Hi Friends, today I am sharing my watercolor painting of a simple landscape (seascape) with BIG DRAMATIC SKY and muted tones for land and water. It is a two layer painting process - sky and undercoat for the land first; the ground and trees are painted wet on dry as a second wash. The colours are limited so the mixing process is also simplified.
It is a great subject to try if you are a beginner or intermediate watercolorist.

:) good question, I believe not in art. In art it's usually reffed to a "tonal painting", a painting that is mostly concerned about tones rather than bright multitude of color. I have a number of "black and white" paintings, but even there i use at least 5-6 colors with various temperatures. It's difficult to paint light and make it look believable unless you vary temperature of a hue,, even if it's black ☺️
