"NOW LOOK, PAL!" (gets me every time)
Agree, Belushi pushing Chevy away was funny as hell and the delivery of that line was perfect.
You can totally see here how Belushi influenced Chris Farley. That heart attack bit Farley took and ran with for a touchdown.
Most definitely! Chris Farley was def the Belushi of his cast! czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
yup! saw it to
And the great thing about Chris Farley I mean with John it was a 1-yard dive Chris Farley was an 80-yard Scamp
What an excellent point two levels
" in a van down by the river "

Begs the question what about the Chip and Dale with Patrick Swayze...
The man could move
RIP John Belushi
Woodcock Johnson stop being weird. Who reply’s crap like that to youtube comments ? You can deny and say I’m wrong all you want. But you and I know
Both know, you have a shit attitude because you haven’t gotten laid in a very very long time. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear ur a virgin. 😬 get laid and you’ll be a nicer person! Seriously
aew
If you like Belushi and little powdered donuts enjoy my tribute to John B! czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
Belushi was one-of-a-kind; what a comic genius!
My sister used to go see John when he was part of Second City in Chicago. She always said that nothing he did at SNL was even close to being as funny as he was at Second City. Second City was before all the drugs and SNL was after he had already peaked.
He would have gotten better and his death scared the shit out of everyone who was doing the same things he was doing, that, and going to jail.
He really was....check out my tribute on my channel if you get a tic! czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
But is he was a genius why didn’t he memorize his lines he has to read the script
The Best!
I laughed now just like I did when I saw this on the air 46 years ago.
There will never be another like Belushi again.
Sadly no. Someone on here pointed out that Chris Farley was definitely inspired. True that. Check out my Belushi tribute....czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
Probably just as well. I find that his comedy was very much of its time, and it hasn't held up all that well over the years. I thought he was hilarious when I was in my twenties, but I just don't find him all that funny anymore, and my son doesn't find him funny at all.
He has been gone 37 years now and would have been 70 years young this past January. Hard to believe. John you were so good and could have gone even farther. Why could you not believe in you? I hope really hope that you are happy where you are. I will never forget you! Funny guys come and go nowadays but there is only one John Belushi!!!!!
Whoa. I don't feel old watching that clip but reading your comment I do. Ha. Check out my tribute to John Belushi if you get a chance. czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
If John Candy an Bill Murray had a baby it was John Belushi
It's strange how much humour has changed in 40 years
Yeonhee Ahn You mean just like music, fashion, politics, literature, and technology??
You mean how SNL sucks so incredibly long and hard these days?
Their own fault trying to make every sketch political somehow.
Kent Rushton SNL has sucked for years and years and years and years. Has nothing to do with their current need to make everything political. Once the original cast left, it never was the same. It should’ve been put out of his misery back in the 90s.
I bet you haven't watched an entire SNL show in years... only people who don't actually watch the show make comments like this.
My father got me the DVDs and said I needed to watch the original SNL in full. So glad he got me those as I binge watched them and laughed my ass off. This was one of the best clips. Belushi going off was hilarious!
My father showed me how to get the DVDs for free off piratebay
SNL should do a family feud sketch where the families would be them impersonating old SNL cast members
Yass that would be genius you should pitch that to Loren
Too many of the greats are dead now… I think it would be disrespectful to try to mimic them.
You mean go completely nuts like Belushi and doing extremely long and complicated explanations of things like Aykroyd? Or just pretend to be British like Armisen.
Yeeeeea FUCK YA!
@@Kowasi It could take place in hell
John was a comedic force of nature-- and the absurdist humor will always be funny.
Thank you SNL. Chevy and John B were one of the greats from that time. RIP. Never forgotten
Why is this still funny to me? Other people don't feel it at all? thank you JB
This isn't very funny if this is your FIRST look at Belushi. Did you hear the people laugh when Chevy introduces him. In one year he became a cult star. The Luck of the Irish is much funnier. I love Belushi and Gilda and the original. Check out my Belushi tribute on my channel if you get a chance. czcams.com/users/WalkofFameWednesdayswithToddPickeringsearch?view_as=subscriber&query=John%20Belushi

Chevy's reactions are priceless.
Chevy Chase excelled on Weekend Update for sure. Check out my Belushi tribute if you get a tic....czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
I love Chevy's reaction at the very end. John Belushi was the absolute best!

It's obvious Belushi wasn't Emily Litella or any other editorial repliers.
I remember when Saturday evening's was time to party with my friends and waiting for Saturday night live to be on.
YEP...Watching was a party. Every Saturday Night.
That anticipation was amazing. When it was a repeat we were so bummed. But we watched it anyway. Ha. Check out my John B tribute....czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
I remember 39 years ago Christmas party all the ambulance people and nurses.... and the ad for Meat Wagon Racetrack went on..... magical times... but now Cicely Stronger,,,
Lorne Michaels will pay for the extra letters..... let's hope; knucklehead Studios 017 02
I always love how, while overall a funny bit, the most hilarious part is where he just vanishes off screen during the heart attack; it's like we'll never know if he's alive or dead (or both, if you want to evoke Schrodinger) behind that desk, and that's where they always leave it. Busts me up every time! 😂
I think about this skit every March
Randy W. - which comes in like elvis and leaves like an impersonator?
Do you also think about the Luck of the Irish sketch on the 17th of March. That is my fave! I did a tribute to John Belushi on my channel. Check it out if you have time. czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
SAME SAME SAME
Still comedy gold, even after all these years.
You can't beat the first season of SNL....although the Bill Murray replacement of Chevy Chase was pretty amazing. Check out my Belushi tribute if you get a chance. czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
Original cast you can never get enough they were Great
They were the trailblazers! CHeck out my Belushi tribute...it links to Gilda and then to Lorne Michaels. czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
The real trailblazers were the folks who appeared on "Laugh-In".
These first seasons of SNL were about delivery,,not content. These people were true improv type comedians. Belushi could make the phone book funny. Akroyd was just as funny. All of the original players were funny just standing on stage. I am glad I was a teenager when this was on,,, #formativeyears
I was only old enough to watch SNL back in the early 80's. But NBC would sometimes put on re-runs of the older shows during the summer. Luckily most of the people were still there in the 80's and Eddie Murphy had just joined.
Did you find the Pope in the Pizza?
I sent a postcard to NBC to get Al Franken a limousine..
The good old days.
God you're old.
Because they were Two Wild and Crazy Guys!
(Us old people will understand that.)
Well said 👏 well said
One of the greatest comedians in history...one of the most talented American actors...amazing band frontman...an entertainment genius.
Seeing this again 45 years later...it's too bad that the skit only half-delivered to the live audience.
Watching it at home we were hysterical on the floor. We would recite this all week at school. Belushi "would do anything for a bit" A real comic hero.
Belushi and Chase. Two comedic legends!
I was born in 1962, so I remember the old black and white tv days. How times have changed. and not for the better.
Absolutely for the better. Less overall crime than the 70s, less starving people than in the 70s, and the technology allows connection all over the world making life easier.
You’re...on....CZcams...
These were the classics! Check out my John Belushi tribute if you get a tic! czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
They NEED to upload John's commentary on the "Luck of the Irish".
I was just mentioning that in the above REPLY! Check out my Belushi tribute if you get a sec..... czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
When John says "A tiny little any about this big" always cracks me up. First heard this skit on the SNL lp on Arista back in early 77. The lp was the first time I ever heard about SNL. After listening to the album, I became a fan of the show. Tv was tuned to KYW 3 every Sat. evening.
I still have that LP on vinyl!
I had it on cassette and wore the thing out - I can still recite the 'Chevy' song and this sketch - very few people know where i got the 'March goes out like a golden retriever' line that i use all the time
Belushi was one of a kind.
There is no one like him. A lot have been discussing how Chris Farley was def a disciple of his school of comedy. Also missed. Check out my Belushi tribute. czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html

Nah Farley was
Yup. The whole first cast in my opinion. Gilda Radner was my favorite. I have her episode linked to John B's tribute on my channel....give it a gander.....czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html
@@underground5682 both were
ok
@@underground5682 Farley copied a lot of Belushi's over-the-top style. If there had never been a Belushi, there wouldn't have been a Farley. Besides, none of Farley's movies compare to Belushi in Animal House.

RIP John. There.has been no one as funny as you.
Drew Ciccotelli He wasn't funny at all. I don't get why people try to force old SNL as being funny. That was dumb as fuck what he did at the end
Boring beyond belief
Eric Walters exactly. I keep seeing comments about how great old SNL was but the people saying that probably couldn't sit through one episode of 70s SNL now. Of course it was the funniest thing at the time and that's how we remember it. People forget that comedy changes and so do we. The last time I watched the three stooges it was hilarious but if I were to watch it today I might not even smile at it.
yeah it was and he was going to be in the first ghostbusters but he died
Belushi was #1 movie, music album and tv show in 1978. No one has ever don that since, what an amazing talent and missed!
Not ready for prime time players , unique , truly funny
Do they still call them that? What a great name. Check out my Belushi tribute if you get a second. czcams.com/video/ckb90ccC3Ik/video.html

Now, approximately 40 years later, SNL's brilliant Cecily Strong (as the insanely loud and incorrect Faux Nooz Jeanine Pirro) revised the chair flip (and launches her high heel shoe in the process). A big, warm thank you to all the hard-working writers and comedians who commit to these characters and bring them to life.

From the first year of SNL. Always loved Chevy Chase, never was able to enjoy the show quite as much after he split… Which also split his career into millions of pieces and he never did much of anything ever as great as SNL again. Anyway, this skit is an absolute classic! Belushi is wonderful. And if you can manage to take your eyes off of his engrossing performance, take a peek at the expressions on Chevy’s face every once in a while, they’re priceless!
That first year was the most exciting. But I actually preferred Murray to Chase. The second season was my favorite. But the excitement of the first season was great. And Chevy Chase was the best at Weekend Update. So good! Check out my Belushi tribute. czcams.com/users/WalkofFameWednesdayswithToddPickeringsearch?view_as=subscriber&query=John%20Belushi
'80's and '90's were funnier - I always felt Chase tried too hard to be funny.

I remember watching this live. Such creativity! It seemed like one of the funniest things ever. However, it could've been the pot talking....

NO it wasnt. when the winers were on and people started jumping out of the airplane it was just plain really FUNNY!
what about the thanksgiving when they dared him to eat one MORE BITE AND HE EXPLODED!
Then again, a lot of the writing seemed rather drug-influenced, so it matched up well. Hell, the mid-late '70's (and the late-early-mid-'70's, and mid-early-late '70's etc.) were a Dazed & Confused kinda time in general, it seemed.
Or maybe it was the high school talking. And the pot.
