My air 3 comes this week, I’m coming from a original mini 1 , and still have a air 2S but I just bought it couple weeks ago and I’m still within my return policy so I will compare this week but from what I see already on reviews I’ll probably still will be returning the air2S. . I was hoping you were doing some Air 3 reviews for us.
I'm waiting on my Air 3 I ordered Wed morning so gotta wait til Monday, coming from the Air 2 this is a HUGE upgrade!!
You should return that Air 2s!
A3 battery life and obstacle avoidance is insane, plus 2 cameras😲
Absolutely 💪
I think you will love the obstacle avoidance and twin cameras 🤯
Enjoy 😊
@@xavier_arthur Thanks… I got the Fly More Combo A3 with RC 2. Wondering will the Remote withe screen have more advantages, I’ve always had a remote with no screen so that will be new for me too.
Thanks for the great video. I am upgrading from the good old Air 2. I have a Mini 3 pro and like it except for being stable especially in the wind. That's what the Air 2 was for. My new Air 3 should be here Monday and it should be fun to take it through it's paces.
Different sensor technology Xavier an O4 is definitely a marked improvement. The RC2 is so much better than the original. Loving it!
No doubt, It's a solid deal for the price 💪
Thanks for this very informative video! I’m looking forward to your future videos as well as these are very well explained 👍
The sensor on the Air 3, although the same size as the Mini 3 Pro, is a totally different sensor. It is a stacked, backlit , sensor. Significantly better.
It's the same sensor, OV48C
No way physically it can beat the A2S 20mp 1” CMOS sensor camera.
@@ronjoseph7973 if you look at the comparison videos it destroys air 2s
Exactly, crazy how youtubers dare speak about stuff they didn’t research.. makes me mad, we clearly see the big difference with the air 3. And no more crop when shooting 4K. That’s a big plus.
Thanx for the video. You have very kind face and soft voice and I always enjoy watching you.
Purchased the Mavic Air 3 the day after release & Iove it! Glad I didn’t wait for the 3s! Battery life alone is enough but the zoom function is really fantastic!!!
Great video , gave us something to think about.
You might have underestimated the sensor. Drone youtubers who actually have the drone are raving about the image quality. No way DJI was gonna give you a downgrade in image quality over the Air 2s regardless of the smaller sensor. I had the Air 2s and sold it because of it's 17 minute real world flight time. When are you going to purchase and test the Air 3 so you can answer the many questions you posed in the video? Cheers.
Wow man this is really cool I love it.😃👍❤️
True and accurate comparison. Just the way it should be. Thanks Xavier🙏
MA2 Form factor(size/weight) was perfection. Was still just small and light enough with a couple batteries that it was easily transported in a backpack already laden with other electronics, and would still fit under an airline seat. I’ll continue to make due with the mini(nano+). Also irritated that the MA2 wasn’t added to RID.
Ha! I was just thinking nobody is comparing this to the nano+ and that’s what I have. I bought the air 3 to try out the 2 cameras and some of the better tracking and object avoidance. The waypoints and extended flight time is huge too. I’m keeping my nano+ for an additional option. (Had a flyaway and crash already w nano+)
Very, very true words! Thank you very much... ❤
il wait for the a3s
Thanks for sharing! I ask DJI customer service about Air 3 compatibility with RC Pro and they don’t have 100% confirmation, but maybe later RC Pro can support latest O4 drones including Air 3 after firmware and DJI Fly updates if available. Otherwise, DJI should release RC Pro 2 with O4 support.
It's not the same sensor, it's a new backlit, stacked sensor, brings in far more light.
The only thing putting me off is the FOV. The Air 3 has the same 82 degree FOV as the mini 3 as the Air 2s has 88 degrees. I don't think the Air 3 is an upgrade to the air 2s. I think it is more of a side grade. meaning it has pros and cons.
Good point
But the Air 3 is definitely a massive upgrade from Air 2!
Hopefully Air 3s will have a 88 fov too 🤞
Definitely waiting for the “Air 3 s” ya dig
Very informative video!
Thank you to compared to the Air 2.
That gives me more motivation to wait until the Air3s/Pro (I have the Air 2S)
Yo X i agree with what you said early on in the vid. "When OcuSync first came out, that was mind blowing because everything back then was flying wifi and thar is a pain". My first drone was the Mavic Mini 1 which guess what....used Enhanced Wifi 5.8 Ghz. I couldn't fly too far out or at times would get stuttery video even when flying straight up because i was in a wifi congested area. When i took the jump up to the M3 Standard thats on OcuSync 3.0 i was freaken blown away as i could fly further and had solid video down to my phone on my RC-N1
I’ll still fly my MA2 & MNI2. I would have to get the SC as well
Ascent and (more important!) descend speeds are just mindblowing! Imagine what this drone is capable of, if height limit removed. I already have Air2s with removed height limit, and high altitude shots are pretty awesome, but with it's limited flight time, I fear to push it higher than 1,5-2km.
They should have put this out first and then put the Mavic 3 pro out (with occusync 4) because now it feels really weird that the flagship top of the range drone, the 3 pro, which has only been out a couple months is now top on older system.
I have been considering the Mavic 3 pro but don’t know now if this is a better option.
I would love to see a side by side with the Air 2S. I feel the Mavic 3 Classic pricing is close to the Air 2 and size. The form factor of the MA2 and MA2s were perfect. I'm really liking the MIni 3 Pro with the RC Remote. Like all new drones, give it time to send firmware updates.
I hear you
My Air 3 combo with the RC 2 came yesterday yet to try it out but since it has 3 frequency bands supposedly although I only saw 2 appearing on the transmission menu (2.4ghz,5ghz, dual maybe it means 5 to 5.8ghz which includes the new 5.1ghz who can tell) when checking it out in house, it probably means that it has a hardware difference which can’t be updated by firmware for RC Pro depending on what type of chips are used in it. I sold my Mini 2 and Air 2 which did not work with RC Pro anyway but kept my Air 2s and Mavic 3 especially as Mavic 3 has C1 certification available for EU use and now this Air 3 has the C1 certification stickers on it out of the box. No big deal in US but for EU it makes a difference. But Although that 5.1ghz band is an addition on the new RC 2 it still has the same two bands that the RC Pro has so you would think that it could be made backward compatible with the Mavic 3s, Air 2s and Mini 3s so who knows, I asked a DJI service person, they told me it would not work with the previous models but then they are not the technical staff and maybe DJI will decide later how to play the matter?
I have a dji mavic 3 classic. I bought it two months ago and the air 3 liked it. But I will wait for the other versions to be released. Two versions can be downloaded, such as the mavic 3
Very well thought out. I'm going to keep my Mini 3 Pro, my Air 2S, and my Autel Evo 2 Pro. I'll wait to see what the Air 3S and the Mavic 4 Pro have to offer.
Please do the comparison with the Air 2S.
I already have the Mavic 3 and the Min3 Pro. Sold my MA2 with a smart today ordering the Air3 now.
I'm saving you from pulling your hair off 6 months later! 😆Wait for the Dji Air 3 Pro. I said this more than 2 weeks ago, when the leaks confirmed that the Air 3 will come with a dual 1/1.3 sensor. PS. Dji is dropping the S version.
I agree with you on compatible... higher version must be just the computer. That's just my understanding.
This exactly why i'm holding off for Mavic 3 Pro as long as possible. Last thing I want to do is purchase and then they release Occusync 4 for RC PRO
Hi do you know yet whether the DJI Goggles 2 will work with the new Air 3 with it being 04 technology ?
Good question!
I don't know!
I think the sensor is different even though it is the same size. Something about double layer vs. single layer.... watched a video by 51 Drones.....
I'M GOING TO WAIT FOR THE AIR 4X ........................ 😂 🤣 😂
I'm curious, since Mavic 3 Pro came out first and it uses both older controllers, if this new controller is not backwards compatible to current Mini or Mavic series wouldn't DJI have to update older drones firmware or replace all older Mavic and Mini series with new models?
Older Mavic and Mini series will be replaced, as in they get a newer model with newer features. Like anything else, new features comes as they release new product. They can not all be backward compatible, or it would have been released with the last release...
New Models to Come!😎
If I had the money, I’d upgrade to this one or the Air 3s. However, I’ve put down a lot into the Air 2 (which I got only because my Spark was caught in a tree)- not just the drone itself but all sorts of accessories (lights, case, anamorphic lenses, etc.) I think I’ll wait until I either have enough money to upgrade or the price of this one goes down.
Thank you for this video. Pure content. I'm definitely waiting for the arrival of the Air3S or M4P. I have an M3P and am very happy with it. However, a better camera would be fine and I expect the Air3S will have an even better camera than the Air3. I'm waiting for that. Another option would be the M4P - but there is still no reliable information on the specifications.
Looking forward to the comparison vs the Air 2s, Mavic 3 pro, and Air 3.
The the mini 3 pro sensor also stacked ?
I'm hearing that from one CZcamsr but I don't know for sure 🤷
going to wait till the Air 3s/pro , I reckon 9-12 months from now
Lightbridge is still awesome
When I powered on my RC Pro the day they officially released the Air 3 I got an update on my RC Pro saying it was for compatibility with the Air 3. Did you not get the update?
I did get an update but not for Air 3, check out all the RC pro updates from DJI here: forum.dji.com/thread-278423-1-1.html
It says nothing about Air 3 compatibility!
I just got it and tested this morning, OC4 penetrates better than OC3
It Better!!!!
Wonderful, rational, clear overview of what’s new and how to evaluate if it matters! Thanks!
I would like to see a Air2S vs Air 3 review
The Air 3 definitely doesn’t have the same camera as the Mini 3 Pro. Same size sensor yes, but the Air 3 has a stacked sensor which performs way better.
@droneXfactor You mentioned the Air 3s. Have you heard any Air 3s rumors? For some reason, I feel like there won't be one but of course, I have no idea.
I think the 2s was to get the air 2 out of the Mavic moniker as well as get it up to speed with the other tech DJI had at the time. I just don’t see it but like you what do I know haha
@@Andyrewk Yeah, I don't think there will be one but I really want there to be because I want to buy the Air 3 but not with a 12mp / Fake 48mp camera. An Air 3s with 20mp cameras would be perfect but I don't think there is space for it within the price areas.
Supposedly the RC pro is getting an update soon, so is the word on the DJI street.
I am still loving the Air 2S. The Air 3 has definite advantages for some but for the Average flyer, if they have the Air 2S my money says stick with it.
My new Air 3 is on its way back to DJI with a major issue it’s had since it’s first flight. Huge banking angle and lateral movement with the slightest of input on the stick. Even in Cine mode with the rates so low as to be barely available. The maiden almost ended in a catastrophic disaster. DJI have been VERY quick in getting a replacement ready for when mine actually arrives back at their Dutch site. (I’m in Scotland)
Still did manage half an hour or so flights and have to say the video quality is unreal.
Hurry up DJI!!!!!
Sensor set to brake vs bypassing effects the speed
I already have a Mini 3 Pro with RC controller. I was waiting for Air 3 to upgrade. Very disappointed that this controller is not compatible with Air 3. Abandoned the idea presently.
What? It's a back side illuminated STACKED SENSOR. It is not "the same as the Mini 3". Also, O4 is a huge improvement over standard O3, like on the Air 2s and a decent gain on O3+ like on the Mavic 3. The damn RC Pro updates are already rolling out to make it compatible. Geez Xavier... I'm disappointed.
Huge improvement means, I could never go back!
Since the original ocusync I never really had many complaints!
When I looked at DC rainmakers Video, he said he spoke with DJI and they told him it was the same sensor from the Mini 3 (which produces a very good image quality) with better algorithms and modifications.
So I've been hearing about the backside illumination and stacked sensor but I haven't seen DJI release a statement confirming that yet!
Apart from that, you know Air3s is coming with a bigger sensor!
Even if compatibility with the RC Pro comes out, it will be limited at 03, and we will be missing out on that huge 04 upgrade as you call it!
Don't be disappointed, keep it rational.
When DJI releases anything new and groundbreaking, better believe it will have a new name 🤫
For example Wi-Fi to lightbridge, then ocusync to.............
Air 3 is a great drone, and I did highly recommend it 💪
But you know the innovation never stops, and if you look at my fleet, I'm not a first iteration type of person, I never liked and kept the original mavic 3, but I do love the pro!
I never kept the original Air 2, but I did love and keep the Air 2s, as I'm sure, I will love the A3s and we'll have all the extra benefits like 04 to look forward to with a better camera 😃
#innovationneverstops
@droneXfactor Hey, I'm telling you it's a stacked sensor! Hahaha! Don't get me started on DC Rainmaker- stupid name for a channel BTW, he should have stuck to bicycles. The Air3s is a dream but I agree it's possible. However, let me remind you how everyone was claiming there was going to be a Mavic 3S... Obviously, there might be an Air 3 Pro next year and if you already have a bunch of drones, you might want to wait. However, if you keep the mind set that you're waiting because another new drone might come out, you'll never buy anything. There will always be a next drone... Wait until you see the Mavic 4!
I always had the mavic 2 Pro not the mavic 2 zoom
I have the Mini 3 Pro not the Mini 3
I have the mavic 3 Pro not the mavic 3 or classic.
I had the Air 2s not the Air 2.
And I'll have the Air 3s / Pro not the Air 3!
That's just the way I roll.
I am a camera first guy!
@@xavier_arthur That's fair but my point is there are no guarantees there will be a Air 3s (or Pro). You might deprive yourself of this drone waiting for the next.
Coming from a Mavic 3 Pro, the only thing I'm depriving myself of is 04!
And I'm not depriving myself of $1600 for 04!
And I'll put $$$ that A3s is coming 💪
Shouldi I buy thie air 3 or the Mavic 3 Pro? 80% of my work is commercial real estate
I don't know how you even earn money from this when asking such questions 😅
Good Drone but I am waiting for air 3s
Thank you XAVIER for sharing your excellent videos… If DJI does not make O4 retro compatible with O3 …It will mean, as you pointed out, a breaking point for new DJÍs Ecosystem that will represent increase costs for its users ….and also, that there will be NO USE for the functionality that, DJI just sold us, about using the Motion Controller 2 & Goggles Integra with DJI MINI 3 Pro & all Mavic 3, on the new AIR 3 and future drones.. which I think would be a DJÍs BIG MISTAKE OF THOUGTHLESSNESS
Time will tell what DJI does 🤷
I think it‘s time for an update because I‘m with an Air 2. My second drone is a Mini 3 Pro. But my budget says NO. So for me there are two ways. My budget would love to get jumped at with a Air 2S, drone only. I would be able to not only use my batteries. I also can fly with my RC from the Mini 3 Pro. But there’s this problem with the certification. Drones above 250 g will be banned to the open field here (in Europe, running the EASA rules) if they don’t have this C-sticker. That’s why a post certification of the Air 2S would made happy a lot of customers. Without this post-certification DJI promotes the newer drones. In this case the Air 3. Therefore I‘ll wait and may still go with the Air 3. But wait, there’s this FOMO. For my personal purposes as a hobbyist the Air 2 is still very good. In d-cinelike I can edit in post my footage and for YT n fb with their compression everything runs! FOMO = fear of missing out.
But aren't you afraid of missing out 😲
My father always told me growing up: don't worry, there will always be something newer and better coming out, get what you need or get what you want when it's in your budget!
@@xavier_arthur Absolutely true. Besides the budget-break there’s no reason to don’t buy the Air 3… You‘ll miss the step if you‘ll wait till the Christmas Air 3S.
Air 2 /2S is only lighter because of battery weight. Ill take the hit since Air 3 falls into the regulatory space above sub 250g up to 55 lbs. in the US. Plus: Wind 🌬🍃💨
I'm still holding on to the Air 2s. I can see all advantages of upgrading to the Air 3 or Mavic 3 pro but DJI did such an amazing job with the Air 2s, that it really fits nicely with most drone pilot's needs. I am not a professional but love to explore landscapes and make great photos and videos. I film mostly Dlog in golden hour or sunrise/sunset and the results are still fantastic. If you are into night videography, however, I would seriously consider the Air 3 or Mavic 3 since the footage looks universally better than Air 2s.
Do u use nd filters as well
@@nishatchotu I use ND filters with my Air 2s to slow the shutter speed. This makes the move in the video smoother.
Unfortunately, all around Europe, you can’t fly the Air 2S in cities (at least not legally), so I see myself kind of obligated to upgrade and get that C1 label. Great review and on point. Thank you.💪
Come to Bulgaria, nobody gives a shit for drones, we have bigger problems 😅
@@dicekolev5360 Same here in Romania most of the time :))...until someone makes a complaint unfortunately :(
@@green.weekends oh hi neighbour, haha. Well, bulgarians are so lazy and brainwashed, nobody cares. Kids are going "Drone, drone!!", adults are like: "Ugh, drone" the others don't hear a thing 🤷🏻♂️
Why are some saying that the camera sensors are BSI and/or stacked? There is nothing about that on the DJI site. I highly doubt it at this price point.
Watch original dobo. This is not the same sensor as the mini 3 pro, it has updated technology. Most who do not have the drone yet are saying it's the same sensor when it is not. Watch a reviewer that has the drone and they will tell you it's updated.
I've only heard original dobo saying it's stacked and backside illuminated.
I haven't heard that coming from other CZcamsrs who have the Drone and I haven't seen any literature from DJI either confirming this.
Also Stacked and backside illuminated is great but it's still 12 megapixels and it still tops out at 4K, and for a drone that size I'm looking for an adjustable aperture as well.
DJI left room there for the Air3s💪
@@xavier_arthur I have heard others mention the same about the updated sensors as well but... We all have preferences and this drone may not be for everyone.
Valid point!
Yes sir, there's enough drones to go round for everyone's cups of tea and for everyone's boat to float lol Appreciate your hard work and drone wisdom.
I have the Mavic 3 Classic. The Air 3 has the all features of the Mavic 3 Classic. So spending over $1300 for the Air3 with the RC2 to have an 70mm fixed aperture lens makes the 70mm lens the most expensive 70mm lens ever. If you don’t have the Mavic 3 that’s different.
Yeah no reason to go for this drone just for the second lens. Better off waiting for the air 3s if that happens or for a Mavic 4 if you even wanted to upgrade then.
I'm on the fence with the Mavic 3 Pro. I don't like the photos coming from the 70mm & 166mm cameras since I am basically a still photographer and need that 20MP camera but the images you can get(barring the low MP count) are amazing. What I want is the Air3S. Are you ready...two 1" sensors. Both capable of 20MP images. I have the Air2S and the Classic...do I "Jump the shark?"
2x 1" sensors 😲 That's a big ask!
@@xavier_arthur I really want three...I was being nice...haha. On a side note...if I dumped my Classic and got the Mavic Pro 3, would there be any regrets? Do the stills, being really 12MP, hold up?
They hold up really well for social media, I would not blow those up or print them!
@@xavier_arthur I guess if I was a video guy, getting the Mavic 3 Pro is a no brainer. Thanks for getting back.
Or if you like internet photography having different focal lengths is fun and creative!
And when things get serious also having that 20 megapixel 4/3 sensor at your fingertips is nice too!
#flexibility
For video I prefer 5.4k but I learned to live with Mavic 3 5.1k resolution.
Sometimes it's just working with what you have available to you, unless you want to spend $16,000 for the inspire 3 full frame camera with interchangeable lenses 😍
Is it the MINI 3 or the AIR 3? You introduced it as the Mini 3..very confusing
You're making out like it's the same camera sensors.
It's nothing like it
Flying behind a tall building should be better for this ecosystem. Any comment.
Ocusync 4 is a huge deal. Forget range. I just got and Flew the Air 3 first time. Biggest take away? Occusync 4 is order of magnitude better in urban environment. Not sure where all this 5.1/5.2 ghz band talk is coming from. It's 2.4 and 5.8, JUST LIKE O3/O3+ - it does, however kick it. It's BETTER than my AlienTech Duo II. - YES. Think about that. Better than a dedicated 3981mw (double RC Pro) boosted antenna costing upwards of $500. Food for thought.
By the way Occusync IS technically WiFi. With rolling channel/frequency hop. Its very well designed, and can't be called WiFi, but in essence is closer to WiFi 6 than you might expect.
Huge deal for me means, I could never go back to 03!
Basically it means I could get shots that I could never achieve with 03 due to interference!
Would you say that's the case for sure?
@@xavier_arthursorry completely misread that. I got a single flight in before dark - O4 allowed a Hyperlapse to places o could not reach so technically... yes. I was incredibly impressed.
I will not purchase the air 3. If it is not backwards compatible with the remotes. I own a mini 3 pro as well as every other DJI drone and if none of my remotes are compatible backwards forwards, I will not buy another drone from them
Yea you will, who are you kidding lol
I hear you Man
Asking the older controller 🎮 to work the newer drone might not be possible due to lower technology, but buying a newer drone with newer technology, that newer controller should be able to work the older drone no problem.
That's my belief
Doesn't matter when it's all so expensive
I do think this is odd choice by Dji. The Mavic 3 Pro was released not so long ago and now released the Air 3 with ocusync 4 which at present is not forward or backward compatibility. If this doesn't change I would be very pissed if I had the Rc Pro.
The RC Pro is 21 months old. DJI could claim that the lifetime of even an expensive controller is only medium term. 😢
Ive been saying this too!! People keep comparing it to the Air 2S when this isn't meant to be the upgrade from that. So can we expect an Air 3s?
I disagree, the air 3 is the successor to the Air 2s, this comparison to me was silly. Literally saying a years old sensor versus the newest tech that’s a stacked sensor isn’t genuine in my opinion. Overall I think you make great videos we just disagree here.
I hear you!
Did you pull the trigger?
@@xavier_arthur if did, I’ve been flying it today!
The brah don’t know the difference between a regular sensor vs a back lit one…is not the same sensor as the Mini Pro 3…performance wise is not on the same level at all
BTW you already have controllers for your older drones, so who cares if the controller from the Air 3 flies the Mini 3 or Mavic 3?
Lol you’re everywhere.. But I’m rather certain ppl with multiple drones like the idea of using their RC Pro with those multiple drones
@Jhorne84 "Liking the idea" and being angry over it are two different things. A lot of people are presenting this as if their old remotes are suddenly junk now that the new one is out. BTW neither the RC2 nor the RC-N2 save multiple drones so you'd have to pair it each time you switched. The RC Pro was designed for people that want to use a remote with multiple drones.
These drones came with remotes. Most people have bags or cases that they keep their drones in. These cases have slots for remotes. You can only fly one drone per remote at a time.
PMS- problem miner syndrome, the act of constantly digging for things to be angry about when a new product is introduced. Advanced cases involve individuals being angry even though they have no intention of purchasing said product but are complaining.
@@londenard I agree. Since it’s release I’ve watched just about every Air 3 video (except the ones in different languages) to include the ones bashing it or telling us not to purchase it. For me, not being able to use the new remotes is irrelevant because it will be my only drone as I just sold my Air 2s.
@Jhorne84 Exactly. Who is this guy who's going out to fly his multiple drones, but can only carry one remote? Heck, I own several drones but I only typically bring one with me. To be honest, there is always one best drone in your fleet.
I don't know who cares but it would be nice for the RC Pro to control the newer 04 drones but everything has a lifespan.
Hopefully A3s will come with a RC Pro 2 😲 with 04+
20 megapixel camera with adjustable aperture 💪 and 5.4k 😍
Why not compare to air2S? nobody think about air2... it's like youve benn paid by dji to enhanced this drone. I usualy like your videos but this one is not as honest as the others. sorry.
still using both of my mini 2 have a k to spend should i upgrade or not will size make me end up not flying it my minis dont produce karens yea humans suck
The sensor is totally different, its a stacked back lit sensor and there are two of them. Always worry about you tubers trying to get hits from products they don’t own or have never used . The information you’re giving out at best can be called scant.
You can't tell if a sensor is stacked and backlit from using it!
That information has to come from the manufacturer!
Or you would need to open it & know what you're looking for.
I've heard one CZcamsr say backlit and stacked, and I've heard another CZcamsr say same as Mini 3 but with special algorithm!
I definitely would like to see information direct from the manufacturer, if you find that please share a link.
That would be most helpful as opposed to name calling 💪
Happy Flying 🪽
@@xavier_arthur maybe you should have waited and checked it out. Is that not what you’re trying to do.
Nope, Because it's still a 12megapixel camera.
Still no adjustable aperture on the main camera, especially on a drone that size 😔
Sometimes people get caught up in the fomo, I'm just trying to help some people settle things down and think things through.
This is a fantastic Drone 💪 but it's definitely not for everyone.
