fried crispy chicken without using a deep fryer. Weather permitting we use the deep fryer outside on the patio but during the winter we do use the air fryer and wait for the spring to get cooking back outside. The number of times we use the deep fryer will not hurt our health or yours.
Yes but not everyone wants to use Oil for deep frying. I would never use it. Also why should a Chicken Leg be crispy? You probably mean the skin....and despite many people wanting to fry me possible for it...I don't eat the chicken skin...so no crispiness required at all...
John Davidson, sorry but I disagree with you on your assertion of...'deep frying won't affect your health'! If one eats deep fried food regularly, it will definitely affect the arteries, heart & cardiovascular system! No thanks.
There is nothing southern about this guy, but it does look good. Would have been nice to see you bite into one and show the look of finished meat and show what brand of fryer your using, other than that looks good
There is a lot of southern in me…southern Italian! 😂 you can see in my channel my favorite Air Fryers here for example: czcams.com/video/Q-UCX7J1QOM/video.html
yes Paul youre right he didnt show the cookness inside the chicken which is important and 15 mins is too short of time to fully have fried chicken done right
Try a second dip of egg and the batter mix.
The egg mixture works better without the yoke.
This looks interesting but I couldn’t be bothered trying the recipe because I haven’t a clue about the measurements! Cups, spoons and pounds don’t make any sense to me. I’ve loads of different size cups and spoons 🤷🏼♂️
My mom always said measurements by guess and by golly. Never measured anything just eyeballed it.
I got a little lost. Is the chicken cooked 15 minutes total and you turn it over at half time? Or 15 mins one side and then turn it and cook for?
Total time 15 minutes, check always internal temperature!
@@TheAirFryerGeek Thanks, looks fantastic. I want to try this.
I would just spray , not use a brush to coat with oil.
🙏🙏🙏🙏👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Klets majoor.
why airfrier should be always preheated before?
eat one cut it open lets hear the crunch!!!
I have an idea. For those who need the ingredients written down: Every time you hear an ingredient, pause the video, write it down, and continue doing this until you have written all of them down! 😁
Just click "Show More" below the video and the recipes AND directions are already there. You can even print them if you copy & paste into a text document like Word or something.
Go down to Kentucky Fried Chicken and buy your chicken!
It only takes a few minutes and no mess!
What air fryer u use?
This one is one of my favorite -> czcams.com/video/6yBUE4jaaEk/video.html
Show us the air fryer cooking bruuh
Just need a pices air fryer liner paper, doble side silicone oil paper
It looks raw
"Creespee cheeken"
How much flour please
what is talking powder?
the one I use for speaking in English! :)
Need the amt of seasoning. Went to fast how how much ingredients needed
It is supposed to be healthier than frying but you still use a lot of oil to cook the chicken.
