Memee Bays - No. We NEVER did that, not even amongst family. It was unsanitary then as it is now. Great way to pass on a cold, flu, etc. even before symptoms become prevalent.

Grass jelly drink or commonly called cincau (Malaysia/Singapore) is a good drink for cooling down you body especially in hot humid day. It taste like a sweeten herbal drink/tea. Mild flavour.

In South Africa we have a drink called Iron Brew (different colour than that) which is weird because we use the word Bru (meaning Bro, Bra, Brother, etc.) often; and I think it's made from caramel, cola and steel pylons. The best hangover thirst cure.

Haggis is actually a sheep's stomach and you aren't supposed to eat it, only the minced mixture (a sheep's heart, lungs and liver mixed with spices, onion and oatmeal) inside.
