      I'm not sure if you realized this or not, but young "Rap Monster" with the ridiculous hair that sparked your memory is RM, the "guy in the white hat" who seems to be becoming your bias! 😉 (Your "bias" is the BTS member you feel most connected to, although it goes without saying that every ARMY loves all seven of them, no matter whether we have a bias or not!). I figured knowing that would give you a good laugh. 😉 A bit more on RM: he's the official group leader, he has an IQ of 148, he's one of the best rappers in the business, and he's known as the "God of Destruction" because he's outrageously clumsy.

    I’m 54 and fell down the BTS rabbit hole in 2016. There are many of us out here in our 40s, 50s, and on and on. BTS is appeals to me on so many levels. Their singing, dancing, rapping, there messages, but I think most of all their ability to be real and vulnerable in front of their fans. I’m certainly not foolish enough to keep think we are given access to every aspect of their lives but we do get to see enough to genuinely get a sense of the people they are and how as a group their best qualities are amplified. And I may be old but I’m not dead…… they are very easy on the eyes!!!

    im 18 yr old army. from august 2020- still now ive had a really hard time. i was doing things i shouldnt have, and i was super depressed. in march 2021 i saw a compilation videos of the sewol ferry tragedy and found out bts actually spoke about this topic. i never wanted to give bts a chance since the way bts is portrayed here in the states is very negative. i said “ok fuck it lol” and decided to watch *spring day* which is abt the tragedy. instantly fell in love with the message and meaning and fell down the rabbit hole. bts made me smile when i couldn’t genuinely smile in months. their music and personalities saved me. i cant thank them enough. theres a saying “bts will come to you when you need them the most”. bts is exactly what i needed in order to feel more like myself again. i felt stupid for ever disregarding them, but then i heard suga (my bias) say “the day you find bts is the day we debut for you”. this quote alone felt like a huge weight off my shoulders. bts gave me so much and i felt like i was never able to give back due to my disrespect to them in the past. but i know now that more or so, my story is similar to a lot of armys out there. and im glad we can all find happiness in bts.

    As for the talent, I put them in the same category as Beyoncé, Bruno, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder whom I adore but this is the only fandom I threw my money after. I paid to be member because I can get behind what they stand for and doing. Yes, you are correct, older Army are here for the talent and the lyrics for sure. Yes they write and produce and have been doing that since they were teenagers. RM has the most writing credits 140+, Suga is a genius producer most sought after in Korea and I would have to think outside as well. Don't get me started with J hope or the others.
    It's like 7 Beyonce's, 7 Stevie wonder's, 7 Bruno Mars and 7 Michael Jackson's. Bang PD(CEO) is a genius on the same level as Steve Jobs, Gates, and Warren Buffett. I feel he turned the Kpop industry upside down with BTS. Through innovation, perseverance and persistence to stick to their mission....they have been vilified in their own country and out, death threats, yet they persist. I don't know if they are humans, but are truly angels here on earth.😂 These boys are precious and hardworking and can inspire anyone. They are humble Kings and represent their culture well.

I’ve listened to music for a long time but I’ve never seen a band so connected to their very devoted fans. There is a deep connection there and it extends all over the world. Their fans are global and very protective because the boys have had a lot shit to deal with from fans of other Korean bands’ fans and the big music companies in Korea. Note that this video is a bit dated as to the numbers and their “latest album.” There are updated videos by xCeleste and others.

    Even when they have reached this peak in their career, they remain humble and grounded. When I watched 1 of their videos about a month ago when they were unboxing the Butter Albums to sign on them, JHope looked at their individual and group photo cards inserted in the box and he smiled & commented that they look like celebrities. I was like..hey you're the biggest act in the world and they don't see themselves as celebrities. And in their SBS interview where the news anchor asked them what they did after winning the billboard awards bec they didn't join the after party, Jungkook replied that they went back to their hotel and went live online with their fans to thank them for winning the top social award. Then they went back to work to practice. I think at that time they were on world tour. Their humility & hard work are so admirable.

Since this video, they have 5 #1 Billboard Hot 100 hits - Dynamite, Savage Love remix, Life Goes On (Korean language), Butter, and Permission to Dance. And they were nominated for a Grammy with Dynamite, First KPOP Artist to do so. RM, Suga, and J HOPE actually write many of their songs, as well as production. The other members have also. What’s good about them is, it’s not just what we say because we love them, but people off-camera and in the real world has given their account of their experience as a group and/or individual members by how gracious and respectful they are. Not just the present, but even before they officially debuted. They are human, and they admit they make mistakes as one expects of young people but they always respond with do and try better. By the way, RM is the first signed on in 2010 when he was only 15 but his talent and his intelligence as a person and rapper from the underground. The members were trainees until BTS officially debuted June 2013, so RM was 18 going on 19 that time.

    I am repeating myself, as I commented on the first video I saw of yours, but I believe it bears repeating. I discovered BTS early this year while recovering from COVID. CZcams pushed Jimin's live performance of "LIE" to me, as I LOVE to watch dance videos. Watching Jimin dance & hearing his vocals, I HAD TO KNOW who this man was. Down the BTS rabbit hole I went! I was drawn in by their talent and music.Their messages of hope, and encouragement, along with their KIND SOULS have made me loyal to them. They were what I needed at a time when I didn't know I needed them! They came into my life during an extremely difficult time. To this day, I am struggling, but BTS keeps me balanced and grounded. These young men were brought together as "boys" and grew with each other. How did Bang PD pull this off? His philosophy / mission is so inspiring. He, himself, must be a good man! As an older Army I am here for musically diverse catalog with some of the most wonderful interesting messages. They have built a global community and take their responsibilities as celebrities very seriously and want to make a positive impact in the messages and music on the world. It’s why Army is so strong and pushes their message, we know this isn’t shallow this is a deep well of authentic work. It gives me great hope to know that so many people want to see positive change and are growing up influenced like this. I’ll never stop laughing that one of their social critique songs Bapsea is also super catchy and the choreography is infamously a crowd engaging with many hip thrusts. They aren’t just serious they are funny well rounded humans that I am happy to support because in these exceptionally trying times they refill me when I am tired and my soul feels empty.

    BTS members are closer than brothers. There are many families who can't stand each other. Lol. Jimin and Jhope even share a room at their dorm today (you can see their room in "Life Goes On" mv). Jimin's free self-written song "Promise" is the most downloaded song on SoundCloud of all time. It is a song about mental health. BTS gave another speech at UN last year via Video. They also gave speeches at Barack Obama's 2020 Commencement event. They will travel to New York next month to speak at the UN again. It will be the first time since early 2020 that they have stepped out of Korea.

  • @Ana-id6uk
    @Ana-id6uk Před 3 lety +2

    Yes, they are still young, so the KOMCA (copyright) credit story is impressive, but not that surprising considering how they came to be. Currently, RM is 26 yo and is in the top 5 most credited songwriters in Korea, thus making him also the youngest of the bunch. The group actually started with RM, he was signed on the spot when he was 16 or 17 because his rapping skills were better than most adults, but also since his lyrics and storytelling had a lot of substance - most of his KOMCA credits come from lyrics, some from composing, some from producing. The group was pretty much formed around him. But the whole point was for them to be authentic and honest from the start, so of course they participated in writing their own lyrics and music. They once said that the company works like a music camp, everyone creates music on their own and then they pitch it, discuss it, and bounce off of each other's ideas - this includes the group of in-house producers, though Suga produces a lot (including for other artists, not just BTS). Not to mention that they are EXTREMELY prolific in putting out new music, in 8 years, there are about 250+ original songs (not counting Japanese versions of Korean songs or solo albums) - most they had their hand in making, but who the primary songwriter/producer is differs. If you wanna know more, RM talks about the songwriting process on livestream when an album comes out (this includes tidbits of who did what) so you can check that out if you're interested + Bighit strictly publishes credits on songs in order of contribution (not all companies do this), so you can always check those if interested.
    The development of the members in terms of songwriting differs though, RM and Suga started out by contributing (composing, writing, producing) a lot since they had previous experience, and J Hope wrote his raps, but focused on the performance aspects in the beginning and branched out later. Jungkook, V, Jin and Jimin started writing more as time went by with the help of the company and the rappers (mostly RM), each at their own pace. Accordingly, RM and Suga have two solo mixtapes out, J Hope has one, and we are currently waiting for JK and V to drop their mixtapes/albums, which they have been teasing for about a year now - they both published some notable singles in the meantime.

In Korea, Koreans consider a year in the womb as counting towards their age, so everyone is one year old at birth. Everyone gets one year added to their Korean age on New Year's Day.
