Just WOW! India's Grandest Tribal Celebration | Hornbill Festival Nagaland

- We ticked off another big one from our bucket list: The Hornbill Festival
The Festival of all Nagaland Festivals showcase to the world the beautiful and talented tribes of Nagaland. We were just amazed by the people and how this festival turned out to be. Not only did we tick this off from our bucket list, this was hands down THE best festival we have ever been to,
and take my word for it, you should too. The festival started with the a Big Bang opening ceremony and inauguration by the vice president of India and an artist (Imnainla Jamir) playing electric guitar rendition of the national anthem, from that till the end we were just mind-blown. One of the main intent of the festival is for the tribes to showcase their artistic talents. Their ornaments were quite unique and undoubtedly some of the best handicrafts we have seen in this country so far. And almost every young Naga folk we met was a talented musician or dancer!
It’s really great to see how both the people and government want to preserve their history and yet embrace all modernizations. There isn’t any other country in this world that has this kinda diversity. Within the same state, the language, the culture, food the cuisine changes every 100
kilometres. There are about 16 tribes in Nagaland and around 11 participated in this festival this year.
Tribes : Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Dimasa Kachari, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Kuki, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Zeliang.
In this video, you will see them smile, perform, sing, dance, and having fun. You will fall in love with them, just like how we did.
Getting to know and bond with each tribe was a blessing. The energy, the passion, and the pride they carried for their tribe was something to learn from. By now you would have guessed, but let me say it, “We had one of the best times at Hornbill!” One of the famous Naga tribes, The Konyaks, who are known for their headhunting practices in the
past unfortunately could not participate in this festival this year. And our next episode will be on that tribe straight from their village. be on that tribe right from their village. So subscribe and stay tuned my friends! Be part of our journey while we capture more such beautiful places and culture in this beautiful country called India!

I really love the cinematography. As a Naga, I feel like you've shown us in a light better than how we could've portrayed ourselves, so we feel flattered plus very thankful for that 😅
But most importantly, I'm grateful to see that you've opened your heart and mind to enjoy our culture and the event altogether. Hope you visit again, even without your cameras, other heavy gears and just enjoy it like you're in your own home.
Hi Lipok, Thank you very much for taking time out of your schedule to give your feedback. Our channel is all about observing through the noise and showcasing it. Through the busy-ness of Hornbill, we saw how Naga people were proud of the culture and how keenly it needed to be preserved and progressed. And that is what came out in the video. We just shot it, added some music and narrated it. Feel very happy that we could be a part of it. Soo happy that we have extended our stay as well to experience more of it. 😍
Saw you guys on Hornbill. Thank you for displaying our rich cultures and traditions.🥰🥰🥰

How to book🎉
There is one particular tribe name which you misunderstood.
*It's not Sumiki tribe but it is know as "SUMI " tribe.
I suppose you misunderstood by what it was written above the Door of that Sumiki Hut.
Because when we say "SUMIKI" we mean *SUMI HOUSE/HUT (or anything that relates to residential)
Otherwise it is know as SUMI TRIBE.
Likewise, in our dialogue we say "NIKI" it means "my home/house", and "AKI" means "House". So , "KI" is added to SUMI just to relate with *SUMI Hut*
I hope this information help you out understand the literal meaning between SUMI and SUMIKI.
But i appreciate both of your efforts in making the video so wonderfully and reaching out to our land *NAGALAND*.
Thank you for the great video and displaying our cultures to others around the world.❤ May we see even more great videos from this channel.
Nice
Thanku 😊
Please come to karbi youth festival in Diphu town karbi Anglong distric Assam going to be held in the month of February it is the oldest ethnic festival ❤️❤️💖💖
Thank you very much for the invite. Will try to plan around that 😍
Jay Attenborough ♥️
😂😂😂 no way.. but thanku soo much 😍
😍😍😍
This should go international recognition as human's precious assets no matter where u from bruh,,, hahahaha
Ha ha ha Thank you soooo much! 😍
To be honest hornbill 2022 is incomplete without 7 eastern naga tribes.
That should definitely be true. Being an outsider, I did enjoy meeting the 11 tribes that came and would have loved meeting the rest. Hopefully, next time we will be able to. 🙏
I love nagaland
Me too! ❤️
Which camera are you using??? Please mention it.
Yes, we will mention it in the video description going forward.
For this episode, we have used Sony A7iii with 80mm prime lens & 24mm Gmaster wide lens.
Insta 360 X2 as action camera & DJI Mavic Air 2S Drone.
9.00... actually it should be sumi tribe not sumiki...... Sumiki means sumi house or morung..!! Anyways nice vlog👍
Yes, realized that after posting. We got confused with the board put up at Morung at the festival site. Thank you for highlighting. Will get it edited in description.
And glad you liked it. Thank you! 😍
😳😳!!
Hope that is a good "wow" expression! 😁😊
Just an FYI friends; the Garo tribe from this video is from Meghalaya and Kachari is from Assam.
Thanks Naomi for the info 😍
You welcome☺️
No it's not from meghalaya they are from nagaland dimapur... and they are indigenous community of nagaland too same as kachari .....do you think we meghalayan Achik or garo will participate in hornbill festival without nagas consent or anything.... don't put your suck information.....get your facts... I think ur just kind of mindset people.... And garo of nagaland r don't know how to dance wangala.. unlike they beloved community of meghalaya.... 😂😂😎😎😏😏😏
FYI, garo(meghalaya), Kachari ( Assam) and Kuki ( Nomadic tribe, though they have a headquarter in Athibung under Peren District) are not actually NAGAS. Hoping this will shed some light to your vlog, peace🖖😇😇
Thanks for that info, really helps our understanding 👍
@@Imaininijay thank you. As you already know SM is so sensitive these days. Hope you do your best. All the success in the world for you guys, peace🖖😇😁
But they are indigenous communities of nagaland too .... and they r Achik or garo of not from meghalaya...yeah majority Achik r living in megalaya and Assam ... but those who living in nagaland they r indigenous of nagaland not from meghalaya..... N no one saying they are nagas ... but they r residing in nagaland in decades...
