"Tally Ho" is that a reference to Samdon Boat Co launching the Tally Ho historic sailboat after 7 years of restoration a few says ago?
Hypermotard is what they called me in high-school
Leaning difficulties?
Ha! Good one😂
Sure it wasn’t re- instead of mo-?😉
@@xouat it can fit on the short bus too
Did you also happen to ride the short bus?
Zack has one of the best jobs ever. riding to work is his work.
He also writes a ton of articles
@@tchandler187 Stars in a ton of videos. Hosts a long-ass podcast. Dude earns his paycheck for sure.
Like I said dream job.
and getting flown to other countries on the company's dime to test new motorcycles
@@yamaharacing85 Definitely not as glamourous as it seems, but it makes good content.
Zack always surprises me with how skilled he is, yet he's not boasting or pulling a lot of attention to it. He just subtly shows that these things are possible with these bikes.
You should listen to the latest Highside-Lowside Podcast episode to hear about how skilled he really is, especially on a track
Pretty sure he did some supersport class racing in his day.
That loop over the dash would bug the hell out of me
i can't stop looking at it
It bugged me a bit on my CRF, but you kind of stop noticing it after a couple of 100-mile
Whats it for?
The front brake line@@TheBorre
So how would you design a brake line that works with a lot of fork travel? People have no clue anymore how anything works 😢
You've titled the first section "A quick walkaround of the SMT 890"
lol😂
I've been told they've got a new guy uploading videos to youtube.
Haha, good catch. Copy and paste from the previous vid.
Jumping spiders are *awesome*! They're actually trainable at a basic level, they don't make messy webs, they're completely harmless, and best of all they're a predator of poisonous spiders, so they'll kill things like black widows and the brown recluse. They're kind of friendly and playful little creatures... Like the Hypermotard 698!
I was not aware of that!
Trained killer spiders are tight
When I was a kid, I'd get an ant infestation in my bathroom each year, during the Florida rainy season. Each season, I'd catch and release a jumping spider in the bathroom. The ant problem would get resolved, and the spider would presumably let itself out through whatever path the ants were using to get in. 😁
@@starkparker16and barely an inconvenience.
Black widows have never been a problem for me. Having dealt with them in what feels like the millions with them loving hay sheds.
We don't have Brown Recluse in California.
Zack's reaction to that "big" spider at the end was adorable
My man is not lapping up the Ducati BS and stays objective as a moto journalist should... I'm proud!
Not lapping up the Ducati BS? He absolutely loved the bike even if it doesn't make a great daily rider.
@@elgrunto1428 liking something flawed is allowed. I’m sure there are plenty bad movies you like. As long as you understand what it is it’s no issue at all.
Ducati derangement syndrome 😂😂✌️
That stoppy was EPIC!
About the dash: that's part of why I chose the Street Triple R over the RS. I'm not watching movies on the thing, just checking my speed and occasionally which gear I'm in. And menus don't really matter to me either. After a couple of weeks I almost never use them anymore; I've got it set where I want it. I can see why a motorbike journalist/reviewer would care more since you're riding different bikes and swapping among them more often than I do. I also realize I'm a curmudgeon.
Thanks for Daily Riding my dream bike Zack - you're the man! 🙂

Hi Zack,
your reviews are the best! Keep up the good work! Greetings from a hungarian engineer in Germany!
been waiting for my fav riders to review this beautiful machine :) thanks friends
I’ve been in love with the hypermotard ever since high school
And I still can't afford kne
What a great time to be a rider when so many tasty options are out there for every mood!
The perfect evaluation. Very much appreciated, your review seemed to hit the mark spot on.
I agree, as long as the screen provides all the useful information, colour tft or not makes no difference
As a 698 owner this is a very comprehensive review of the bike. Very well done sir 👍
This bike is not for everyone but I’ve ridden a lot of bikes and this thing is fantastic.. first bike I’ve ever felt 100% comfortable throwing around and hammering on and ripping wheelies whenever your heart desires 😎
That ferris wheel of a cable above the dash display would drive me insane…
I totally enjoy these daily rides.
YES. Ive been wanting a video on this bike for a while.
Thank you for this DR, I was curious about your opinion!
i was waiting for zack to review this bike, havent watched a single review out there
Always look forward to a new episode of Daily Rider, even if it's a bike I'm not interested in, there all good!
They're
@@tvens1 LOL! I knew that, and yet it slipped past me. Thanks. 😊
Great review, thanks for sharing you excitement!!
I just love these daily rides. Makes loooong winters bearable 👍
I love that you reviewed the hypermotard. Would also love to see a review pf a husky sometime 701 or 801.
Still loving my Hyper 1100 after 12 years with it.
I love your videos or is uploads these days, I’m showing my age 😂, the range of bikes is fantastic, but I’m unsure if the manufactures had dirt roads in mind when building some of them, but it’s a short cut, so that’s ok 😂🤣😂. That laugh of yours cracks me up, when you open the throttle a little too much or pulling a wheelie it makes my day. One thing I often wonder, when your talking and your hands are making the movements, I wonder what people wonder when they pull up next to you, maybe just another crazy guy in the world 😂, anyway stay safe and keep putting the content out 👍
Supermoto content again. We are spoiled and I l love it!
I have the 2007 Hyper 1100. It has no rider aides or modes, is almost double the power, and still the same snappy throttle. It is, and I can’t emphasize this enough, EXTREMELY fun. The best, most fun bike Ducati makes
I dont belive it, will test tho.
I have a 2011 Hyper 1100. Insanity on wheels; I absolutely love it
I thought that bike made around 100 HP. A friend of mine had one and my speed triple was much faster
Lot of power to go curb hopping. Looks really cool too
Already got a few bits for mine from SRmoto. Loving it so far. Definitely needs an exhaust and flash though.
Its a shame you never reviewed the 701 SM
701/690 when?
Loving the motorcycle selection this season. Moto Guzzi has been on my mind lately for their character, ktms are always on my mind for their fun engine. Hypermotard had caught my attention when I saw couple of hooligans weaving through traffic in NYC, and now you've covered that as well. Great work!
Always wanted one! Would take some customization to touch the ground but still want it!
Scary flashbacks to the "Stand By Me" railroad bridge scene as you were riding between the lake and the tracks there... thanks.
Love the Videos! Can you review the Triumph Bobber pleaseeeeeeee 👌👌👌
Big fancy dash screens are not necessary on motorcycles and one could argue they're not even desirable.
That anti-stall is really cool! We all get caught off-guard everyonceinawhile and that's a handy feature that's even good for safety.
Suzuki is using anti-stall on their bikes for ages (my V-Strom 1000 2014 has it)
@@ArtTerekhovso does sv650
Now you've done the 698, you have to do the 690/700/701, you kinda have to :>
It would only be fair... Journalistic curiostity hopefully let’s us see that.
Nice bike.
Small note on misnamed chapter @1:15 "A quick walkaround the 890 SMT"
Good job keeping yourself in check and not taking that jump at 24:30.
I am expecting a giggle filled episode. Let’s go!!
Amazing the power to weight. Lighter the bike or car means better acceleration, braking, and handling. Typically more expensive to lighten a vehicle vs placing a larger motor. Good job Ducati. Lighter is better. Love the styling
I just got a 2019 Multistrada 1260 and I love it. But I only live 8-10 min from work. I really want one of these for my quick jaunt to work. And I have always wanted a Supermoto because they look like a lot of fun to ride.
This is defo a dream bike for me
upvote purely for the tempting super-moto trailer jump. I thought for a moment you were going to go for it!
The spider at the end looks like a jumping spider. They're the best bois.
I have this bike. Love it.
Funny that not having a smartphone screen on a motorcycle dash is something that needs excusing. I personally much prefer a simpler dash, regardless of which motorcycle. Same with cars for that matter.
Am I old???
For this bike the dash is super nice. Look what KTM gives you.
I’m with you. Simplify more please. Though we’re probably both old, let’s be real.
Didn't expect to see you here. This bike is priced around the same as the next unique melody release.
Nah, your points are valid. These expensive screen speedometers sometimes get broken with too much sunlight. Not only that, speedometers usually get smashed to pieces on certain crashes, I'd rather have an analog or a cheap replaceable led display.
Matter of bike class and price. For that money I defo want nice, big and easy to use TFT .
They don't have to be complicated.
They sometimes are but just because mfg is lazy or have terrible designer for gui.
Simplicity argument is miss, more expensive if break, sure.
Tft with good gui design will be more readable and easier to use than that clock contraption from 1990
11:32 was exactly what I wanted to see. So the 698 is eager to wheelie without a clutch-up. Looks like my ideal urban commuter.
I prefer the look of spoked wheels but, from a practical perspective, I look forward to carrying a tire plug kit and putting tubes behind me. My 690's front tube popped just yesterday, on a country road.
Love to see how it compares to the 701
Footless stops what are my past time favorites on both of my bikes on a 02 and 07 Yamaha YZF R6 both of them fully done up for track duty from basic bolt ons to much more intricate high performance modifications that were not just about power adders from a engine perspective in terms of faster. But rather covering all aspects and area's of the bike(s) electronic and mechanical aspects to make the bike perform better everywhere.
Anyways the reason i bring this up is because both of R6 bikes were upgraded with a long list of performance modifications and changes to them. So when i rode i was extremely aggressive on the street and already basically a full fledged racebike for the most part. That being said I would come up to intersections from stop signs to lights and would transition from moving to stopped to moving...i worked on it every time i had to stop. And while doing so it was like a personal game at trying to outdue my last stop by trying to not only come to a full and complete stop but all while maintaining balance on the bike without ever putting a foot down. I became so good at it that it was pretty unbelievable for the amount of time that i was able to manage the balance of the bike in upright position with my feet still fixed on the foot pegs
Objective Zack is best Zack.
Ive never ridden a bike with any electronic aid. (Newest bike Ive had is a drz400S). That thing is like a rocket ship from the future. I love it. Please make a dual-sport version. less displacement, more service intervals, keep it high revving, single pipe, different fewer modes, 21/18, 320 lbs or less, $13k or less.
This bike would be a dream on Glendora Mountain Road and the Malibu canyons.
As a guy who cycles up GMR often...I always imagine riding an SM up there.
Whoever is responsible for naming these precision riding machine robots is doing a Fabelhafte Arbeit - wunderbar job!
If that's half a superbike engine with desmo valve system it's definitely capable of a lot more than 77hp. The tuners are going to go nuts with this.
A very interesting bike… definitely into it
I had a 12 Hypermoto 1100 EVO SP Corse for 4 years. UNICYCLE!
An energetic puppy that’s well trained 🤙🏼
Would love to see some random dashcam footy of that stoppie around 18minutes in. LoL! The control!
Duc looks sick but when I can get a KTM 690 with both off road and sumo wheels for half the cash...it's tough to go Ducati.
Been waiting for this
10000% on the instruments--I'm tired of color TFTs that command your attention and invariably look super dated after a couple years. Kinda feels like it's trying to distract me from riding the bike. I'm ready for a switch back to simple clusters like this LCD, or dare I say even dials.
Looks like a 690 SMC which will bring you many smiles for miles ridden. That bike would be a slayer at the Streets of Willow.
It's very much a clone of the 690 SMCR, with a slightly higher sweet spot in the powerband.
@@churchofbrap876 I don’t know how you can get much higher than the 2019+ 690/701 which is rev monster. Haha. Fun bike know matter what! Cheers.
@@Cycle9568 the 690 makes it's max power/ torque about 1500 rpm lower in the powerband. Both are screamers though.
Great video as always! Would love to see a Triumph Trident 660 someday; I think that's the perfect commuter!
Could be wrong, but i think there is an episode of it already?🤔
@@HeyAddieImTojo when the bike first came out, Sperge did a quick ride review but, not as in depth as they do here on Daily Rider. Would just love to see it .. wishful thinking maybe. 🙂
There is not a trident one yet, but he did have the tiger 660 with the same engine/breaks/most of the chassis.
@@johnmaher4649 Good point. Agreed. 🙂
Thanks for the question @FunkyKongsNuts. How's it hanging?
No matter what bike Zack shows us he is always "a scholar and a gentleman" :) The joy of a skilled rider celibrating an interesting ride >> THanks and a big helllo from New England ..
Rode it but I prefer the 690smcr…not that the duc isnt a phenom…but like shoes, many produce quality comfortable pairs. They cater to feet shapes that differ. KTM fits me better: ride position, delivery of torque, overall as close to man/machine I have personally rode. One mans opinion. Thanks Zack!
Side note: I built a bored/ported 04 525sx into a SM back in the day. The Mono reminds me much of that bike but with more revs than the platform or I could ever achieve at that time/money🤣. 🤙
Ducati is going to be making dirt bikes in the near future 💪🏽👍🏽
Bonnie T120 test please!!
Looks like a lot of fun without go-to-jail speeds 😊
1:15 A quick walkaround the 890 SMT
THat's a strange looking SMT.
One thing nobody talks about when comparing 698 to the KTMs, is the distinct lack of false neutrals, which at times drove me absolutely bananas on the 701..
False neutrals happen at least 4-5 times a ride . Just part of life with the KTM. There is a work around but a bit pricey.
none on mine yet '23 ... fingers crossed
called it on IG :)))! rates high in Zach's heart but low on the leaderboard. Also, I just sold my 690 SMC-R, this review makes me want to buy the 698...
Would be nice to see an adjustable suspension option to lower it
We need a Common Thread video with you and Arie
Thanks for being honest with this. Hopefully Ducati allows you to keep riding their bikes after not putting it in first place.
I know its in a different weight and motor size category, but in a shear daily fun factor, how does it compare to your KTM 950 Supermoto?
Can you guys add some footage of you while sitting on the bike?
I dont think it'd sell but I wish they made a dual sport one of these for the sheer ridiculousness of it
An adv style bike with this engine, the right wheels and bigger tank might be the unicorn everyone is looking for but it might eat into the sales of the Desert X
Chapter 3 is mislabeled as "890 SMT" instead of Hypernotard 698. Love the daily ride!
it looks fun
I wear a Alpinestars tech 10 airbag but I need to get a tech 3 for my ride to work cause having to change when I get to work is a pain. It's great when I go on rides with friends or longer rides that I know I'll likely be riding fast it covers alot of the body but it does have a large back hump which makes it so younhave to buy a Alpinestars suit if you want a suit that it fit in.
The badge and the price tag mean 90% will never see more track or dirt track time than a Ducati scrambler, but damn if it’s not a cool bike!
Can it fit a skidplate and a set of dirt wheels?
still need the multistrada V2S on Daily Rider
I watched this with a cynics eye. All I saw when the review started, was KLR650 clone that was $7000 overpriced. But Zack's review made it clear, this is a very light, very tossable bike, very unlike the KLR. As the review progressed, I saw where someone would love to own one of these Duc 698 Motards. Light weight in a powerful motorcycle is a blast to live with. Especially if you have had previous experience with Ducati's and love the brand, I could defintely see this bike selling. Motorcycle makers who are not afraid to put out special models, not from a cookie cutter approach, should always be recognized for that effort. An entertaining review as always from Zack and Revzilla.
Ummmm, some guy named Mario or Luigi went to the KTM dealer and bought a 690 Supermoto and brought it back to the Ducati factory where they made their version of it. Its not that brave or original….😂
A KLR with twice the power, 100+ lbs lighter, and street wheels. So, nothing like a KLR.
This bike is very close to a KLR. They both have 2 wheels and an engine.
question;
could such a highly regarded company like Ducati not find a way to loop that bit of tubing, that forms a noose above the dash currently, in some other way that maybe doesn't hang out like that?
does look like mad fun though!
I see this bizarre comment on every Hyper video. Many bikes with a lot of suspension travel have this so the brake line has room to move. Make it too low and it blocks the dash.
Makes sense, I hadn't realised
Would’ve been nice to have the Termi’s for this review. From my understanding, this is the only way to get the “wheelie package”. A updated licensed Ducati ECU flash that helps the wheelie challenged by holding the bike near 12 o’clock in 1st-3rd without looping out. It’s got the throttle, clutch flash, and rear brake dialed. All you do is pin the gas. I mean… why else would you have this bike😆 Braaap
I'll take the SMC, no spoke wheels and the design is like a dorsoduro 750
You should do a daily rider on the 950 SP for a comparison to this 698 mono!
Imma spank the blinkers off one of these next time I'm in a Ducati dealership.
Hopefully they let me ride it too :)
Would love to see an adventure model..
This is a very very good looking SuMo
